      Are you saved friend? If you died tonight will you go to heaven or hell? God Almighty, the Creator was manifest in the flesh. He came into the world to take away the sin of the world. He gave up his own life to save yours. His sacrifice on the cross paid the price for your redemption with his own blood. On the third day he rose from dead and offers the gift of salvation and forgiveness to those that repent and trust in him.

      I'm not from Ireland, but I have to agree. While DiCaprio has an extensive repertoire of accents he's used in various films, I really don't think he done any of them particularly well. It always just comes off as Leo imitating something. I never watch a movie with him in it forgetting that he is playing a role. Gary Oldman, on the other hand, I didn't know he was Zorg (or the Russian loyalist) until many years later. Such an excellent man with accents. On an unrelated subject, I was happy to see a clip of him from The Graham Norton Show. Best talk show ever.

He was completely devoid of a Baltimore accent. This was definitely difficult to discern since so many of the main characters didn't even attempt a Baltimore accent. If you look at the characters like Snoop and D'angelo, you can definitely tell that they've spent a lot of time in B-more.

They know he's Canadian, but he still portrays him as American sounding. Therefore it is an American role. "Australia" was co-produced by 20th Cent. No duh, dude. And yes, if anything, he's Canadian-American. I get that. You can be Canadian and sound "American". Northern North America is still North America. I know Canadian people who live on the border of NH and VT with Canadian accents as well as those American accents. Same goes for the Midwest and the Pacific Northwest. Still, they should have referred to it as a Canadian-American accent or just North American.

      @jdwylde7 8 лет назад

      That's not exactly accurate. "African American" certainly doesn't pertain to having an african parent and being American. As you'd be far fetched to find a black person you even know that had parents that weren't born American. Yet the term "African American" is still the correct term. Plus how many generations have to be born into American culture to no longer be considered native to where their families came from? Yet that still wouldn't work because the United States census doesn't recognize generations as a unit of measure. Canadian-American literally means (and this is according to my human geography college course), that they are of direct Canadian descent residing in America, OR are born Canadian citizens, and now reside as US American citizens. They might change things in the future but screw political correctness. My brother was born in Japan, yet he's as white and American as they come. He can be considered Japanese-American if he chooses. He does not. He's also of strong Italian descent. He's still just American. His Dad was born here.

    Agree on Oldman, completely. A total chameleon, vastly under praised. Arguably the best actor alive, the guy should have won many more awards than he has.
    Daniel Day Lewis definitely qualifies for 2nd. If it weren't for Gary, DDL would be tops.

      If we're just talking Top Ten Male Actors of the 20th and 21st Centuries, Hopkins would belong on that list, and very high up. Accents aren't his strength, though. Voice modulation, definitely--amazing!--but not necessarily all that great with accents. Aside from his voice, his brilliance is in his eyes, subtle facial expressions, head tilts, gestures, and--up until his seventies, anyway--his overall body control: his posture, his walk, and so on. One of the best ever who can act the hell out of a scene with his back turned to the camera.

      I come from Invercargill, New Zealand, and I can tell you that not only was it on point, but it was on point for the years he was portraying. Children were actually taught a specific accent at the time to more closely imitate the 'Queen's English' as unfortunately back then there was still a huge pressure to be seen as a closely related commonwealth country. Anthony's accent had a perfect mix of Southland drawl and the enforced English inflection that Munro would have had at the time.

      When they made a big deal about Brokeback Mountain 25 years later, I thought it was stupid. It was not groundbreaking. Martin Sheen and Hal Holbrook played a gay couple in a frigging 1973 TV movie "That Certain Summer." Other earlier films, The Crying Game, Philadelphia, Hedwig and the Angry Inch, Longtime Companion.
