    And remember when Noah said this to Helge:
    Years ago, I was still a little boy, A stranger came to us. He looked as if he'd been in the
    war. Didn't talk much. There was this sadness in his eyes. The kind you sometimes see in those who want to die, but life won't let them. He took a room in our house. The bedroom right next to mine. And…sometimes I heard him talk in his sleep. Confused words. But one night, he was suddenly very clear. He stood in the hallway, his eyes wide open, and said..
    « Nothing is in vain. Not a single breath. Not a single step, not a single word. Not pain. An eternal miracle of the One.»
    I didn't understand any of his words, Only years later, when I felt the pain, did I understand what he meant.
    The stranger was the old Noah 😭

    Notice how Jonas is often shown carrying a light - a flashlight, a lantern, etc. In the scene where he kills Hannah he brings a lantern into the room and leaves without it. This is when he becomes Adam, who we never see carrying a light as he's given up hope. Bear this in mind when you watch the final episode.

    Now you know why Noah reacted the way he did when he found the missing pages. All this time he believed Adam that it was Claudia who took Charlotte away from him and Elizabeth, when it was Adam that orchestrated the whole thing.

    I just assume everybody who is destined to love somebody in Dark will love this person automatically. Whether they know they have to or not. Because the determinism in Dark is fueled by what people want. Because people can do what they want, but not want what they want.

Definitely recommend a rewatch of the entire show if you haven't already. You learn/understand so much more than the first time, and all the little hints/foreshadowing etc are incredible. Haha, you are amazing! The effort you put in is duly noted and made me smile from ear to ear!
    The gun not working to kill Jonas harks back to when Noah tried to shoot Adam: It wouldn't fire because Adam's own future already exists. But Agnes took the gun and killed Noah no problem, because Noah's own future doesn't exist. He died in 1921, and as we see here at 10:30, Noah was born in 1904 as the son of Bartosz and Silja, which would've made him only 17 years old at the date of his death, had he not time-travelled a lot and spent part of his life in all kinds of time periods. We see that he must be in his 40s at least, but of course we never see an old version of him, since he was killed before he could grow any older.
    Noah had been heavily manipulated by Adam. All Noah wanted was to find his daughter again, which was kid- and mothernapped in the post-apocalyptic future. Then he wanted to escape this world together with his loved ones and enter some kind of paradise, like the biblical Noah, surviving the flood on the ark. Everything bad he did in this world then wouldn't mean anything anymore, at least this is what middle-aged Jonas and Adam always kept telling him. To build his ark, Noah first had to perfect the prototype. He needed guinea pigs for the time machine chair, and he needed a willing helper. Brainwashing Helge and using the kids were unfortunate, yet necessary chess moves in order to achieve the ultimate goal, so Noah thought. But when he discovered the missing pages of the notebook, he finally realized that Adam had been lying to him all along. Adam knew that Charlotte was his daughter, and Adam basically had her kidnapped and brought to H.G. Wells, err Tannhaus. Adam didn't want to save anyone. Adam wanted total annihilation as a way out, as a way to break the cycle, by any means necessary, so he manipulated everyone around him. Paradise was a lie all along.
    19:56 Hannah is travelling further and further into the past to find happiness. She arrives in 1911, and ends up being killed by her own son who has discarded all emotion and is now known as Adam. In S3E4 we saw Hannah getting pregnant with Silja from Egon (who only knows Hannah as Katharina) in 1954. They go their seperate ways after he leaves her money for the abortion. We know that they will reunite later: In 1986, a young Hannah comes into old Egon's office and reports that Katharina was raped by Ulrich...
    26:30 Yes, that montage at the end was so amazing, i was sitting there with my jaw on the floor when i watched it. I've never before seen a show pull off something like this before. Everything finally makes sense, in the second to last episode of the whole thing. And in some ways, it can hit you like a brick. Poor Blartha/Lydia, i felt with you!
    30:19 "You may not understand yet, but choosing us is choosing life." (keeping the cycle going), "Choosing Adam is choosing death." (ending the cycle through total annihilation).
    31:35 Lydia's sigh was felt through all the worlds. Oh man, if you binge-watched the final episode right afterwards in this emotional state...
    But your guys' reactions are so good now. And you have emotional intelligence. Really a treat.

      Fun fact about the jackets, it was the death of us, we were ready to watch the last two episodes as planned, and right before recording, as we sat on our chairs, we decided that it would be so good to have them, for sentimental purposes. So we had to wait until they arrived, Lydia's came first, but mine took much longer than expected. Not being able to watch the last two episodes was a pain, but I think it was worth it.

    2:30 So yeah... anybody who skipped most of my comments on the last vid could now go back and read those... because it is mostly baout the fact that Eva drops quantum entanglement and draws a closed loop/cycle consisting of 4 loops (as she mentions the curve has an outside and and inside and intersects itself at what she calls the junction ("die Weiche", lit. a [railroad] switch)... so what she tries to explain isn't quantum entanglement at all but this right here: quantum superposition. It is the answer to what alt-(scarred-)Martha has asked her: how can there Jonas be dead in their world and alive in his world to become Adam. Because both Jonases (macroscopic systems) are superimposed on top of each other.

    • @michaelklaus
      @michaelklaus Год назад

      3:11 so here we see that not only... a Martha from Jonas'/Adam's world - which I called Martha fro simplicity sake but which we might wanna call A-Martha - and an alt Martha from Eva's world - which we should call E-Martha - but E-Martha is infact also superimposed on herself.
      This is interesting because this finally goes back to Eva's notion about quantum entanglement.
      I got some explanations and some thoughts about this late on but long story short: A-Jonas and E-Martha are two entangled systems; they seem to be split but in fact we superimpose the couple with another; A-Jonas-1 and E-Martha-1 go back to Eva's world together before E-Martha-1 goes to A-1888; E-Martha-2 is stopped by E-Bartosz and taken back by him, which results in A-Jonas-2 to hide in the cellar and become Adam; both couples are superimposed onte each other but also entagled with one another; also note that it is not Eva or a younger version of her creating this effect but instead it is E-Bartosz who actually both does and does not call out to E-Martha to stop her;
      Quantum superposition is pretty much explained here by Tannhaus but he doesn't talk much about entanglement. This concept assumes that certain quants or systems containin those are linked to another in the sense that they states have a definitive relationship towards one another. Usually the relationship is as it is presented in the show, that the systems take on the same state but it could also mean that they always take on opposing states. The main use is usually that we could theoretically make a statement about either of these particles without observing them first just by observing the other... the irrationality in this should be obvious, though.
      Let us assume that the Schrödinger's cat was quantum entangled with a dog. If the dog was observed he would be either alive or dead and we would have to assume that the cat... well that depends, right? How do we know how the entanglement works (same/opposing) without conducting the experiment first and therefore observing the quants? But if we assume that both systems take on the same state we coudl in theory make an assumption by observing whether the dog is alive or dead... BUT this also means that as long as the dog is NOT observed he has to be alive AND dead just like the cat; the wavefunction of two states. And this also means that observing the dog results in the wavefunction collaps for both the dog and the cat just as if we had observed both of them. Because that is the irrationality: two entagled quants as though seperate by all means of spatial dimensions should still be considered the same system.
      spoiler for the post-finale discussion:
      Notice here that people are NOT the only macroscopic systems: 3:15 perfectly illustrates that there are two versions of Jonas home in two versions of Winden in two versions of Adam's world; so E-Bartosz is not only creating two versions of A-Jonas and E-Martha here but also two versions of Adam's world; so in theory we have to assume that those worlds persist and that there are superimposed versions of Adam, Ulrich or Claudia, right? BUT we actually have a perfect explanation at hand why they do NOT survive the day. So far we had to wonder why the apocalypse did not end the world as the name suggests. But what if it did? What if the apocalypse is also the wavefunction collaps of this world and eradicates all the doubles created in this superposition of the world? Note that E-Martha-1 says: we do not have much time before they vanish from Adam's-world-1 and then we see the house being engulfed by the shockwave. I think that A-world-1 is completely obliterated in the apocalypse and only A-world-2 persists with A-Claudia-2 and the others emerging the bunker to later meet up with A-Jonas-2 who we knows beocomes Adam... so yeah, maybe I should have switched the -1 and -2 denominators but you would have wondered why I did so.

      3:50 I thought it went without saying that you already made my day with your effort;
      Zagart started to "dress up" as a dark glooy version of himself while watching the third cycle and he considered several times to get a yellow raincoat... but didn't; thankfully he didn't cut his bangs either but bangs-Lydia from bangs-world (I think that was coined by The Homies, Crew Blindwave or Reaction Dragonz?) is rocking that hairstyle.

    • @michaelklaus
      @michaelklaus Год назад

      6:35 okay so here we already got why (A-)adult-Elisabeth was talking about that "the passage will open" to the quasi Sic Mundus members she was leading in the post-apocalyptic world
      here I like to point out that the girl about to be revealed as Silja Tiedemann is wearing the dress that she took from E-Martha(-1)... which means it is the same dress that adult-Jonas gave her when she visited A-1888; no better way to get some contemporary clothes for your time travel, right?

    • @michaelklaus
      @michaelklaus Год назад

      6:57 you are aware that according to the faily tree these two will have kids together... but here is a quick reminder that Silja is Jonas' and Claudia's half-sister and therefore his own great-aunt. I think that is pretty ironic after all the time the boys fought over Martha and all the RUclips comments about the incest involved.

    • @michaelklaus
      @michaelklaus Год назад

      9:30 So this might be "fate"... but fate is a metaphysical concept trying to explain the human impression that something was not meant to be. Some gods and other mythological creatures (like the Greek moirai, the Roman Parcae or the Norse Norns) are embodiments of this concept.
      When talking about time travel we usually completely ignore the mysticism but there is a concept that ends up with the same result: causal determinism. As we talked about before causal determinism would not allow for any changes to the timeline whatsoever.
      So a less restrictive way to see this would be Novikov's self-consistency principle that says that only time travel is possible that leads to the same "starting conditions" that were true before time travel to the past was started. This ight sound like the same as causal determinism but it leaves open if anything without effect on those condititions can actually be different.
      The show now finally offered a third explanation: quantum entanglement. A-Jonas-2 (the one who becomes Adam) tries to kill himself but he survives as long as E-Martha-2 survives (that's the one who will become Eva).
      EDIT: Well and then there is the in character explanation that causal determinism and all these scientific concepts are thrown out the window because people just want to have one thing and therefore will always make the same mistakes all over again even if they could do something different.
      We are not free in what we do, because we are not free in what we want.
      It actually still is basically fate... we just have three different scientific approaches that might finally explain the observation better than "three women weaving the thread that symbolizes your life".

    • @reactionando
      @reactionando  Год назад +1

      Yes, under determinism "free will" (the ability to have acted differently) doesn't exist, so people (and things) are "destined" to follow a chain of causation. Given this, I can grant that Silja was not given a list of things to do for the remaining of her life after arriving to Bartosz's time, like @ce666isa and @Martin Michaud pointed, both Bartosz and Silja are just pieces that needed to be put in place in order to get a desire outcome. Like @connectingTheDots say, "they do what they want", so I think it is still possible for Silja to at least know that upon her arrival she was going to meet Bartosz and that she had to make sure to have a relationship with him, even if she didn't really love him (wich she might, but I am not entirely convinced). But why would she do that if she didn't want to be with him? Well, because she still wants to ensure that the future remains the same, and this is a greater want.
