READ THIS NEW INFORMATION: Dolphin beta and dev builds 5.0-18192 and up now support Dcache, so you don't need a special build. Dolphin dev builds 5.0-20275 and newer support toggling Dcache while the game is running, no savestate trick needed. If you don't have Documents/Dolphin Emulator, in dolphin go to File -> Open User Folder to find it (%appdata%\Dolphin Emulator) 5.0-20555 through 5.0-20684 are broken. If you are using a version in that range then you need to update. TROUBLESHOOTING: If you run into ANY problem, verify your MKWii (in dolphin, right click, properties, verify). If you get something other than good dump, you may have problems. Redump your disk. AFAIK good dumps are usually ISO or RVZ files. And I suspect pirates are having trouble with bad ISO files from the internet. I've seen a few commenters get stuck on the install (~24% in). Start by verifying the game as said above, this seems to happen on bad dumps. Redump your game. As an alternative you could potentially manage to install by redoing the SD card steps and turning the internet off so it doesn't update. General troubleshooting: Make sure enable writes to SD card is on. Make sure you have the right files in the sd sync folder when you click convert folder to file. Also maybe try turning MMU on/off or dual core off.
i had that issue and i did fix it by turning the wifi off and setting the sd card to convert file to folder and loading the game of although i didnt know how to get the game to start with savestate with enable write back cache off Edit: sorry guys i was stupidly opening the ctgp channel you just need to open normal mkwii
@@thelastrob7877 Redo the sd step and turn your internet off. Once you get into the ctgp menu you can turn off ctgp auto update and turn your internet back on.

Without a disc* It's even worse. I have a Wii but load my games with a USB loader because my Wii stopped reading discs a while ago. The fact that the devs are against piracy is honestly a huge amount of bs. Like, the game is over 15 years old for fuck's sake.

At no point did CTGP-R ever pop up on the Channel page and I wonder why this happened. I probably did a mistake during the installation process, even though I did trace my steps and double check the correct folders but it would possibly help others (as dumb as me) to add an answer to this problem to the FAQ section. By channel page you mean the dolphin game list? That's done at 1:43. Make sure the boot.dol in the folder is either directly in one of the dolphin game paths or deeper inside one of the paths with search subfolders enabled.
the slowdowns are short but they are pretty noticeable, the game tanks for a few seconds and then goes back to normal but other than that it runs very well like 95% of the time
to anyone wondering how well this runs, i can say a few things: - it doesn't run very well, it suffers a lot of slowdowns - it's possible to connect to wiimmfi and queue into online lobbies, but unless you can pull 100% full speed with no slowdowns, don't play - even with 30FPS hack, some tracks struggle to barely maintain 100% speed tested on Ryzen 5 2600X + GTX 980 + 3200MHz DDR4, your mileage may vary
Hmm. Although I can't find a direct source, people seem to be saying non-compatibility is intentional? I hope his actual stance was misunderstood or has since changed. It's nice to play custom tracks in HD without having to repeatedly do so much file swapping. But assuming he does intentionally break dolphin, would not making this video help anyone? It's only a matter of time until a bigger youtuber also covers this. And at the very least surely the dolphin progress report will mention it once it's merged. The only advantage would be that people who already know how might get it for longer. And that's under the assumption that he breaks dolphin and finds out through my video.
I just tried it out tonight, works like a charm with the very latest Dolphin-dev build (incl. updating from internet as far as I'm concerned, didnt need to turn it off at any point & running from my old 3.2E NAND backup even (but I had so many hacks installed over it over the years that could be why i didnt need to update)) @Craftyawesome quick question (or anyone that set it up) => Curious about online, obviously poor framerate - makes it unplayable however I wanted to at least check if I could find players: - In a regular WW (through the CTGP savestate) => Instant pop, no issues to find people. - Ctgp WW/Countdown mode => I never found a single person (attempted multiple times, waited several minutes) Is it a known like extra security to enforce people playing on an actual Wii or are you on your end able to at least find players even in CTGP WW or simply a bug? I guess that's what you meant by online doesnt work in some other comment but just wanted to check on that bit.
Updating the emulated Wii was only to work around dolphin giving an IOS error when loading the savestate. Probably chooses a different IOS with a NAND than without, so just needs any CTGP compatible NAND. Some people are having trouble with the initial CTGP install/update. At least one cause seems to be a bad dump. And your online experience matches mine. When searching CTWW I never match and don't show up on www.chadsoft.co.uk/online-status/ like on my real wii. I also couldn't manage to join a friend room with either the Wii or dolphin hosting. Also no TT submissions online, which is a good thing. Too bad, had my hopes up since performance always end up improving either thanks to hardware (welp maybe an OC'd CPU to very high frequency could run it fullspeed at stock emulated clock ;D) or breakthrough in the codebase itself. But I was unaware of those extra security checks once the game was up and running, so seems like its rip.
@@SasukeIII I'm not sure if it's known that the security is what is slowing down the emulation. Lower emulated CPU clock being significant sounds to me like the idle loop isn't being detected. Why it is still slow after that IDK.
Due to dolphin updated adding the necessary features on android I'm currently setting up now, I will comment again if it works! UPDATE: It works following this guide for the latest android version! However, you can not do the savestate trick so basically. You boot through ctgp channel with writeback enabled. Launch. Skip checks. Then just turn off write back whilst game is running and you're set. You'll need to tinker with settings for performance yourselves as I haven't done that yet

1. No clue. Someone with the skills has to optimize dolphin or patch ctgp itself to be faster. 2. Not really. Just probably something it does is slow on dolphin. 3. It might be intentional, the dolphin progress report mentions additional protections for time trials, although it doesn't specifically mention CTWW. Or maybe by pure chance it doesn't work.
I saw the PR and the description said that it fixed CTGP. Unfortunately if I had to guess steam deck isn't powerful enough. Maybe 30fps on the easier tracks with all the perf tricks I mentioned and whatever you do on steam deck to make sure cpu clocks stay high.
@@craftyawesome6830 steam deck is an absolute beast it can run mk wii at 1080p no sweat. Its not the computer is the issue its the version of dolphin you have in the description that isn't stable
@@niallers8572 CTGP runs a lot slower than MKWii. Being slow while write-back cache is enabled for any game makes sense, it is doing a ton more work. Being slow after disabling dcache is admittedly strange. It's not slow if you do the same savestate trick and you don't load CTGP at all. It was also pointed out it was slow in the PR github.com/dolphin-emu/dolphin/pull/11183#issuecomment-1287245346

steam deck is like a low to mid end gaming computer. Enough to run Mario kart wii because dolphin has had a lot of work put into it to run it but this is an unoptimized nodded version made to only run in real hardware

The launch at ~2:54 or at 3:27? Either way try verifying your game. And make sure you remembered write back cache. Otherwise you could try turning mmu on/off depending on the problem. Also try turning off any cheats.
I tried all the steps but it always gets stuck at "Preparing SD..." right when I open the ctgp channel, any fix for that? Edit: I finally got it working, will edit again once I get more progress.
FPS drops are expected, but IDK why it isn't working for you two and I can't get it to happen to myself. Have either of you fixed it? If not, is this your first time installing or was it working before the recent updates? But there are multiple steps to install an update. Give it 10-30 minutes realtime to install. And if it still doesn't work I guess redo the SD card steps?

Guys this is not worth the trouble. Just play other mods like like mkw hack pack, mario kart midnight or mario kart fun. They have hundreds of tracks like ctgp and work on dolphin
Soo i think i did the "save state" a bit to late is there anyway to redo it. I cant open the CTGP-R i just get some kind of black screen with white bars. would love to have acces to some settings from CTGP-R. Can i just delete the save state and turn on write back cache and redo the process?
so ctgpr loads properly but as soon as i enter single player the game goes to a black screen for a few seconds then the game crashes and it says to "eject disc"

@@craftyawesome6830 I did by reading your comment on saying this and apparently all my games are “bad dumps” but they work great and my Sonic 4 is the only ok one. Guess “Good Dumps” are rare to find.
I wanted to get the 24-player mod working. I was able to follow your tutorial and get ctgp working. I copied all the ctgp files from my sd for my wiiu(because i have the 24 player mod on my wiiu) to the wii sync folder, and did the rest of that stuff. It tried making me update to the normal ctgp. So i chsnged the mac adress to my wii mac adresss. I was able to get further. When i try to start up mario kart wii it says, "the most recet update is not yet complete" but i cant update the channel. I did try all the stuff in your pinned comment, didn’t help
@craftyawesome6830 No, but I have been able to get it to work. I installed it through the offline/no internet method on the ctgp-r website. I tried it before, but I guess I did it wrong the first time, lol. Now the problem is I get about 7 fps. I wonder if I could get just the 24-player mod working without the rest of ctgp. I know that would be really difficult, and I doubt I have the knowledge to do that, but I might still give it a try.
Hello i'm trying this install on Dolphin 5.0-1950. The installation when perfecly but on the "Press A to continue" screen I get this warning: "Invalid read from 0x97fc0088, PC = 0x80193038". I get a few of these warning but I can't get throught this screen. I have a good dump and I tried some troubleshooting you provide us. Do you have a solution for me?
It is restarting the final download once it gets 23%. It says graphic settings changed, restarting shaders and will reset back to 0% and repeat again once it reaches 23%. Do you know a fix ?
This has happened to a few people but not to me and I don't know how to fix it. Download the latest dev build of dolphin since it now supports it. If that doesn't help then I have a few suggestions on the pinned comment but you will probably have to install it with the internet off and use a slightly older version.
i had this issue and i just turned off my internet and then did convert folder to file now and re launched the channel and it fixed it. i hope this works for you
@@i-l4795 How many times did you wait? Even on real HW it seems like there are multiple steps to installing a single update sometimes. I just tried it and it worked for me, although it took some minutes. Give it some time, and if it doesn't work maybe try using www.chadsoft.co.uk/download/updates.html to install it. (config, wii, convert file to folder now, add update files, convert folder to file, but IDK if this will help if the problem is install step)
I kinda have my doubts you'll see this but either way I have a huge problem My game only functions when I set the GPU clock to 16% or less. But as you said, it's in slow mo. Anything higher than 16% the game's audio is messed up and it's not steerable. And even if I wanted to play time trials only it is no faster than wanting to play a GP :(
What do you mean by "not steerable"? But otherwise it just sounds as expected if your CPU isn't that good. Time trials should allow a slightly lower emulated cpu clock before you get the emulated slowdown and it should be a little faster at any given %. Some tracks are also easier than others. What CPU do you have, and did you do every trick in the video?
I'm not aware of anything else beyond things like setting your os to high performance mode. For CPU override if your computer is weak I would set it to the lowest value that prevents the game from running in slow motion while dolphin is at 100%. This will be something like 28% on time trials 30fps but more on grand prix or 60fps
I got in working on the setup, the only problem is the slow download speed on the update even my internet is really good. Usually my download speed goes around 20 Mbps (2 MB/sec), but the download speed in the setup is always ranging from 10 KB/sec to 50 KB/sec.

i got into ctgp but now ive hit another roadblock with the savestate when i try to load the savestate launching regular mkwii i get IOS,HLE ERROR and then it says cannot load savestate it also says found 0X0 instead of save marker 66 aborting savestate load i also performed the system update and that also says the system is up to date
Does your disc dump match the region of your emulated Wii? Otherwise I don't have a good idea, maybe try adding ctgp launcher to home screen and creating savestate from there? Or maybe launching MKWii from home menu and loading state from there.
Yes, you have to launch with that enabled. I think the problem is that for whatever reason dolphin does something different with IOSs when launching directly vs launching from ctgp. Normally this can be fixed by updating the emulated Wii. But I suspect you might have a different region disc than your system.
Some few questions before doing this: 1. Do CTWWs (or private rooms at least) Work? 2. Can you enable all the codes in the CTGP menu, incluiding the 24 player code if dumped from a Wii that had it? 3. If so, can it connect to a Wii via the LAN functionality?
1. I could not get either to work. And I tried hosting from both the wii and dolphin. 2. I vaguely remember everything in settings working. Would need to double check. And 24 players would probably need ridiculous hardware. 3. Did not try. Will see in a couple days.
IDK, maybe create it manually? Also if you are sure you have nothing meaningful on the SD card you can just put the files there and convert folder to file.
when i go in to time trials my character is frozen and i can play when my savestate starts in time trails but once i fall off then get picked up it freezes me again\
If you install ctgp, start it, and save the data, the game will crash and Dolphin will also crash. Furthermore, when you start Mario Kart and load the saved data, the game and Dolphin will drop together.

Maybe try making a new savestate. And did you do the wii system update? And does it match the game region? Also FWIW a future version of dolphin will likely let you turn off write back cache while ingame.

It's a laptop. Ryzen 7 5800H and RTX 3060 115W. 60fps is doable on a lot of time trials but I could get almost any grand prix races to run at 30 with the 30fps cheat.
The pointer isn't lined up properly? I can't click the top left of the screen so I can't choose english. My solution was to emulate a gamecube controller but do you know anything about this?
I always used a gamecube controller. But if you do want to use a emulated wiimote try going to the motion simulation tab and then in the point section adjust the vertical yaw, pitch, and vertical offset depending on what is needed.
Hi So everything works fine: loading menu, choosing profile etc... When I load Single Player or Wiimmfi, the screen turns black and on the screen it appears the following words: "An error has occurred. Press the EJECT Button, remove the Game Disc, and turn the power off. Please read the wii Operations Manual for more information". Idk what to do. (My PC specs are i5-10400T 8GB of RAM INTEL UHD 630)
Huh, I haven't seen this before. I guess follow the general troubleshooting, mostly the verifying your game and toggling MMU. Also maybe reinstall ctgp with fresh files.
Download it now while it's not patched and as long as you play offline in flight mode you can practice as much as you want and it shouldn't prompt an update as long as you are offline lol
So I got it working. I press launch game it does all the reading disc or whatever stuff. Then when it goes to black it just freezes the fps drops to abt 22 but it doesn't change like yours did so I assume it just freezes. Any way you know to fix?

Help! When i try to perform the step with an Online System Update it won't work, it gets stuck at 0%, then says unable to install update, check your connection, ive checked it and i even tried using my mobile hotspot so ik its not the conection. What can i do to fix this? I rlly wanna play CTGP

i cant move the ctgp files into the wiisdsync folder, when i try to copy the files it just makes the windows error sound and no error message appears.. ive tried changing the properties of the folder but nothing
Restart your computer for one. But otherwise it might be a onedrive sync problem? Newer versions will use a folder in appdata instead of documents if it doesn't detect the documents one.

Just gotta wait 7 days for my "console" to activate, i cant wait to see if it actually works or not. @@ignmacedu It isn't fast, make sure you give it some time. Maybe try switching MMU on or off, depending on what is already was. And maybe try dual core off as a test.

@@nivektoad Write back cache being slow makes sense, it is doing a ton of extra work. But why it is slow when off makes less sense (if you do the same savestate trick with vanilla MKWii it runs fine). "launch" meaning the ctgp launcher or that works and the game itself is black screening? Make sure write back cache is enabled and you aren't on a broken version.

Hello! Thanks so much for this guide! It somewhat worked for me up until trying to launch CTGP, which it told me that there is an error or youu need to go to the updater. I'm not sure what to do here. My MKWii dump is good but when I patch it to Wiimmfii, it tells me it is a bad dump. Shouuld I make the ISO the default duump or the duump that has been patched by Wiimmfii? Regardlessü thanks! I wouuld like to know!

@@AndrewThePoet Maybe something on the sd card got corrupted? You could try reconverting folder to file to get fresh files. Or maybe just try again as the error suggests. Also note that CTWW never worked for me. Normal worldwide technically did but it is slower than a normal wimmfi patch.
Was it initially a bad dump? Maybe your first try messed up the SD. Maybe reconvert folder to file? But other than bad dump, I can't make any suggestions other than generic tries like changing mmu or single core.

I probably did a mistake during the installation process, even though I did trace my steps and double check the correct folders but it would possibly help others (as dumb as me) to add an answer to this problem to the FAQ section.

By channel page you mean the dolphin game list? That's done at 1:43. Make sure the boot.dol in the folder is either directly in one of the dolphin game paths or deeper inside one of the paths with search subfolders enabled.

the slowdowns are short but they are pretty noticeable, the game tanks for a few seconds and then goes back to normal but other than that it runs very well like 95% of the time

Try making a new savestate maybe? Also on the latest versions you can just turn off write back cache while the game is running, no savestate needed.
to anyone wondering how well this runs, i can say a few things:
- it doesn't run very well, it suffers a lot of slowdowns
- it's possible to connect to wiimmfi and queue into online lobbies, but unless you can pull 100% full speed with no slowdowns, don't play
- even with 30FPS hack, some tracks struggle to barely maintain 100% speed
tested on Ryzen 5 2600X + GTX 980 + 3200MHz DDR4, your mileage may vary

Hmm. Although I can't find a direct source, people seem to be saying non-compatibility is intentional? I hope his actual stance was misunderstood or has since changed. It's nice to play custom tracks in HD without having to repeatedly do so much file swapping.
But assuming he does intentionally break dolphin, would not making this video help anyone? It's only a matter of time until a bigger youtuber also covers this. And at the very least surely the dolphin progress report will mention it once it's merged. The only advantage would be that people who already know how might get it for longer. And that's under the assumption that he breaks dolphin and finds out through my video.
I just tried it out tonight, works like a charm with the very latest Dolphin-dev build (incl. updating from internet as far as I'm concerned, didnt need to turn it off at any point & running from my old 3.2E NAND backup even (but I had so many hacks installed over it over the years that could be why i didnt need to update))

Curious about online, obviously poor framerate - makes it unplayable however I wanted to at least check if I could find players:
- In a regular WW (through the CTGP savestate) => Instant pop, no issues to find people.
- Ctgp WW/Countdown mode => I never found a single person (attempted multiple times, waited several minutes)
Is it a known like extra security to enforce people playing on an actual Wii or are you on your end able to at least find players even in CTGP WW or simply a bug?
I guess that's what you meant by online doesnt work in some other comment but just wanted to check on that bit.
Updating the emulated Wii was only to work around dolphin giving an IOS error when loading the savestate. Probably chooses a different IOS with a NAND than without, so just needs any CTGP compatible NAND.
Some people are having trouble with the initial CTGP install/update. At least one cause seems to be a bad dump.
And your online experience matches mine. When searching CTWW I never match and don't show up on www.chadsoft.co.uk/online-status/ like on my real wii. I also couldn't manage to join a friend room with either the Wii or dolphin hosting. Also no TT submissions online, which is a good thing. Too bad, had my hopes up since performance always end up improving either thanks to hardware (welp maybe an OC'd CPU to very high frequency could run it fullspeed at stock emulated clock ;D) or breakthrough in the codebase itself. But I was unaware of those extra security checks once the game was up and running, so seems like its rip.
@@SasukeIII I'm not sure if it's known that the security is what is slowing down the emulation. Lower emulated CPU clock being significant sounds to me like the idle loop isn't being detected. Why it is still slow after that IDK.

Due to dolphin updated adding the necessary features on android I'm currently setting up now, I will comment again if it works!
UPDATE: It works following this guide for the latest android version! However, you can not do the savestate trick so basically.
You boot through ctgp channel with writeback enabled. Launch. Skip checks. Then just turn off write back whilst game is running and you're set. You'll need to tinker with settings for performance yourselves as I haven't done that yet

1. No clue. Someone with the skills has to optimize dolphin or patch ctgp itself to be faster.
2. Not really. Just probably something it does is slow on dolphin.
3. It might be intentional, the dolphin progress report mentions additional protections for time trials, although it doesn't specifically mention CTWW. Or maybe by pure chance it doesn't work.

I saw the PR and the description said that it fixed CTGP. Unfortunately if I had to guess steam deck isn't powerful enough. Maybe 30fps on the easier tracks with all the perf tricks I mentioned and whatever you do on steam deck to make sure cpu clocks stay high.

@@niallers8572 CTGP runs a lot slower than MKWii. Being slow while write-back cache is enabled for any game makes sense, it is doing a ton more work. Being slow after disabling dcache is admittedly strange. It's not slow if you do the same savestate trick and you don't load CTGP at all. It was also pointed out it was slow in the PR github.com/dolphin-emu/dolphin/pull/11183#issuecomment-1287245346

steam deck is like a low to mid end gaming computer. Enough to run Mario kart wii because dolphin has had a lot of work put into it to run it but this is an unoptimized nodded version made to only run in real hardware

You missed some step while preparing the SD card, or have it disabled in dolphin.

Quick question? When I tried to launch Mario kart Wii revolution it just froze when it finished is there something your supposed to do?
The launch at ~2:54 or at 3:27? Either way try verifying your game. And make sure you remembered write back cache. Otherwise you could try turning mmu on/off depending on the problem. Also try turning off any cheats.
I tried all the steps but it always gets stuck at "Preparing SD..." right when I open the ctgp channel, any fix for that?

While in the update process in the CTGP-R Channel the fps drops and the update always starts over at around 24%

FPS drops are expected, but IDK why it isn't working for you two and I can't get it to happen to myself. Have either of you fixed it? If not, is this your first time installing or was it working before the recent updates?
But there are multiple steps to install an update. Give it 10-30 minutes realtime to install. And if it still doesn't work I guess redo the SD card steps?

This seems to happen often with bad dumps, check if you have one. In dolphin, right click, properties, verify. If you get something other than good dump, redump your disk.

Guys this is not worth the trouble. Just play other mods like like mkw hack pack, mario kart midnight or mario kart fun. They have hundreds of tracks like ctgp and work on dolphin
Soo i think i did the "save state" a bit to late is there anyway to redo it. I cant open the CTGP-R i just get some kind of black screen with white bars. would love to have acces to some settings from CTGP-R. Can i just delete the save state and turn on write back cache and redo the process?
Just turn on write back cache, load the ctgp r launcher, launch mariokart, then overwrite savestate.

I wanted to get the 24-player mod working. I was able to follow your tutorial and get ctgp working. I copied all the ctgp files from my sd for my wiiu(because i have the 24 player mod on my wiiu) to the wii sync folder, and did the rest of that stuff. It tried making me update to the normal ctgp. So i chsnged the mac adress to my wii mac adresss. I was able to get further. When i try to start up mario kart wii it says, "the most recet update is not yet complete" but i cant update the channel. I did try all the stuff in your pinned comment, didn’t help

Now the problem is I get about 7 fps. I wonder if I could get just the 24-player mod working without the rest of ctgp. I know that would be really difficult, and I doubt I have the knowledge to do that, but I might still give it a try.

Hello i'm trying this install on Dolphin 5.0-1950. The installation when perfecly but on the "Press A to continue" screen I get this warning: "Invalid read from 0x97fc0088, PC = 0x80193038". I get a few of these warning but I can't get throught this screen. I have a good dump and I tried some troubleshooting you provide us. Do you have a solution for me?
I think you need to update dolphin or get the rom online
It is restarting the final download once it gets 23%. It says graphic settings changed, restarting shaders and will reset back to 0% and repeat again once it reaches 23%. Do you know a fix ?
This has happened to a few people but not to me and I don't know how to fix it. Download the latest dev build of dolphin since it now supports it. If that doesn't help then I have a few suggestions on the pinned comment but you will probably have to install it with the internet off and use a slightly older version.

i had this issue and i just turned off my internet and then did convert folder to file now and re launched the channel and it fixed it. i hope this works for you

@@i-l4795 How many times did you wait? Even on real HW it seems like there are multiple steps to installing a single update sometimes. I just tried it and it worked for me, although it took some minutes. Give it some time, and if it doesn't work maybe try using www.chadsoft.co.uk/download/updates.html to install it. (config, wii, convert file to folder now, add update files, convert folder to file, but IDK if this will help if the problem is install step)

My game only functions when I set the GPU clock to 16% or less. But as you said, it's in slow mo. Anything higher than 16% the game's audio is messed up and it's not steerable.
And even if I wanted to play time trials only it is no faster than wanting to play a GP :(
What do you mean by "not steerable"? But otherwise it just sounds as expected if your CPU isn't that good. Time trials should allow a slightly lower emulated cpu clock before you get the emulated slowdown and it should be a little faster at any given %. Some tracks are also easier than others.
What CPU do you have, and did you do every trick in the video?
Is there any other way to optimise? Also- what cpu override do you reccomend
I'm not aware of anything else beyond things like setting your os to high performance mode.
For CPU override if your computer is weak I would set it to the lowest value that prevents the game from running in slow motion while dolphin is at 100%. This will be something like 28% on time trials 30fps but more on grand prix or 60fps
I got in working on the setup, the only problem is the slow download speed on the update even my internet is really good. Usually my download speed goes around 20 Mbps (2 MB/sec), but the download speed in the setup is always ranging from 10 KB/sec to 50 KB/sec.
Yes. It is very slow on a real wii too. Fortunately you don't need to do this too often.

i got into ctgp but now ive hit another roadblock with the savestate when i try to load the savestate launching regular mkwii i get IOS,HLE ERROR and then it says cannot load savestate it also says found 0X0 instead of save marker 66 aborting savestate load i also performed the system update and that also says the system is up to date
Does your disc dump match the region of your emulated Wii? Otherwise I don't have a good idea, maybe try adding ctgp launcher to home screen and creating savestate from there? Or maybe launching MKWii from home menu and loading state from there.

Yes, you have to launch with that enabled. I think the problem is that for whatever reason dolphin does something different with IOSs when launching directly vs launching from ctgp. Normally this can be fixed by updating the emulated Wii. But I suspect you might have a different region disc than your system.
Some few questions before doing this:
1. Do CTWWs (or private rooms at least) Work?
2. Can you enable all the codes in the CTGP menu, incluiding the 24 player code if dumped from a Wii that had it?
3. If so, can it connect to a Wii via the LAN functionality?
1. I could not get either to work. And I tried hosting from both the wii and dolphin.
2. I vaguely remember everything in settings working. Would need to double check. And 24 players would probably need ridiculous hardware.
3. Did not try. Will see in a couple days.

Strange. Though you can probably skip it since you can turn dcache off without savestates now.
If you install ctgp, start it, and save the data, the game will crash and Dolphin will also crash.
Furthermore, when you start Mario Kart and load the saved data, the game and Dolphin will drop together.
Maybe try single core? I'm not familiar with any crashes.

Maybe try making a new savestate. And did you do the wii system update? And does it match the game region?
Also FWIW a future version of dolphin will likely let you turn off write back cache while ingame.

It's a laptop. Ryzen 7 5800H and RTX 3060 115W. 60fps is doable on a lot of time trials but I could get almost any grand prix races to run at 30 with the 30fps cheat.
The pointer isn't lined up properly? I can't click the top left of the screen so I can't choose english. My solution was to emulate a gamecube controller but do you know anything about this?
I always used a gamecube controller.
But if you do want to use a emulated wiimote try going to the motion simulation tab and then in the point section adjust the vertical yaw, pitch, and vertical offset depending on what is needed.

So everything works fine: loading menu, choosing profile etc... When I load Single Player or Wiimmfi, the screen turns black and on the screen it appears the following words:
"An error has occurred. Press the EJECT Button, remove the Game Disc, and turn the power off. Please read the wii Operations Manual for more information". Idk what to do. (My PC specs are i5-10400T 8GB of RAM INTEL UHD 630)
Huh, I haven't seen this before. I guess follow the general troubleshooting, mostly the verifying your game and toggling MMU. Also maybe reinstall ctgp with fresh files.

So I got it working. I press launch game it does all the reading disc or whatever stuff. Then when it goes to black it just freezes the fps drops to abt 22 but it doesn't change like yours did so I assume it just freezes. Any way you know to fix?
Try verifying your game. If not then see if toggling mmu or dual core off helps

Try the troubleshooting in the pinned comment, like verifying your disk and single core/mmu toggle.
after i turned off write back cache my game dosen't wanna load anymore and just freeze on a black screen
When you are launching ctgp launcher or mkwii? The former is expected, if the latter then try restarting dolphin.
@@craftyawesome6830 i tried all of that and when i load it from mkwii and trying to load the save state it loads me into the exact same place that i saved in ctgpr but in normal mkwii

Help! When i try to perform the step with an Online System Update it won't work, it gets stuck at 0%, then says unable to install update, check your connection, ive checked it and i even tried using my mobile hotspot so ik its not the conection. What can i do to fix this? I rlly wanna play CTGP

Make sure insert sd card and allow writes to sd card are on. If they already were then refollow the conversion steps with WiiSDSync carefully.

i cant move the ctgp files into the wiisdsync folder, when i try to copy the files it just makes the windows error sound and no error message appears.. ive tried changing the properties of the folder but nothing
Restart your computer for one. But otherwise it might be a onedrive sync problem? Newer versions will use a folder in appdata instead of documents if it doesn't detect the documents one.
@@craftyawesome6830 so i forgot to mention im on android my bad, I looked into it and basically android 11 fucked up storage permissions for apps. I was able to do it on my desktop with no issues. Was hoping to play CTGP on my phone lmao
@@seancurl4102 I don't think any current android device can run it fullspeed. But it probably should be possible, but I haven't messed with dolphin on Android SAF implementation.
@@craftyawesome6830 Im hoping it can run at full speed cause i have a oneplus 9 and it runs mkwii with no issues at 60fps. I did however manage to get wiimmfi working with this tutorial (ruclips.net/video/eU7bzjcBL8A/видео.html). Just gotta wait 7 days for my "console" to activate, i cant wait to see if it actually works or not. Its funny cause the idea of playing mario kart wii on the PHONE still just boggles my mind a bit, this wouldve been a fever dream for me as a kid.

Yes, it is very slow. I do show a savestate trick to turn it off, but it is still slower than normal MKWii.

@@ignmacedu It isn't fast, make sure you give it some time. Maybe try switching MMU on or off, depending on what is already was. And maybe try dual core off as a test.

what are your specs? I have a Ryzen 5 5600g and an RX5500. would that maybe work full speed in a normal race?
Ryzen 7 5800h and RTX 3060 115w (laptop). So probably similar to me (with all perf tricks in time trials some run at 60 others need 30)

@@nivektoad Write back cache being slow makes sense, it is doing a ton of extra work. But why it is slow when off makes less sense (if you do the same savestate trick with vanilla MKWii it runs fine). If I had to guess, either it is often using instructions that aren't in the JIT and is falling back to the much slower interpreter, or is just hitting some pathological slow case in the JIT.

"launch" meaning the ctgp launcher or that works and the game itself is black screening? Make sure write back cache is enabled and you aren't on a broken version.

Hello! Thanks so much for this guide! It somewhat worked for me up until trying to launch CTGP, which it told me that there is an error or youu need to go to the updater.
I'm not sure what to do here. My MKWii dump is good but when I patch it to Wiimmfii, it tells me it is a bad dump. Shouuld I make the ISO the default duump or the duump that has been patched by Wiimmfii? Regardlessü thanks! I wouuld like to know!
The unmodified disk should be default, since that is what ctgp is expecting.

@@AndrewThePoet Maybe something on the sd card got corrupted? You could try reconverting folder to file to get fresh files. Or maybe just try again as the error suggests.
Also note that CTWW never worked for me. Normal worldwide technically did but it is slower than a normal wimmfi patch.

hey so i’m having that common error where it keeps looping at 23% but the rom is a good dump and i tried the no internet trick.
Was it initially a bad dump? Maybe your first try messed up the SD. Maybe reconvert folder to file?
But other than bad dump, I can't make any suggestions other than generic tries like changing mmu or single core.
Question; Why doesn't it allow me to turn on cheats? I'm trying to get the 30fps working...
Are cheats enabled in dolphin config general?

@@mago_48 You can use the 30fps code regardless of mode. It's just easier to get higher fps when it isn't computing other players/computers.
