I am sitting around, hoping Duolingo will start a bulgarian course soon. But for now, I'm just trying to get the hang of the cyrillic alphabet.
It's mid 2020 and I'm still waiting. I speak Bulgarian but want to be able to read and write faster + expand vocabulary and improve pronunciation
I have tried to start one but the project fell flat you could try to begin one though if you have time, go to duo-lingo's incubator to apply to create a Bulgarian course
Find a friend who is Bulgarian (I am tho) and you'll learn faster. On the app HelloTalk there are a lot of people learning Bulgarian. :)

@@xasphyxiatingx This is true :( however casual conversations with a native Bulgarian speaker can help a lot. I have a friend from Egypt who talk to me almost daily and watch Bulgarian TV series and for about 8 months of practice speaks almost perfectly which is amazing. So if anyone needs help here feel free to text me.. I'd love to help as much as I can.. I also have Bulgarian textbooks with grammar that might be useful too.

Cyril and Methodius did not create Cyrillic alphabet,because they created Glagolitic alphabet.

Bulgarian is really difficult language as a Dutchspeaking person. But with this video I will surely be able to read the special alphabet. Next year I'm going to Bulgaria as an Erasmus student, so it would be so nice if I could speak Bulgarian.

Bulgarian alphabet is the most practical.
As a half Bulgarian and half greek who grew up in many countries i would say that although it's very practical it's not the most. That W takes the greek Alphabet due to it's presence literally in every language expect Chinese based ones and another few.
The letter which looks like "P" is actually pronounced like "R" and the letter which looks like "N" ("И") is actually pronounced like "i", "B" is pronounced like "V", "X" is pronounced like "H", "C" is pronounced like "S", "Y" sounds something like "U" but not exactly the same.
"И" is more like the English "e", not "i" :)
@@ЕкатеринаКараянева Not true. ''ИЙ'' is the English E. И is just I, in Russian sometimes it can become JI sound but Bulgarian doesn't have it at all.
@@HeroManNick132here we talk about sound.. "i" is pronounced "ай" not "и" ... so the Bulgarian И is much closer to the English E... plus you're commenting under a video about learning Bulgarian... mentioning what sounds you have in Russian is pointless at all. 🙂

Ö and YO are quite similar! And that sh-ch we learnt from Russian sounds a bit different, sh-t...?
Apart from that it's very easy for someone having learned Russian.
There are no special letters? That change the sound? I can't remember their names, harden or soften the consonant (very similar to YO here)

oh this is easy-at least for me 'cause i'm from Macedonia and the macedonian and the bulgarian language are in the Slovenian group of languages plus Macedonia is next to Bulgaria :)

This is exactly how Romanians pronounce their alphabet also.
Romania used the bulgarian language officially for a long time and then they romanised their language so there are similarities :)

Bulgarian used to have Ы but we dropped it. The closest to Ы sound is ЪЙ which is only in 2 words - тъй, въй.
And I thought the learning the Hungarian alphabet was hard! This is impossible lol!

@@LupcoBocvarov в русском языке, Щ уже произносится отдельным звуком, не как ШТ в южнославянских языках.
Когато членуваме думи на български понякога се случва да добавим “-та” след “щ” - примерно нощ (night) става “нощта” = “the night”. Не знам как бихме го изписали, ако нямахме буквата “щ”. Писането на “шт” в България изглежда много, много грешно.

With our languages have difference in leter "ъ" and "щ", because in Russian ъ isn't reading voice(just like "ь" but more hardly) and щ says without "t" voice. Also in Japanese have same "Russian not normally pronouncing ъ", for example: 金曜日 - kinъyoubi - Friday. Even you can check it 🙂

Е is always pronounced like Э (even though Russian has this but only after Ж, Ш, Ц)
О is always pronounced O and not changed to A or Ъ sound
Щ in Russian is soft Ш, while in Bulgarian there is no soft Ш.
Ь is always paired with О to make Ё sound and it's rarely used like how Ъ is rarely used in Russian but commonly in Bulgarian.
Also Bulgarian lacks of Ы sound and Йе sounds too.

**** anyone who thinks this is the ''RusSian'' alphabet. Who do you think gave them alphabet? It is bulgarian because they created it. To hell with the americans and westeners who clearly don't make a difference or care.
I know that russian was created based on Bulgarian language because Bulgarian one of most old South slovanian languages. I know russian but I would like to learn Bulgarian because I like it and my fiance from Bulgaria

Learning the alphabet is a USELESS thing. You don't pronounce the letters in the words as you pronounce them in the alphabet.
Bulgarian alphabet is way more phonetic than English and French is. Almost every letter is pronounced how you see it but of course there are some exception with devoicing but other than that it's 90% phonetic.
