Me too, working with some Bulgarians and they love it when I try to use their phrases but... I speak a bit of many languages and Bulgarian is quite difficult, making my tongue go numb and how accent on second syllable in common words. Then when I get something down good enough to be understood they say, "well, what we really say most often is ____". What follows is like half the consonants in the alphabet pushed together.

      ... You are joking, yes?
Edit: I'd like to follow up.
Your initial assertion is something I can vividly recall advocating, when I was around five or six. My lifelong friend, (a few months older), said I was dumb for thinking about languages like that. I got mad and started stomping home.
On the way, I calmed down and was ashamed of my attitude and my words.
So, congratulations, you are less open minded than two children from a tiny rural town in Alaska in the mid 90's.
I'm still hoping that what you said was poking fun at people who are either too lazy, stupid, or too stubborn to learn a language other than the one they managed to figure out as children.

You cannot learn Bulgarian because they don't have their Cirilic alphabet codifified in latinic letters !!
It will look to you as you are in the time of old Slav language which is outh of date since Bysantium time !
The best codification have the former Yugoslav nations which is prepared on Europen way not in Russian !
It is left optionaly in bulgarian scriptureing by choice how to use the sounds in letters and that isn't civilian in this 21, century !
All slav languages must be codified with the same pandan of latinic letters !
Funny how bulgarians are called South Slavic branch , when it is Eastern and they are proud with it that are in the South but keeping Eastrrn sounding !
    Not !
Macedonian language is not like Bulgarian with reason because it has conection with South Slav enlightening by Moravian Mission which had free coice how all nations to be adapted as they are pleased !
