that they are facing in trying to rebuild. On top of that probably
all of the insurance underwriters will be leaving Florida or raising
their rates so high that they are unaffordable.
But Govenor DeSantis says that climate change is a figment of
our imagination and closes his eyes, hoping that it will magically
disappear.

I can see insurance companies pulling up roots and saying you're on your own. They don't have the ability pay out billions and billions of dollars every year. Climate change is real regardless of what DeSantis thinks.

Ironically, red states and Republican leaning coastal regions are the areas of the U.S. impacted the most by extreme weather events caused by Climate Change.
Red states like Florida can not continue to deny Climate Change while their state continues to be devastated by extreme weather events to the point homeowners can not obtain homeowners insurance. Mitigating measures has to be taken now if these Florida communities that are at or below sea level want to continue to exist

Hurricane Helene left an enormous path of destruction across Florida and the entire southeastern U.S. on Friday, killing at least 40 people in four states, snapping towering oaks like twigs, tearing apart homes and sending rescue crews on desperate missions to save people from floodwaters.
The Category 4 hurricane knocked out power to some hospitals in southern Georgia, and Gov. Brian Kemp said authorities had to use chainsaws to clear debris and open up roads. The storm had maximum sustained winds of 140 mph (225 kph) when it made landfall late Thursday in a sparsely populated region in Florida’s rural Big Bend area, home to fishing villages and vacation hideaways where Florida’s Panhandle and peninsula meet.
