I recently let go of my ALH Jetta and watching your videos make me miss working on mine. Not that it needed much work cause it’s a great engine but diagnosing and fixing is something I truly enjoy. Thank you again for sharing your experience!
Have to agree, I have 2 of them an 04 Golf BEW MT with 230k and an 02 Beetle ALH AT with 142k. I look at the cost of repairs as a new car payment spread out over the months its either less months or less per month. With regular maintenance and the occasional WHAT THE they have been great cars. By the way I hate CELs so I tend to them ASAP and don't cover them up. 😉
they are worth fixing. (usually). Good job fixing your check engine lights. I hate it when a car comes in and the dash is lit up like a Christmas tree.
My 2013 DSG TDI Sportwagen had the DMF replaced at a decent euro shop here in central IL, cost me $1700 P&L Dealer wanted over $3k and a 35-40 day wait
Great video, as usual! Thank you for putting these videos out! I didn't realize that Volkswagen automatic transmissions had a DMF, but there's a lot about VW that I don't have a clue on. That's why I love your videos.
love those BRM'S . sorry someone could take better care of them. Fortunately, new flywheel.I have 400k miles allorginal and still get 42mpg to 46mgp city. I think I am about to put in my first starter in the car.LOL still got orginal exhaust .
358000 miles shows how good these engines are. I have a 2.0 bkd that is very similar to the 1.9 its on 189000 miles engine pulls like a train and uses no oil. 65 mpg on a long run just passed its yearly MOT with no faults found

my shop is cheaper but of course there are regional differences.
Was this dual mass flywheel failure caused by aggressive driving? Or a slight misalignment in the input shaft? Or …?
Nope. just a normal failure.
Great video, as usual! Thank you for putting these videos out!

Alh goes that far but it a little more rare for a Brm to be that high. Highest I've owned was 525k.
I hope I never hear THAT noise. Sounds expensive!
dual mass flywheel rattle is common. Splines stripping is less common but I have seen it a few times. See it on internet some also.
