got myself a simular situation after i parked my 09 cjaa for a week or two. got some hard pipe/intercooler upgrade from darkside in the UK, got a new battery from advanced and then came down with a nasty seasonal cold. went back to start on it today and it just started and died immediatly. went through several diagnostics thinking i might have left something undone... I just replaced the alternator and serp belt like 1.5 k ago. turned out it was the battery. i unhooked the new one, connected the leads and drained the system, put the old battery in from the passat and she crawled into the garage out of the rain for me. intercooler undone just like you showed me. finishing up with the jack stands now. about to take the whole front off. :)
I like the 2 part videos. I also liked the process of diagnosing and how you tested your guy's knowledge. At first I thought it would be a faulty pressure sensor since we don't know what a working sensor's data looks like. Or maybe the fuel is making up for lack of something else?
The problem could be the key to the ignition not being programmed. On my ‘05 TDI it will start with my non programmed ignition key, run several seconds then stops. I am happy with any length videos. I have two TDI’s and I have learned much from you. Thank you.
I like all your vids, any length... bought 01m valve body from you several years back. Just wish you were closer! By your comment on this one's mileage, I'm guessing the ALH was the apex of VW diesels as far as longevity.
I have a 2014 Jetta TDI and the wires are cut for the CCV breather tube sensor and have looked and looked where the other end to the cut wires are, I'm posting this in hopes of any kind of direction.
My 2.0 pdtdi does the same thing (bmm engine), but for some reson the problem is random. It starts and works fine for some days or weeks, but randomly, even while driving the engine gets sluggish then shuts off when the car stops. Then I can't start it and it does exactly the same as shown in the video. After some hours, the engine starts to work as usual. Do you have any clue what could cause the problem? Could it be DPF related? Also there are no fault codes in vcds! Thanks in advance!
fuel air spark, injection timing, cam timing, exhaust restriction and compression. turbos fail on those alot and the impeller moves to block airflow. We have a 2015 golf here right now with no start due to failed turbo.
@@CoolAirVw yup that's exactly what it turned out to be. I replaced the turbo, now it looks like the head gasket is leaking a little. I'm thinking it ingested enough engine oil from the turbo to lift the head from preignition. Anyway I ordered a set of upgraded 12.9 head bolts from darkside. I'll try to clamp the head down to see if the leak goes away, if it doesn't I didn't lose anything by trying because I believe the head bolts I ordered are non torque to yield style so Should be reusable. Thank you so much for your comments because they helped me diagnose the failed turbo!
This may be a stupid comment, but aren't the intake flaps on those cars to help stall it in a run away situation? Maybe that is what's stalling th car? I'm just throwing it out there, as I never saw anything on it in the video, and just popped in my mind
My guess before part 2: one injector in which the "needle" in the nozzle is held open by some debris, a mechanical problem only, therefore draining the hi pressure ? but why does it start then? let's see part 2 edit: WRONG,it was a clogged exhaust, the damn DPF totally blocking the exhaust!! but i have seen it a few times to be an injector especially on Renault 1.5 DCi cars (Megane ,Clio etc); in Europe.

I learn so much from you. Long videos or in parts is all good. Do whatever is easiest for you to edit and put out. I enjoy your content greatly!

I love that everyone is giving their opinions. Makes me think, did we do the best things, would some other questions lead us to the answer faster.
yey! Courtland is back!
Back, but temporary. Leaving soon.
@@CoolAirVw awww... Good luck to all his future endeavors!
Thanks for these videos. I just got a TDI
The soonest --- moving to 2 parts for my interests would be at least a 1/2 hour , if not an hour , vs 15 min.
Thanks again
thanks for watching and commenting.
I will gladly donate to the channel, I'm a bit stuck here.
stuck on what?
I found your othe rpost and replied to it.

Sounds like a Egr value stuck in open position, and after few seconds exhaust gas choke the intake.
I prefer the longer videos but I usually have a 2hr+ video playing in the background while I work.
nice

we do a repair on those wires in the following video, or maybe in the part two from the following video. ruclips.net/video/1ZCx6bVK6gc/видео.html
very useful and educative

Your PD tdi doesn't have a dpf. cam and crank sensors can cause it plus injector seals. very difficult to diagnose.
Would you buy one with 255k miles
What about a purge valve
Was the gateway module wet inside?
no
My guess is the anti shutter valve. ( if it has one)
we look into that in part 2. Maybe it was the problem maybe not.
300Bar or 30Mpa is normal for CRDi engine at idle..
thanks for that. We dont always know the specs off hand.
that's possibly a blown turbo. My 2015 just had this exact symptom last summer. the stealership charged $900 in diagnostics and just gave up on it.
thanks for your guess. Maybe its close to the right answer. Maybe not. You'll have to watch part 2 to know.
you have dash lights i have nothing when i turn the key
there in lies your problem.
MAF sensor can cause Start stall..or failing injector..also better check the low pressure system properly..
goood guess but no.
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
thansk.
I just did a cjaa a month ago that a broken turbo shaft blocked exhaust flow so that’s my guess.
Or a blocked dpf/cat.
Had a BEW do that once. You may be right on the blocked exhaust flow.
My 2012 ckra is doing exactly this. Very frustrating.
