The difference of enthusiasm between the host's voice and the expert's is hilarious
i enjoy the experts tone more than the host
I have friends that talk like her... They get it from watching too much garbage on the TV like this.🤣🤣🤣
Great to see this building saved.
Man when they put up a dam and pump that water out that's gonna be a lovely smell.
The rest of the embarcadero has to fend for itself.
Sorry, but how does something like this cost billions like he said?! Sounds more like local graft just like the cost overruns for the eastern span of the Bay Bridge.
It's SF so yeah
@@mason5540 Even if it is let’s say $1B even and Army Engineers cover $600M, that means the city will cover $400M. I’m sorry but where does all this spare change come from? The Bayview and Hunters Point still looks like crap. The schools need an overhaul. The streets haven’t been maintained. Crime, homelessness, and drug OD is rampant! WTF???!!! The city was never perfect and it’s never been run this badly before. People are calling San Francisco, Gotham City only without Batman or the new Detroit. My Gordon Ramsay voice kicks whenever they say how much local projects costs, and it’s usually in the billions and I want to say “You morons. It’s costing you 3-4x more than what you should be paying and you don’t care! You’ll just raise fees across the boards and taxes to cover up their financial screw ups!”
They have unlimited money.
He said waterfront wide be billions. It's not just Ferry Building.
Is this because SF is literally sinking due to rising sea levels? Or what's the cause for this
lol I read this as 'razed'
I see a problem with Step #1: "Sink the Coffer Dam Panels"
If it was just undisturbed earth it would be fine but I think that area has a lot of jumbled debris from the earthquake and below that late 1800's sunken ships all mixed into the mud. So it might be difficult to sink those quarter or three eights thick Coffer dam panels deep enough and in a defined line without hitting something.
It is a beautiful and iconic building and worth the effort though so I wish the Port Authority luck.
Didn't they do this in Oceans 12?
bingo.
He used it interchangeably.
They must be waiting for the sea level rise to clean the crappy streets.
It's sea level considered as guest visiting SF from foreign country?
What if in ten years there is no change in the water level?
Right, let's wait and see if predictions calling for this are true or false, how do you save the rest of the city, scammers.
So it doesn't actually need to be done.
"Billions" to complete this project? I wonder how much it will cost be square foot of building space
65 billion?!? Demo it! Boom!
That’s not what he said
I didn’t know the fairies in San Francisco had their own building
They own all the buildings in SF
As a matter of fact, we have districts full of fairy owned buildings.
this guy makes money before or if anything happens.
Why?
It’s said in the video. Global warming will cause the glaciers to melt, raising the level of the bay by up to 7 feet, flooding out San Francisco. So most of the water front will have to be raised up or they will be under water.
To prevent flooding of the Ferry Building. Search Google for "Waterfront Resilience Program" for more details.
Imagine being so out of touch that you think sea levels rising is SF’s biggest problem...
YOU are a FOOL if you Don't think that's SF's Biggest Problem is the rising sea level. After all, if SF is under a foot of water, there will be no SF to have any other problems in. You sound to me like just another Spoiled Self Entitled American who thinks that the World owes him a good life. Well, pal, Reality is that the World doesn't owe you even One Damn Thing !!!
Kpix has been going crazy with this huge green screen. Atleast get a graphic designer. That looks horrible. Why do it if it’s going to look like 20 year ago graphics.
Right, let's wait and see if predictions calling for this are true or false, how do you save the rest of the city, scammers.
KPIX reporting is gradeschool. Everyone's wondering how this helps the surrounding area which you can't raise? Who cares about this building if the entire coastline of SF goes under water! And if you raise a building by 7ft, it means you have to have stairs to access it unlike now. Are they going to have surround just the building with stairs?
whose money is this wasting
Who is paying for this?
2:01 US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) paying 'up to 65%' of the billions of dollar price tag based on the video. Congress funds civil works activities of the USACE each year under Energy and Water Development appropriations acts.
So "mostly you" (as a taxpayer)
You and me
😂😂😂😂 Seriously? US !!!
@@chrisbrowne4669 I use to work for the SF Port Commission. Unlike other City departments, the Port as well as the Airport are two departments that actually make a profit. The Port receives its revenue from commercial property rent and from the shipping companies in the form of wharfage, dockage, and demurrage fees. Your property taxes goes into the City's General Fund, but the Port does not draw from the General Fund. The Port actually pays into the General Fund for services that other departments supply to the Port. So, the short answer is no. San Francisco property taxpayers are not paying for the raising of the Ferry Building.
History lesson for everyone climate doomsday sky is falling weirdoes. The SF water front was built on landfill so the rise in water is mother natures way of saying (Don’t Fk with me! This is my planet not yours). The entire Bay Area coastline didn’t always exist. The entire bay was once further inland to the Oakland hills and the entire central valley was the largest lake in the world 1000s of years ago. All of this is “climate change” issue is part of the evolutionary growth of the planet we all call home. Humans were never meant to be a permanent fixture on this planet.
The news is so bad these days. An All time low.
waste of money.
They're doing this based off a hunch that the sea level will rise 7 feet over the next century. lol. What a waste of money.
Might be a lot cheaper to build a new Ferry Building from scratch on higher ground than attempt a project like this.
