The fact that sf needs experts to tell them that "legalizing theft is bad for business" is both sad and hilarious.
Exactly!
I am so sick of that word "expert"! That's a favorite buzzword among Socialists. Whenever some idiot says something that promotes oppression and censorship, the news manufacturers will refer to the jerk as an "expert" and demand that you obey his word without question.
You know what a real expert is? Anybody who lives life in the real world, has to work his butt off to pay the bills, and knows how to manage things to keep his head above water.
Unfortunately, Socialists are so conceited, they have a superiority complex and think the average, working class person is too "uneducated" to make his or her own decisions.
And they're all scared to death to say it for fear of being branded as racist, homophobes, Nazis and enriching else.
Its b/c liberals aren't logical critical thinkers. Try explaining cause and effect to them and they'll claim you're part of the patriarchy....
@@jeffe_77 Because a home cost millions normal people can't pay that so I hope people move to Tennessee lol people are going there cause a home there doesn't cost millions
Don’t need “experts” to point out what’s wrong.
Any person can take a walk in SF and see what’s wrong 🤡
Exactly. Unfortunately Mayor Breed and the Board of Supervisors can't comprehend this 🤦♂.
The natives keep screaming.... Our Streets! Let them clean it up.
Yes it doesn’t take an expert - everybody knows it was the pandemic 🤣
Let spend a half million studying the problem, and come up with solutions that sound like all the solutions that didn't work.
Yep. Experts and "Consultants" are not needed, but common sense (among SF's "leaders") is.
This is not a business issue, it's a lawlessness issue. People are sick of having lawless people breaking in and defecating outside of their buildings. It's unbelievable that they just put their head in the sand and talk about their plan to reinvent SF business.
Yeap the 24/7 Crap park called San Fran Sicko
Rufus is clearing a liberal dreamer if he thinks his plan is going to work
That ain't sand......
Al;l those empty space make great places for SF to be a "Sanctuary City"!! (Question is, sanctuary for what??)
There is no need to lower the taxes. There is no need to give incentives to businesses. There is no need to re-invent the wheel. All it is needed is a safe environment for tourists to visit. Is it that difficult to do???
Being from SF and having moved, I'm so glad that the policies and politicians for which they voted have done exactly what everyone sane thought they would do. They get exactly what they deserve. Defund police and vote for prosecutors that don't charge people with crimes and this is what happens.
Yep....... Common sense, sensibly described.
They know this but they don't care. It's all by design and all on purpose to destroy this nation from within. But you know...conspiracy theories, right.
I hear you, but police and prosecutors are really just revenue collection agents for the city. Prison is big business. Long term, average people need to elect their own sheriffs or become vigilantes and protect each other from the city.
Indeed.

The last time I visited SF, parking was a big problem. Many of the parking lots were covered with broken windshield glass.
I worked in SF at 60 Spear St for about fourteen years from c1990 to 2005. The decline was well underway before I moved on. I remember walking to Stacey's and passing several homeless including one especially strange gesticulating guy with crazy eyes. SFPD knew him by name and he knew they meant business. I gave up on Stacey's when Barnes and Nobel opened a store somewhere near San Mateo and I discovered an awesome new and used bookstore near Stanford.

I left SF in 2020 and the state. Whole foods on Market St. had a bum come in and in the lunch area of hot foods he would grab a chicken part and munch on it and put it back in the container. It's disgusting what's going on there. I was eating lunch one day in my van and a homeless woman walks in front of my van bends down and takes a dump. In the summer nude guys walk around the Castro with kids everywhere. They just had to make sure if they sat down they had to put a towel down. Thanks SF. You ruined the love of my life.
Why does everyone in America except city politicians know what the problems are in all these cities?
You're looking at this from the wrong way. Nothing is wrong, the politicians delivered precisely what they were voted in to deliver. This is what the majority of people want. They like the anarchy and lawlessness. They like the homeless encampments so long as they aren't in front of their own houses. They like big business fleeing, profit is a dirty word anyway right? The police are fine. It's the DAs and the local politician with their "reformative" laws that are the issue
you going to lock up 90% of everyone? Because unless you address the issues of unaffordable housing, livable wages, access to health and education, and corporations & the wealthy paying their fair share of taxes, the homeless and crime issues will never stop. Poor people have to eat, and will do what ever it takes to do so. A little thing called The French Revolution taught us that. Remember what happened to King Louis and many of the greedy entitled rich in his court? We can both agree punishment is in order, we just disagree on who deserves to receive it. Cost money to put people in jail alot of it is mental health
The city didn’t care at all… until businesses started to leave taking their tax dollars with them. Then they were like hey wait where are you going?
Nearly 25% of office space is becoming abandoned and there are literally thousands of homes that have become abandoned as well
Stop crime, prosecute criminals & stop taxing them out of business. They got what they voted for, and will probably vote for the same things.
It kinda worked until recently. San Francisco didn't change their political landscape much in the last 10 years, but what did change is the wealth gap, particularly in ultra-rich regions like California, to a point where it just became completely unsustainable. COVID was the nail in the coffin. SF is the new Detroit now because, as history repeats itself, the greed lead to tax breaks for big corporations, who then returned the favor by bailing the minute things got bad, and what's left is a shell of a once great city.
Yep, how typical. The old greedy companies screwing the working class excuse. 🤦♂️
@@max420thc Not really an excuse, just reality. It happens everywhere, but places like San Francisco are a one-trick pony that invested too heavily into a single industry. Cities like New York, despite having the same policies, got away with barely a bruise - crime rates are still below the national average - not because of some conservative superhero, but rather because the economy is diverse and NYC had the ability to survive COVID.
@@darkwoodmoviesno its just progressively getting worse in the last decade at least
There are plenty of people in the surrounding areas of San Francisco that could go there for entertainment, day trips, etc etc to spend money and increase the wealth of the city. We are just choosing not to go there or spend money there because the city has been on a stead decline over a long time that has shifted to a rapid decline in recent years. Poor management (governor, etc) trickles down and effects the whole. In an effort to be inclusive San Francisco has included a recipe for its own demise.
The anchorman said it was a "disturbing trend", but it is not. This is what leaders in California wanted when they rolled out Prop 47 and reclassified shoplifting from a felony to a misdemeanor.
it was a misdemeanor, now it's a non arrest crime.
TREND? It's normal
No, it's always been a misdemeanor man. Your 3rd one is generally a felony. They made it a non arrestable offense. I mean, it depends on the value. But usually it's petite theft, which is a misdeamanor. It can jump to grand theft, depending on the city from $300-2000.
Nah this is what the majority people wanted
I remember when they did that. I couldn't believe it. And almost overnight crime went up.
Turning offices into residences is a lot more difficult and expensive than one might think.
Morons who never built anything keep pushing this.
It’s impossible. No one has the money to do that, and if they did, only criminal scum would dare to live there.
It would be cheaper to build a new building from scratch, but once again, why? So tenderloins finest can live there? Who else would?
What a shock that allowing homelessness to flourish and not arresting shoplifters would cause such chaos. Who'da thunk it!
The zero bail thing is absurd. OK, one pass on a very lesser crime. But there are criminals charged numerous times and not getting jail. Society can’t survive without the enforcement of laws.
I think the idea in theory is fine. You get bail if you deserve bail without money. If you wouldn't get bail anyway, you don't get bail. If anything, bail should be free BUT should be more strict across the board, and should come with a much more strict punishment and no bail allowed for repeating offenses.
Its scary, a guy stole my car (completely totaled) a few years back, figured out who did it..... SJPD said they were just going to cite and release, it was very scary and worried me he would make more victims

Office buildings are made for cubicles and restrooms that serve dozens of people. Getting permits would take forever, then you have to add plumbing, wiring, walls, kitchens and bathrooms adding weight to an old building. Hopefully the tools and materials are not stolen. Once the building is done the landlord has to deal with all the rent control and eviction protections. Good luck finding an investor.
Good luck putting in new plumbing. Drain pipes and vent pipes really need to be put in building plans originally. 1 toilet needs a 3 inch drain pipe, 1 shower needs a 2 inch pipe, plus they need to be sloped at 1/4 inch per foot. Plus they need vent pipes also, 50 toilets and 50 showers... Forget about it. It's easier to close off a whole part of building and add space for pipes to go from basement to roof.
who cares about all that. just let the homeless move into empty office buildings.. there problem solved.. HA !!!!
Tragically if it wasn't for dumb ideas, they wouldn't have any ideas at all.

I don't blame the mayor. The problems SF has began a long time ago.
I lived in SF at several points in my life. I can remember when, 10-15 years ago, friends I had across the US would frequently choose SF as their prime destination for a long weekend of shopping, wine tasting, dining, tourism, etc. Since then, I can't recall anyone saying. "hey, I'm heading to SF to enjoy the weekend." The last few times I've been there, the streets were a mess with tents, vagrants, pan-handlers, garbage, etc. Honestly, Tripoli and Caracas were in better shape. Seattle, Portland and parts of LA are similarly afflicted.
The one time i was in san Francisco was 2013 and it was F*CKED UP third world country then. Its worse than havana, with the same extreme wealth overlain the abject terror of what is happening on the sidewalk. I have never seen anything like it. It seems the situation has not improved. The craziest thing to me is how deep in denial people are about how bad it is. Its bad. Uniquely bad.
as a resident of placer county, roughly a two hour drive from SF, i can't believe the civic leaders would allow this to happen to the city. once one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Many friends and family would visit and always want to go to SF for a few days
And what's the common denominator in these cities? Progressive policy-making.
But according to these progressive Soros funded DAs and council members...this is progress..a progressive utopia...a glimpse into the future for every city...recalling the previous DA of SF was a good step forward in correcting this..but you will need to start voting for effective leaders and not voting blindly for DNC Democrat candidates
I think its important to delineate democratic run cities from the horrorshow of progressive san Francisco. I had lived in Chicago for several years. Yes Chicago has problems. Yes Chicago is nearly bankrupt. San Francisco is in a totally different conversation of completely ruined. Theres a typical town, then democratic run cities (which are most cities and all cities have a lot in common) then theres 50 miles of bum shit, then theres san Francisco.
I left 14 years ago and never want to go back
The city needs to be more compassionate to the crooks and druggies.
But one change we can make is to have stores who loose merchandise to shop lifters is to have them pay sales tax on the lost items. That will give us more money to waste on people who study the problem, and give us solutions, which are just the old solutions we tried in the past.
I moved out of San Francisco 12 years ago and back then the city seemed to care more about businesses and tourism but not anymore. If you can't support the business climate in your city then any place will become unlivable.
And now for Reparations. Bravo

It’s filthy, unsafe and depressing all at once. To us who live in the wilderness, there’s like a subsonic vibration of depression and despair in the City.
The residents don’t notice it because it has developed slowly over a long period of time. And they’re busy just trying to survive.
And that is sad because my wife’s parents came here in the thirties from China to escape communism. She practically grew up in Chinatown.
You get what you Vote for.
This has been coming for years.. One day about 10 years ago I was going to go to a safeway while I was waiting for the caltrain to get something to eat... the safeway was closed at 8:30 pm.. Pathetic. These problems have been evident for over a decade... Due to inaction it's festered to the point where there is no returning from it... Even if the city provided HUGE incentives... You still hvae state level issues to contend with... No sane or even insane business will touch s.f.
If only Karl Mulden and Michael Douglas were still around to patrol the streets of San Francisco
When big companies were leaving years ago, arrogant CA politicians said, no problem, someone else will take their place...guess that's not happening...
As a Bay Area resident that lives waaaay in the suburbs, congrats SF! You finally created a total mess of your own city! Keep it up!
If your voting democrat than your too are to blame for cali being destroyed.
It doesn’t matter how you vote. On a few years you’ll all look back and realize that this situation is happening all over America. And it has nothing to do with your political ideology. It’s because collectively, you’re historically stupid. There are just too many idiots for your society to be sustainable.
@@MA-yl1er Let's be clear, California is not destroyed. You probably haven't been here or else you would know how gorgeous the vast majority of the state is. That being said, there are small pockets of each state that are completely screwed. Austin, TX, SF, lots of run-down towns in the south, etc. But no one would every say that Austin represents the entire state of Texas in the same way that SF does not look or feel like the rest of California.
@@xtype2006 i agree . And i have been all throught cali but that was years ago.
@@MA-yl1er Come back and explore the parts outside of SF. The natural parks, Yosemite, the wine tasting of Napa and Sonoma, the gorgeous southern California beaches, and cozy cabins of Lake Tahoe. Don't let Fox news trick you into thinking that SF is the entire state of CA!
Haven't been back in years and don't plan to either for many reasons.
Some of those futuristic movies where cities are abandoned to the criminals don't seem so unrealistic now.

The same thing is going on in Portland and Seattle. We need change in leadership!
It's working as they intended. Nothing you can do.
Stop voting for leftards! (Oh, by the way, I'm not American.)
At least go down fighting. G Washington tried it and the powers from on high helped. Do the right thing and things will right themselves.
The _only_ chance for a change in leadership, is for the locals to admit their political views are responsible for the conditions of the city. It means not voting for lefty progressive types. But, will they learn or admit this? Not likely.
SAY THAT LOUDER!!!!!!!! Many either cant hear it or it does not compute!
When this sort of thing happened in Detroit they acted like it was no big deal, it was a troubling trend as well. Politicians just kept doing business as usual. Now Detroit is a wreck of its former self, boarded up businessrs and homes few jobs and few opportunities. Once you start losing big and small businesses you lose jobs, a decent income, a good life and your citiy dies. San Francisco is on that very same road, and the people who created the decline are the ones that everyone is looking to fix what they deliberately broke, because it was so awful the way it was. Now you get to see just how bad it wasn't, and your never going to get it back.
Mandatory 10 years in Jail for robbery. No court case, just apply the law. That would stop it overnight.
Here is a start : clean house at city HALL
Or send city hall to clean streets, literally.
They want to revamp the city with “new key industries, like A.I. and biotech”. Nothing dystopian about that…
It’s only dystopian if you’re an idiot. You have to remember, america has always been a dystopian hell hole for someone. Maybe it’s just your turn.
Leaving business decisions to city hall is a HUGE MISTAKE!!!
It's not about taxes, the fact of the matter is that it's alot cheaper to buy online because you have more variety of colors, prices, sizes, discounts.
SF used to be one of the greatest cities in the world. Now they've made it completely uninhabitable for businesses and the working class. Everyone should leave. Seriously, what's the incentive to stay? City officials have been preaching this and that but it's all BS. Nothing is going to change. Time and time again they've proven their incompetence. Unless you're an addict or a city official, SF is a lost cause.
The addicts are numb to all this I guess.
SF was so magical.
How can this once great city implode like this?!! NO LEADERSHIP.
Mayor Willie, we miss you!!
There will be more empty spaces if senate bill 553 becomes law 😮😮😮
"raising concerns"?????? the understatement of the century.
if I were king of San Francsico I could fix it overnight. It's actually so easy. welcome to my ted talk.
1. robbing a store is a minimum 1 year in prison. first offense.
2. breaking into a car is a minimum 2 years in prison. first offense.
3. Being caught with heroine or crack is a minimum 1 month in prison.
4. NO more free needles or drug accessories.
5. bridge toll back down to 5 dollars to enter SF.
6. meter parking costs cut in half.
7. It's now legal to fight and restrain robbers. In fact there's a reward for it.
8. pooping in public is a 2 month jail sentence.
9. 1000 dollar fine for littering
10. no more discriminatory hiring practices. "Diversity" and "equity" hiring is now illegal. Disband and fire all job titles such as "diversity and inclusion manager". Gone.
11. Fire EVERY single person paid to fix the homeless crisis. cut ALL funding to homeless crisis. (We tried throwing money at it. it didn't work. it just encourages it.)
12. Bring back looney bins. Throw fully mentally ill people in there. (ones clearly not fit for prison.)
13. build a freeway that passes through SF north to south. No more driving along 19th ave at a snail's pace.
oh it would cost money to jail these people? who cares. Money well spent. SF has lost 10s of BILLIONS of dollars because nobody wants to be there anymore
solved. offended? don't care.
chef's kiss
Fantastic job, Democrats 👍👍👍 drive away those pesky businesses and taxpayers!
Mississippi, Kentucky, Missouri, Indiana, and Luisiana (I can keep going) enter the chat.
I used to visit SF in the 80s. Fine dining. Far less homelessness. Moved there in the 90s, and was noticeably worse. Left and never went back. People saying it’s even worse now when it was already bad then.
It is orders of magnitude worse 😶😐
The 90s was still a viable timeframe for daytime shopping and visits and sites and transit- just avoid some areas and be careful after dusk.
Staggeringly downward spiral to today is almost impossible to fully describe as to the levels of badness from the really sketch to outright filth in large areas in 2017 too. It was not safe outside certain isolated purely residential single family areas then, and public transit was highly ill advised.
Now?
Now makes the 90s seem like glory days of wonderful. Yup that bad
@@seaneendelong8065 Sounds totally hopeless and dystopian. Then I am so glad I enjoyed it while I could. My 80s visits were heavenly then!
A very large convention group I was part of pulled out of SF in 2017. The handwriting was on the wall then.
The funniest (saddest) part of this is watching the mainstream media act like they don’t understand what the problem is.
Protect the narrative first.
Once upon a time, the envy of the world.
Wasn’t that long ago.

What needs to change are the elected politicians... Corruption is ruling now.
No, liberalism is full blown.
At this rate ill be able to get a 2 bedroom apt in downtown SF for $500 a month 😅. Thank you Mayor London Breed and DA Brooke Jenkins. Keep up the great work.💯👍
My opinion...remote work. When we had Verizon call center and at&t back in the day across the street where I work, it was a cycle of economic boom. We had hundreds of employees visit my business for lunch Monday to Friday. And it was constant busy. We cant afford to be remote. We need to be proactive. It might have been hectic most days, but it was fundamental to our survival. And the economy prospered
I’m not going back to a blue S-hole so that I can buy lunch there. I’ll take my own lunch and not spend a cent.
What can be done? Stop voting Democrat!
right i only watch fox news too
These libs vote democrats until they die. 😅
@@jimcrackorn SF got what it voted for. Has absolutely nothing to do with fox news.

One way the crime situation can be solved without increasing the tax burden is to allow people to defend their own property. An armed guard with a dog would close the open door. Of course, the lawyers suing over the use of dog/force need to go overboard too.
Only the work boot store hasn't been robbed.
