Beautiful yet life threatening. If you were not in the control room and were anywhere near that reactor, you'd be fried to death. Plus there could've been radiation during the purge since it was overloading
@@vertatestera5858there isnt any context (to my knowledge) on if a xenomorph could withstand nuclear, cherenkov, or other forms of radiation so i guess it’s mixed opinions
@@AurelionSass the devs even said that Amanda happened to just miss the queen at the right moment. And they couldn't implement the queen properly during the game's development.
@@AurelionSass I read its because the developers didn't want a boss fight or disturb the stealth vibe of the game with too much action. However, perhaps they could have incorporated some type of sighting or brief encounter.
The Sevastapol central reactor probably emits an odor that smells like the hot air that is blown out the back of a barber's electric razor. Especially after it makes that BBBBBRRRRRRRRRRVVVVVVVVTTTTTTT sound.
Well you need to remember, Ripley went deep into the nest and likely riled up all the Xenomorphs within it. So there was likely a decent amount of them that left the nest to go hunt her down, and of course because she riled them all up, they definitely sensed that there was danger and fled the nest as fast as possible.
I imagine the 2 above comments are correct The aliens more immediately at the bottom of the direction probably died, others were far enough to start running or not be damaged enough to die
@@CapralHarrison Didn't really do much tbh. More than anything it made the situation worse since doing that meant the whole station was infested with xenomorphs instead of just the 1 that was stalking the station for 70% of the story. Leaving the nest alone was probably the better outcome since the hive probably would have stayed out, at least for a while.
So the colonial marines can kill xenomorphs with some grenades and high powered assault rifles but a rector purge won't do shut to them? What kind of sense does that make.
I try to do this part stealthy and these freaking industrial joes see everything. I'd be 50 yards away sitting in a corner crouched-"Running causes accidents" so I mostly resorted to bolting them as well lol
Im stuck in the room. Approaching the door and it won’t open…. i broke the game 🙄 no communication with Ricardo either and im not trying to do all that again!
Great part, true. But its not only great part. There is moment when Amanda is inside room at Medical (if i recall it right) with HUGE windows. This spaceview is...stunning! Something to ogle and ogle, shame Alien is lurking around. Another great part is when Ripley returns after Anesidora explosion - with all that alarms going insane and feeling that whole place is now falling apart.
I am painfully stuck on this part of the game in nightmare mode. The only ammo I have left is one shot of bolt gun and shotgun. I seriously have no idea what to do. Running doesn't help, trying to be stealthy does shit. FML.
Same here. Nightmare level, 3 shotgun bullets and 1 Molotov. That's it. Can't sneak past the droids, can only kill one. And no ammunition anywhere. I need help.
@@FirstDan2000 I went on Steam Alien Isolation discussion for help. Someone suggested I restart the mission. I was able to do it that way. When you first have to visit the reactor, try and sneak past the droids there to use less ammo as possible. It's tricky but helps. I was only able to find like two bolt guns redoing the mission. But I ended up with like 9 shotguns and 7 for the revolver. That helped immensely!
Yes, past this part at least. Thanks to ruclips.net/video/1avIZk4wBWY/видео.html I copied her moves on the droids and found more ammo once past the first 4 droids.
The sounds the reactor makes are really beautiful

The look and sound of the reactor is more terrifying than the aliens.
Can we take a minute to appreciate the rain and wind effect, along with the droplets hitting the window part, its so surreal
This whole game is beautiful.
absolutely fantastic, mesmerizing scene. this game pays maximum respect for the original movie, and goes beyond.
imagine shaking a wasp nest, this is like that but on a bigger scale. Even Xenos dont like being evicted from their residence
Perfect sound design
One of my favourite scenes of all time in video gaming history. This game really was far ahead of its time

That would be called Ozone. Otherwise known as O3. And yeah I would bet it smells like that most of the time in there.
7:53 great aim, rip
Yeah
Badassery is a common genetic trait of the Ripley family. Amanda obviously got it from her mother
05:44 The Best part of this level.
In hindsight, this was a bad idea and just made it worse for everyone since now the whole station is full of xenomorphs.
the sound design is so incredible it might be my favorite sound of any video game
This game’s sound design is still amazing ten years later

I don’t understand how they survive and escape. I mean the xenomorph could have been dead. It was burn underneath the ground to the nest
Takes a lot more then that to kill xenomorphs

I think purge accomplished it main priority - it burned and blew out the nest and queen in it, but some of the drones were on the way out

It killed most of the hive but some stragglers made it out and not every alien was present at the hive.
@@theinkslicerOh. I see. hence the line "there are still SOME on the the station" after the reactor purge. She killed a lot but not all of them.

What is the reactor purge?
Whose are those humans?
this part on nightmare mode is annoying asf with no ammo

Best scene in...honestly, a mediocre game. This was the absolute best balance of stress, fear, skill and payoff in the entire game.
