I want a car that can drive itself like a Tesla. I know self driving cars are perfect for people who can't drive or people who don't like to drive, especially on certain roads, such as the turnpike, interstate and freeway.
I have been old enough to drive for QUITE a while and I can't wait for someone to take this thing that EATS all my money. This is way better. Also Ross MK, I don't think anyone in the states drives a manual transmission. I've never been able to hire one when I go there.
Technology will still have to advance a lot further before one can say a fully autonomous vehicle will be safe on the road.....just too many pitfalls & problems at the moment...for a start & to just scratch the surface, some might find it interesting to watch the RUclips video...."The driverless car scam"
How come you only see these cars driving in US cities with massive wide roads and no traffic probably 5am in the morning. Try it in a UK city at rush hour no chance.
Ethical quesitons are senseless after some time cause if every car is autonomous outside and if every one of them comminicates with each other there wont be an accident where you have to decide between a person and a thing, it will be extremely safe, My only question is how will these autonomous cars react when an ambulance must drive extremely fast an ill person to the hospital ? Will they react fast ? Will ambulances also be autonomous ?
Would someone care to explain how self driving cars has anything to do with The Jetsons...? Just because The Jetson is set in the future and has lots of future tech in it, it doesn't mean it is a relevant reference for all future tech.
David Esparza what about drunks who murdered your sister who was a biologist for NASA or maybe your uncle who is working on the cure to cancer killed by a drunk driver. 1000 times more common than some hacker.
Already been proven can be done with Current cars on the Road. Mainly due to Bad Practices by old companies who do not understand ITC Security. The only hope is these Tech focused developers apply better security. But fact is all Digital Networked Systems can be hacked. Just how Difficult.
David a couple of RUclips videos on the subject you might find well worth watching..."The driverless car scam"....&...."The terrifying truth about self-driving cars"
Basically would be similar on haig. A regular driver's license these days, but requires a more strict qualifications and a car that have full manual driving option, assuming most cars in that future doesn't even have a steering wheel. There might be a new market in the future for that and some country roads and few suburb roads would be exclusive for manual driving. Race track might be also become cheaper and gain popularity to the masses. It will be weird future but interesting.
Absolutely way to many components that are being added to a driverless car. And the possibility of systems that will fail is 1000%. Even the back up systems to back up the main system can and will fail. Anyone who thinks nothing will ever go wrong is a FOOL! The whole concept is absolutely insane just imagine thousands of driverless cars on the road and thousands of systems that can and will fail and not to forget cyber hacking that will most likely occur. God forbid that driverless cars ever hit the road!!!
Self driving cars can probably handle a large number of standard situations, but certainly not everything. However, that is not the biggest problem. What if an accident is unavoidable, will the car decide to run over the little girl or hit a tree? Can we leave decisions like that up to a machine, do we want to? And who is liable when a crash does happen, the "driver" or the car manufacturer?
"What if an accident is unavoidable, will the car decide to run over the little girl or hit a tree? Can we leave decisions like that up to a machine, do we want to?" - I think this should be left to the owner of the car to decide, since the answer given to this scenario does vary from driver to driver. This could be a simple menu setting, and each owner could decide for itself what the car will do in such situations. "And who is liable when a crash does happen, the "driver" or the car manufacturer?" - The car manufacturers, since they advertise the cars as fully autonomous. If they won't come forward and take on this responsibility then no one will use their systems. I assume they already know this, and hence the long time it takes to put this on the market (it's relatively easy to make a goodish self-driving system, but it's hard as hell to make it near perfect, and they all seem to go for the "near perfect" solution).
dr4t if the car values lives of the occupants less than external meatbags, many people would just buy those which put the occupants first and traffic rules violators second.
The car would invariably decide to hit the tree, because the occupants inside the car would have a greater level of protection than pedestrians. Of course, autonomous cars will make mistakes, and these mistakes will be made very public, but the data from those unfortunate accidents will be studied and used as a learning experience for millions of other vehicles (even ones already on the road - Take Tesla for an example, their cars get regular over-the-air updates and their autonomous driving skills improve month by month). Over time these vehicles will be many, many times safer than even the best human drivers.
Waste of money and time IMHO. People 'love' to drive their cars. I've driven a Mercedes 300h with dive assist and it was poor at tracking the car in front of me; besides, I'm a robot of a kind, a biological organic robot and I 'like' to drive my car and am fairly good at it. Why would I want to sit in a car and let a computer drive it for me!? For cities, it might be useful. To be frank, given the state of the earth, we need to get off the roads more, work from home and largely give up the car. Every bit of gas we burn is just another death knell on an already depleted world. Autonomous robots that can clear brush out to avoid forest fires getting out of control - yes that's a good use for robotics. That's wear investment should go, that and recycling technologies that use robotics.
Appreciating a woman's looks is not sexism. She's obviously more than just her appearance. If there was a handsome man doing the presenting some women (and men) would be commenting on that.
Are you assuming the gender of those commenting? I, for one, am a cyborg, lesbian, hermaphrodite, and I think she's an attractive figure of a humanoid! Would definitely interface.

I don't fancy a self driving car. Sure it would be handy now and then, but I am not old enough to drive and I am still looking forward to it
RGBPlaza Maybe manual will mean you're driving the car soon lol instead of manual transmission.

Can't believe I missed this at CES -.-"
Autonomous robot cars will make the roads safer !
Every other day, I see a hooman driver that is running a red light or making trouble on the road.
all your base are belong to us

I don't care. I am not leaving my life in the hands of something without hands. Ill take death by human anyday over AI
How come you only see these cars driving in US cities with massive wide roads and no traffic probably 5am in the morning. Try it in a UK city at rush hour no chance.
micro chips, I'm ready to let you drive me around.

I want a gas powered autonomous SUV

What's her name? For research of course.
Night Shadow LINDA SARSOUR
After the driverless Uber fatality, I don't think I am not trusting tech.
If it doesn't fly, it's not a Jensons car.
i think all the insurance companies must be really upset right now
Looks like that car is slow asf holding up traffic.
Oops, your robot of the future just murdered someone....
What about joy and pleasure of driving ? What about large group of car enthusiats ?
I think we are all going to be screwed.
People still ride horses and race horses.
Go hire yourself a Silverado and drive it in the COUNTRYSIDE.
Yes, we want smart cars, we’ll also need smart roads, smart parking and... smart people to operate them.
what about hackers remotely controlling the cars?

Stroker and Hoop!
What was the video about? Kerry’s Gorgeous figure made me stoopid. She is stunningly beautiful.
shes straight hot yo
What if it gets hacked
B.. B. But I like driving :' (
John Doe true but I would not be surprised to see a day where people need a special license to drive their own car lol
Vivek Murali we can call it something along the lines of a "driver's license" or something ;)

autonomous driving doesn't need to stop car crashes all together, it just needs to be better than human drivers.
And that NOT difficult
olen...take a look at a couple of RUclips videos on this subject...."The driverless car scam" & "The terrifying truth about driverless cars"
too damn gorgeous...chest pain
First Comment!!!
Peple do ont always make mistakes when they drive. I would not have any trust in a driverless car.
Tesla is going to win the race
wasn't she going to have a surgery?
Yes, but these were all filmed before. I'm just home from the hospital. Hiii!
hi! get well soon..big fan!
Thanks! Healing as fast as I can!
Damn she's fine as hell.
Until on day
She's a triple threat brains, pretty face, and a banging body. Some guy is a lucky dude.
I really don't want this to happen!
no one complained about airbags or abs LIAR

Oh my god, so many sexist comments.
so. many.
Kerry Davis So its that bad or.....good?😉😉😉
