  • In this episode: Luke and Tommy carry out remedial work as per observations noted on a recent EICR. These observations included fault finding, earth bonding and a consumer unit replacement. The kitchen was first-fixed/rewired afterwards ready for a new kitchen to be fitted.

      not if they decide to renovate the house an move walls build extensions on the place, they may even decide in a few years to tear the place down an rebuild, real shame sometimes when they favour building new houses instead of ( if possible ) save the older houses ....

      @@MyTrustedElectrician Yes, it holds me up too. Just spent about 3 hours this evening on the new video. Cutting out all my "um"s. Then got bored of it and just speeded the footage up by 1.25!! I have so many snags with my set up, the most annoying being losing lip synch quite randomly and often.

    Top notch Luke, keep em coming... I'm sure I don't need to tell you but remember to provide two separate 13A single socket-outlets for the WM and DW, I came across a job where the installer had fitted one 13A double socket-outlet both the WM and DW. He/she obviously couldn't see a problem with it, two appliances two sockets 😂😂😂

    I always use 48mm KO boxes and I've used conduit in the wall a lot too. The only thing I can see against it is where the leaf is only 100mm thick, cos theoretically according to building regs you're only allowed 1/3 depth in the leaf as a chase. Thanks for the video.

      @@ashmanelectricalservices4318 I'm feeling a bit battered from some quite justified slagging off of some not very neat job I did in a basement in the comments of my latest video. Do I love chasing? Yes I quite enjoy it, I've got the metabo kit that Nick Bundy had for free. Having said that last summer I got the most horrendous hard engineering bricks in this bungalow kitchen, which was a total ball ache and caused some real wear and tear on my tooling.

    For long screws and deep holes, I use 'cut to length' plugs which come in 300mm lengths (Blue, Green, White and Red for different hole/screw sizes). They are also more robust than normal brown or red plugs.

    Trial & error ? Your not a car mechanic- use a meter🤗🤗 Tommy has a good teacher knowing when to use old tricks(my dad taught me cable measure 65 years ago in yards) and mark lines so you can plan layout . As a homeowner I wish it was all in conduit for changes without destroying decor. I would have complete rewire but cant totally redecorate.

    Hi, excellent video!
    Quick question: I am having a periodical electrical checks done by my local council. I have some heavy furniture with lots of stuff covering some sockets which will be a pain in the proverbial to move around: Two of the sockets are permanently off and the other two sockets have extension cables running behind the furniture. Will I need to remove to furniture to access the sockets I use, or can you do a test just using the sockets on extension cables? Thanks

    • @uplightuk8924
      @uplightuk8924 3 года назад +1

      If it’s done properly then yes, they will need access to every single socket in the property.
      However as it’s being conducted by your council I highly doubt they will do it properly and will probably only need to access one socket on each circuit. Source: I sub-contract a council and sometimes have to smash out 4-5 EICRs a day..
