Got cat fished once... after about 5 hours he unintentionally told on himself. He told me not to go on Instagram (because apparently he saw the real guy was on the main page ). Since then I video chat with people the first day (if they dont, I move on). I've been talking to someone for 4 years now. We video chatted everyday since day 1. We met in person about a year ago.

I was so confused as to how they were able to catfish her since we had been watching the show TOGETHER. But somehow they did. For MONTHS. I had some people look into who was doing it and it was some girl from California. Then the person she thought it was actually died in real life though I found out the catfish came back around a month or so later trying to say they weren't really dead. I don't know how it all ended but I'm glad it did because its really a shitty thing to do to people.
The show Catfish is still very much real, but a lot has changed since it got popular. Lots of clout chasers want their 5 min of fame so they get on the show and act dramatic for the camera, knowing that they really did catfish an innocent person for a check. I've read from multiple sources that the production team already know who the catfish is, But Nev and Kamie do not. So, the production team pays the catfish and other person in advance and has them sign stuff, and essentially put Nev and Kamie on a scavenger hunt to find out themselves. So, at the very least, their reactions are genuine because they have to figure it out on their own without help from their team. It's the clout chasers who make the show "fake" for certain episode. In defense of people who get catfished (not all of them, I can't defend you all), some feel like they will never get another chance with someone who appreciates them, or they feel a real connection and don't want to give on someone they are falling in love with, so they ignore signs that the person is fake. It's always the "what ifs" and "I don't wanna give up on them so quickly". Also, some of these people are old heads and just don't understand the dangers of online dating at their old age, but we should be approaching a time where that doesn't happen anymore. To leave on a slightly positive note, there are quite a few episodes where the catfish turned out to be who they really said they were, and some even got into long lasting relationships because of this show.
Aint nobody gonna start a relationship from meeting someone at Target bruh. You need to meet people at social events where people are open to talking to strangers. And alot of people nowadays would rather stay inside than go to a function. It makes perfect sense why dating apps have blowned up recently with how antisocial people have become

Never go to their house, EVER, until you really know this person and have spent quality time with them. Because if someone can be married to someone and don’t find out that they’re a psycho until years later, you definitely can’t just trust somebody you just met 💀
