Awesome video brother! Would prolly be best to lower the piston away from TDC just a bit so that the broke piece can swirl and change orientation to allow it to exit. If it made it through the precup onto the piston for example. I’ve fought swelled glows on an old 6.2 before. Never broke one off though. Happy new year up there!!
I've been enjoying the videos. I do have a question, I have a 79 Eldorado with the olds 5.7, my question is what is the fuel line sequence coming out of the injection pump. I've read the "11'' O'clock position is for the #1 cyl but does the firing order run counter clockwise or clockwise ? Thanks
Question i got a olds diesel 350D block and the casting numbers above the timing chain next to the oil neck reads 7582 D3 i seen a 350DX block i wanted to buy and the casting numbers read 7582 GM 5.7L D I've see other 350DX blocks with out that extra "GM 5.7L D casting other than that everything is the same as my 350D block so is that unusual? Thanks
Hey…. This is Randy…. As to your question about the casting numbers on your 350 “D” block… I have two blocks here myself… both are “DX” blocks…. But…. They have two different casting ID’s in them, like you were talking about! Right next to the oil filler neck.. one block says…7582 GM 5.7L D… the other one says the same thing you were talking about…7582 D3…. If you were to look up Oldsmobile casting numbers on the “Frequently Asked Questions..Oldsmobile site “… those casting numbers in itself..7582 D3.. and 7582.GM 5.7L D , both denote… a 350 cubic inch, V-8 small block Oldsmobile diesel engine. I know you may think… well… I could have told you that much… but in all reality.. there isn’t any difference in the two blocks… If you say you have a “D” block.. with those same castings on them… it still means the same thing… but … mind you… I myself.. would NOT try and spend any $$ on rebuilding the “D” block… way too many flaws with that block.. to make a dependable engine… sorry to say… let me know how you are coming along…… Randy
I'm grateful for this channel. There aren't many people producing videos about these engines.
You’re very welcome! -Randy
