    I can't believe that the work we have to put into a brand new Addi knitting machine to make it work properly. It was expensive to buy, thinking I was not going to have this much trouble with it.I really believe everyone who bought this machine should complain to the company so they fix these problems before selling them .

    I just fixed my Addi to your specifications. WHAT A DIFFERENCE! Prior to fixing my Addi was skipping stitches and I didn’t know what to do. Now…I’m 67 and I’ve been hand knitting, crocheting and embroidering since I was 9. Now I love the creativity of hand knitting. But my Addi is my baby, and I love love love it for basic knitting. I followed you tutorial step by step AND IM BACK IN BUSINESS!!!!!! From the bottom of my heart I thank you so much. Oh, here in Texas we drink Dr Pepper soda. My shim was made from a Dr Pepper soda can 😊. Have a great day.

    The way I fixed ours was that I removed the little saddle piece that is below the handle shaft (Not shown in this video). I removed a slight bit of material from its edges then shimmed below it with aluminum foil folded several times. By doing it that way, it tightened the shaft bore but yet allowed the shaft to ride on its original surfaces and moved the shaft vertically which allows for it to mate with the ring gear better. I am very surprised that the maker has not addressed the issue. I guess they don't have any ex Mercedes engineers on staff.

    The teeth on the crank are tapered so by adding your large plastic washers you will pull the teeth away from the teeth on the large ring thus making it worse...if you put a small washer behind the small gear on the shaft it will push them closer together.

These Addi machines are just too expensive to mess up like this or they should have thought of the ideas you created in this video.

    My addi won’t go around in a circle. It is stuck in panel mode. It will not go around in a circle even if I change the switch. Can you advise me what is wrong?

    My addi has worked beautifully for many years but grinds now and is hard to turn. This maintenance needs to happen. I am awaiting lithium grease and then my hubby says he will take this apart for me.

    I worked 3 hours trying to do this and no matter what I couldn’t get a clean cut hole in the middle of the plastic circles!!!

    • @dianemakes
      @dianemakes  2 года назад

      The hole does not have to be perfect. As long as the notches fit, it will work.

    I think it’s a shame a company like Addi sells such an expensive machine with a PLASTIC crank that merits dozens of RUclips videos for people to jerry rig their own machine after a month of use because the design is so flawed. This is a great fix but we need to all contact Addi and request refund for such a flawed design that we all have to “fix” it. My machine is a month old and already needed this fix and that just disgusts me. Come on, Addi. Maybe up your quality!?

      I agree 100%. There’s no reason for it. The cost is also over the top.

      I totally agree … better design, better quality, everything like I bought my machine in April/23 & it started out fine. Started skipping with the brand Red Heart yarn. It won’t run with that yarn period. It works with other brands but not Red Heart.7 months later after using yarn that would work, it won’t crank past the black needles. This machine is just soo expensive. I’m not a mechanically inclined person. I’m definitely irritated. 😤😡

      Agreed, you have a warranty & they should mail you new parts "if" you buy from an authorized dealer in your own country. I checked out sewing/vac stores & found Maker's Mercantile in Kent WA

      Also the fact it takes 12 cranks to do one rotation is ridiculous, it needs some gearing so we can do 2 cranks per rotation then we'd not have to use drill adaptors!

    I am honestly so lost. My machine works well with all the yarn I have except one black one. I have the exact same yarn in yellow and the machine works without issue. But the black yarn, is tensing up and making those cracking sounds and I can't even turn it. That, or it drops stitches. No other yarn has issues, but this particular one and is driivng me crazy.

    These things are £150 new and they can't even build them properly. Pretty disgraceful that we have to do these fixes TBH, they need to release some new models with the issue solved.
