  • My Addi started dropping stitches grrrrrrrrr.
    So I came up with a simple hack which so far is working for me.
    I hope it helps you out if you're experiencing the same very frustrating problem with yours.

      It's so annoying isn't it. I'm working on a project now and one of the yarns I've used the machine loathes the others are fine...go figure

    Thanks for that idea. I was so exasperated I stopped using the machine (and we all know it costs quite a bit). In addition by counter doesn't work properly. I feel like I just have to rebuild the entire machine. I watched another RUclips video about taking the machine apart, cleaning gears, etc. which I did...not sure it helped much. I also just ordered a magnetic counter from dopamine Innovation...recommended by another RUclipsr...I look forward to getting that and then trying your cardboard trick. Thanks again.

      Hi Yvette, I have since stripped my mahcine down too and cleaned the inside but nothing much has changed. I couldn't see any damage inside either so like you say it's a real pain!! My counter is working ok thank goodness, but your alternative sounds great. HNY

    Just tried this on mine and it appears to have corrected the issue, along with focusing on a slight tension and running the Aidiler motor, slowly, but constant. Thank you for posting...
    Will give this another round to see if I can finish out a hat.
    I ordered another Addi King and a Sentro 48, last night for just in case, so I can finish out what I have been trying to do for a good while now. My 8ft. long, flat bed loom doesn't grieve me as much as this Addi, and I have wanted success with this Addi... for so long.
    Thanks, again.

      I have had this one for 10 years, next week, and tried everything to fix it but never thought of your paper concept. I shared your video link on a Facebook group for Addi's and ladies are already responding that it fixed theirs, as well. Thank you so much! I am subscribed to your channel now. Already excited to try some of your techniques. Thank you for making the videos! They are a blessing and a joy to watch.

    I did something a little different with mine by threading the yarn through only the top of the tension component, instead of running the yarn completely enclosed in the tension carrier. Seems to work so far.

    My Addi Express, very new, 0nly arround 150 double sided hats, is turning really stiff. I took everything apart and lubricated the bottom of the needles and some other parts. Also a new handle with new crank wheel. All of this didn't solve the problem. Can you help me to overcome this problem?

    • @user-vp4hv7zw7v
      @user-vp4hv7zw7v Год назад +1

      Without yarn it turn ok. As soon as two rows are cast it starts turning stiff. Is it possible that I assembled the black thin ring wrongly? There is only one way it fits or not?

    • @craftycaz
      @craftycaz  Год назад

      @@user-vp4hv7zw7v So it was stiff before you stripped it down and re-assembled? If so sounds like you have put it back together ok. Some say not to lubricate and to be honest I did lubricate mine and then I didn't like the feel of it so stripped it all back again and cleaned it all off with warm soapy water before re-assembling. Normally I'd say it was tension that was causing it to turn stiffly but the only thing that springs to mind is the 2 screws that go through the arched black plastic piece that holds the handle mechanism in place could be too tight.....how tight is the handle when cranking without yarn, nice and loose or with some reisistance? It should be quite liquid. Let me know how you get on. The other option as the machine is quite new is to message Addi direct. Good luck I hope it sorts itself out. All the best Caz

      @user-vp4hv7zw7v Год назад +1

      @@craftycaz Hi Caz, thanks for your advise.
      Yes I tried everything, loosen the 2 screws that hold the black arched metal.
      It's a new handle with the crank, so that should work ok.
      Today I got rid of sharp edges on the red ring.....no effect....little lubrication on the inside of the red ring...no effect.
      Without the red ring, the cranking go's smoothly.
      As soon as I put the red ring in it's place the turning is heavier and with yarn even more heavier.
      I have send a message to Addi in Germany.
      I will contact them today by phone aswell.
      I have seen in some video, somewhere, that there is a special way to put the parts back again.
      But the golden ring is circulair, so that doesn't matter how you palce it.
      The black thin horizontal ring, can only be placed in one way.
      The black high cylindrical inner part also has one position, with the triangle dent at the front where the yarn holder is.
      I let you know if things get better.
      Greetings Hella

      @@craftycaz Hi Caz, I have cleaned the Addi and used WD-40 for lubricating. This works much better. Without yarn the turning go's really smooth. With Yarn it also turns smoothly but I think I have to change the position of the needle and the red ring and the black ring, because it is not going perfectly. How to assembly in the right way, are there any video's?

    I do not have a machine but I have noticed that those screws that are holding the ring down *are* pretty far away from the feeder. Would it be possible to buy two more little clips and screw them in a little closer to your yarn feeder? Since I don’t have a machine I’m not sure what does under there, but since there’s two screws already it seems like two closer to the feeder wouldn’t damage anything.
    I know I’ve seen little clips like that in hardware stores. I don’t know what they use them for. I assume it’s to hold something close just like that. You might try where they do frames. It seems like I’ve seen something similar in picture frames. Just a thought. I’m still saving my pennies for my machine but I’m really enjoying all the videos.

    Hi Caz. I am dropping stitches every time when making the winter waffle beanie but my yarn feeder is not loose. My Addi 46 machine is only a few weeks old and I don't use a screwdriver. Any ideas? It's only doing it on this one style of project. Regular circular knitting isn't giving me problems. Help please!

    • @craftycaz

      Hi Jenny, sorry to hear this. My inclination is to think that the yarn isn't under the hooks all the way, so keep an eye on the patern rows until you get back to your normal knitting rounds. Go slow and maybe do a test swatch? Fingers crossed for you

    This is a very clever and nice fixing!!! I will try with it with mine!!!! Thanks for your excellent tip!!!! By the way, do you have any idea of how to lubricate the yarn using liquid silicon lubricant?. Some of the yarn I am getting from friends appear to be very rough to the tact, and I wonder if it could be soften with silicon like you do with embroidery thread. I was told to wash the yarn in the washing machine adding fabric softener and just dropping the whole skein in the machine, and then to allow to dry in a warm room. Please, let me know what do you think about that. And thanks again!!! Happy New Year 2024!!!!

    • @craftycaz
      @craftycaz  7 месяцев назад

      Hope it helps. I've heard of some people using drier sheets, and silicone ear buds which they run the yarn through whilst knitting. I'm not sure about silicone products and there's always the allergies thing to consider too. I've also heard about pre washing the yarn, maybe give it a go, I've never tried it myself. Hope you work it out
