Love John in the rocker at the end, totally drained. That woman is a total beast and ended up pushing him. Eating up 120# dbs for RDLs. Man ... I struggle with 60s. Squats ... "easy". Belted squats ... no, not stopping, Coach, and did more. Ends with 20 rep hacks. And barely breathed hard, made it look EZ.

many years ago i would use a bench etc for squats...it really made sure i focused on squats and quads not thinking if i was going to high or to low... if i needed it higher i would add a 2x4 etc... i found it very helpful...

What is the main reason you like to use the high box squats? I'm guessing your trying to overload the quads with heavier weight but why these over other variations?

When you said you did 3 sets of 8, are they all to failure or just the last set? I usually just do the last set to failure so around 3-4 sets to failure on each bodypart (more on back). How do you determine how many sets to failure you want to go?
Not sure if John will see this. But I have a hack squat question. Any time I use a hack squat machine I can NEVER get my foot placement right. They are what built my legs though. That being said, yes they work and build my legs, but because of the fact I’ve never been able to get my foot placement right I have always struggled with having all the weight shift to my knees and back during the set and I can’t do it anymore. I’ve tried so many different placements and angles and can’t get it right. Not sure if this is something he can make a video on and explain. And before anyone makes BS comments, no I am not pushing with the top of my foot, I am not putting the weight anywhere but on the heels of my feet.
Hey John, on the leg curls Ivana was doing in the beginning it seemed she was using the momentum of the weight for the first few reps. Is this alright or drop it down for a more slow and controlled movement?
@@mountaindog1 the problem is with that is asking a decease person, that wasn’t perfect, to pray for you, which is necromancy, and is an abomination to the Lord(Duet 18:11-12). The dead can’t hear you(Ecclesiastes 9:5). As a saved Christian you have one mediator, and that’s Christ (1 Tim 2:5). We can’t go by what we think(Isaiah 55:8-9) we have to go by what the scripture says, not what someone you call father says, which is also blasphemy to God(Matt 23:9). Peter himself says listen to God, not man(Act 5:29)
I think I saw her in a mini doc idk if ot was gen iron. She was trying to get a pro card. She looks like the same girl idk but I liked her competing in that movie or doc. Very good workout guys, now @mountaindog1 when doing the stiff deadlift I used to bring my hands all tje way down and coming up I would bring my hands slightly above my knees. Is that too much, is that wrong?

12:27 got to interject here, folks doing this exercise need to treat it like a squat. As in neutral spine. The constant bopping up and down of the torso is not beneficial to maximizing this exercise.
With the weight hanging at the hips and out in front of the body as opposed to straight on top of the shoulders you'd be putting some horrible torque on lower back if you stayed straight on that lift. Simple physics.
A reverse band in this case reduces resistance as the lifter approaches the hole. Generally this is a weaker position for a squat. Also, John clearly wants a quad focus on this exercise: the adductor magnus and glutes tend to be recruited more at the bottom and less at the top. So this allows for heavier loading at the top of the movement (and therefore more quad), whilst still allowing a full range of movement.
@@timcooper2077 so that’s why I can’t load up my Hack. When I get in the hole my back hurts like hell. Probably because the glutes are to weak to handle the load. I’ll try the bands.

Whats' the difference between DB RDL vs a BB RDL? More back activation?
Easier on the wrists which helps a bit with focusing on feeling the hams better

You can walk the db’s down your shin more so than bb in a more neutral state keeping less strain on your lower back.

It was plate loaded not cable-loaded so it could be that she was getting used to the resistance curve i guess?
