Synopsis: Inspired by such films as Rattle and Hum and Endless Summer, Fading West follows Grammy-winning alternative-rock band Switchfoot as they travel the globe in search of new musical inspiration and perfect waves. Directed by Matt Katsolis and filmed during Switchfoot's 2012 World Tour, Fading West charts the creation of the San Diego-based fivesome's upcoming ninth album in its earliest and most unpredictable stages. As the band visits legendary surf breaks in Australia, New Zealand, Africa, and Bali, brothers Jon and Tim Foreman breathe fresh life into their songwriting and sound by harnessing the spirit of their stunning surroundings and mining new emotional depths. Part rock documentary, part surf film, and part travelogue, Fading West offers rare glimpses of the longtime surfers on their boards and in the waves, captures the frenetic energy of their live shows, and in the end portrays a journey both epic and intimate.

It's so awesome y'all are also fans of Switchfoot! Not many large channels are as open about their faith, but I really appreciate those like you who are championing for Christianity. Yall and Destin from Smarter Everyday should definitely do some sort of a collaboration, as y'all are the only popular channels open about their faith!

Caught this tour in Missoula, Montana...what an incredible journey these guys have made.

Is it just me, or have they done exactly that throughout their musical career. The Lord has changed my life through their songs…and I thank Him everyday for them.
What I love of Switchfoot is that they are constantly improving. Every almbun they record us even better that the last one. Since I was 13 I hear their music, I grew with Switchfoot's music and I can say their music has influenced my life in many aspects, musically and personally. Can't wait for this new album!
I cant stop watching this,the little music clips get me pumped,I get emotional with the family footage and love watching them doing what they love and inspiring us to be who we are,to seek for the higher power,and remind us that in the storm,we need to reach after Him and be an example to others #proudfam
This is what it looks like to never compromise quality for deadlines. This is what it looks like to go against the flow of mainstream music. This is what happens when a band stays true to the reasons they started making music in the first place. These guys have been playing for nearly 20 years now and still seem to be on the ASCENT of their full career.
Can't wait for this to become my favorite documentary.

Being a surfer myself(i live in hawaii) is one reason why i fell in love with switchfoot!... Plus their lyrics are awesome and focused on God and Life!.
I'm in my mid-40's and discovered Switchfoot while watching Joan of Arcadia- my daughter said, "Yeah, I have their album," when I asked if she'd heard of them, and soon I had all of their albums to date. Middle age didn't keep me from being on my feet at their concert in Missoula on the 18th. It was great to have them in our little hamlet! THANKS FOR COMING TO THE BIG SKY!

The wait will totally be worth it. I remember them announcing starting this, then going on tour and seeing all the posts about them going EVERYWHERE, and now it's within sight. And it's also cool that they're from my hometown. :P

Yup! The songs featured are "Ba55", (opening), "Edge of the Earth", (middle till 1:20), and "Worth the Fight" (around 1:24) - they'll be on the FW album releasing this October.

seen this before they came on stage at a concert 2 weeks ago!!! it was amazing seeing them live for the first time! my reaction at first was "OMG THEY ARE REAL!" and im not even joking. its literally unbelievable what they do.

Hello Switchfoot :D I´m from Ecuador there are many fans here, there is a very famous beach called Montañita, it is great for surfing and of course for make Rock and Roll, obviously I will stay there, and all the fans of Ecuador and other countries of Latin America, there are many people, consider that, it will be a sucess, We love your Music :D

I think this Christian debate needs to end. They are a great band and that's that matters. the beauty if switchfoot's music is it can be perceived however u want. and I don't know about u guys but I am super psyched for fading west!
