- In the second installment of "Fading West Behind The Scenes", the band ventures to South African where they discover the raw beauty of Cape Town. Wild and untamed, this region of the world is home to frigid water, huge waves, hungry sharks and brave surfers, all of which the crew encounter at the Crayfish Factory, a renowned big wave spot where they paddled out with big wave surfer Dougal Paterson. Later, the band finds inspiration in an unlikely place-a small township located in the South African interior. Part 2 of 4 part series.

About "Fading West" the movie:
Inspired by such films as Rattle and Hum and Endless Summer, Fading West follows Grammy-winning alternative-rock band Switchfoot as they travel the globe in search of new musical inspiration and perfect waves. Directed by Matt Katsolis and filmed during Switchfoot's 2012 World Tour, Fading West charts the creation of the San Diego-based fivesome's upcoming ninth album in its earliest and most unpredictable stages. As the band visits legendary surf breaks in Australia, New Zealand, Africa, and Bali, brothers Jon and Tim Foreman breathe fresh life into their songwriting and sound by harnessing the spirit of their stunning surroundings and mining new emotional depths. Part rock documentary, part surf film, and part travelogue, Fading West offers rare glimpses of the longtime surfers on their boards and in the waves, captures the frenetic energy of their live shows, and in the end portrays a journey both epic and intimate.

AWESOME seeing You Guy's having Enjoyed Your Time in South Africa... 🌟❤🇿🇦❤🌟
We don’t have lions wandering around our camp sites . Saying we do does make the show more exciting though . That surf spot is not Crayfish Factory . The paddle out was but the surfing wasn’t . This video is a prime example to all to question what you are watching and what you are been told . The producers of this video were not averse to spicing up their content to generate thrills .
That was VERY big surf these guys paddled in to. Unbelievable! Great series to coincide with the album AND film, Network_A!
Mostly shot at sunset a heavier break
You make It sound like we have lions and other wild animals just wondering around free.. Well for those who do not know, most, if not all of our wild animals are kept in game parks, behind secured fences in SA, including lions, rhinos, hippo's, cheetahs, leopards, giraffes etc. These are controlled areas of land, like very big zoos.
indeed. looks like sunsets
That's sunset reef - not the factory. Respect for paddling out though :)
that is crawfish factory
100% there are some shots of Sunsets. You can see The Sentinel in the background.
Sick!!! Watching the previous vid... I didn't know they surf! And they rip too!!!
The song at 2:40 is a b-side that didn't make it on to the album. The plan right now is to release a movie soundtrack later this year alongside the physical release of the movie that includes the songs in the movie cut from the album.
