  • How (NOT) to load a film in a first generation Canon EOS 650, 620, and 630/600 Analog Camera.
Before opening the back of your camera ALWAYS check to make sure it is empty, or the film has been completely rewound. Opening the back on a partially used roll will ruin the part that is exposed to the light, even if it was for just a moment. Film is incredibly sensitive to light and even the tiniest bit will expose it.
Since time immemorial, the two most common errors people make with analog film cameras are:
    1) not loading the film properly, so it doesn't wind on to the next frame and the film ends up blank; and
    2) opening the back of the camera before the film has been rewound so the film gets exposed to the light and the photos get ruined.
All Canon EOS film cameras have motorised film advance and rewind to automate both the film loading and rewinding process to help avoid these two errors.

What eyecup does this camera take? I've been trying to figure it out and all the forums are dead. Hoping you can take a look at yours

The Eb eyecup, same as the EOS 5D Mk I and Mk II. Easy to find on eBay.

The film roll counter on my 620 keeps blinking everytime I load and reload my film, what should I do if this keeps happening

Is the battery OK or getting flat: how many bars are showing when you do a better test? Is the camera otherwise working?

Hi! I opened the camera, and the E symbol appeared. Do you know what to do? I only took 4 pictures

If you opened the camera then the 4 exposures already made will be ruined.
Best bet is to open the back again, take the film out from the takeup spool (being careful not to pull any out of the cartridge) and rewind the film by hand leaving just the tongue out. Load the camera again and release the shutter 5 times to get past the exposed film, the rest should be ok.
