This is very nice. I've been using this type of wire since 2016. We called it Speed Wire back then. I have it installed in both of my vehicles.
yep
This is such a game changer for everyone! I love the fact they give not only heat shrink but ferrels, which still alot of people don't know exist, but labeled heat shrink and braided loom? Why to go T Spec!!! Thanks for the video Dean, quality as always.
I used this type 8 9 years ago lol
Go to lowes get some s/o cord.they have several different sizes to choose from and its 1/4 of the cost🤷🏻♂️and its good copper wire.we have thousands of feet of it at work.we use it on motors and electrical panels all the time…
@@bkh5746 This, is the right answer.
I don't usually see the 10+ strands at lowes in store anymore. Nassau online has the 18/10 at 1.70$ a foot. So 20ft is 34$. Where 20ft of 18/11 tspec is 55$ on the low end.
Now tspec gets you the ferrels, jackets, and whatnot. But if you're like me and just solder your tips, the soow cable is plenty good.
But tl;dr, don't poke yourself in the butt if you order tpsec. Still good wire, thats not crazy overpriced.
Not really, does the hu support the same gauge? Probably not.
Ferrules do more than give you a solid pin and clean connection. They also prevent stray strands of copper wire from falling off the connection and getting into the amp and damaging the amp. Budget tip if you don't have ferrules or money for them you can use solder to tin up the wire ends into one solid end. If done right this too will prevent wire fraying and will even help prevent wire corrosion.
I've switched from Stinger's distribution and fusing products to T-Spec. On average, each one of their pieces are smaller and more robust in my opinion. The plastic covers have not cracked on me like the one's from Stinger do. I picked up one of their 4 gauge amp kits and I'm very impressed with the cable that came with it. I need to see if there are different grades of cable. Stinger's line up started to get confusing but then again, I've just lost interest. Some of their products still look identical to one's the had in the 90's. A lot of us now want a power and ground all in one style distribution center. Stinger doesn't have one. Heck....Streetwires, Monster, and even Audiopipe has one....currently!
This speaker wire looks really nice!
I’m using their stuff now (thought about to use the Audison all-in-one power and distribution block most likely) and my only real issue is the fact that their mini-ANL holders almost always have issues actually fitting a fuse in without a lot of work. Beyond that, GREAT stuff and priced great!
I love T Spec and am absolutely in Love with their new 4 way fused/ground distribution block! Literally has everything to power 4 amps plus a built in turn on lead relay. It is the perfect solution I've always wanted that I was actually so close to 3d printing/manufacturing myself! (Only thing better would be a version that can bolt directly to the battery terminals eliminating the need for input wire runs but that's just wishful thinking. My design was going to bolt down across the positive terminals of two batteries)
Always impressed by T-Spec. I've been using their product ever since Metra introduced the line. I used Tsunami before that.
wish i found this video before installing the old style wire in my brand new truck lol. Oh well. If i ever have to re-wire down the road, il update it to the new type.
Yeah,I love that T-Spec wire kit but also they have some sexy looking fuse holders too
Stinger is on notice 🤣🤣🤣. That is a super nice set of kits.
Finally , the audio gods have sneered all our prayers
Love the T-spec distro blocks, compact with enough sizes for everyone, I would like to see a review on that new one with the built in relay for amp remotes, that could a huge game changer.
A nice alternative to using a ferrule to terminate wire, I like to tin the end up (apply solder) that goes into the amp so the strands don't get damaged and the set screws won't ever loosen up.
Solder is a horrible conductor and that is what is making the connection between the amp terminal and the wire itself. You're actually doing more harm doing this. More resistance, more heat build, and the solder will actually make the connection more fragile. I've done a lot of contract work for General Electric, ABB, Siemens, and Cutler Hammer, and they want a crimped connector on every connection for a reason. You will never see solder outside of a PCB.
Silver solder is an excellent conductor for pure silver is the single best conductor of all metals. All done.
BTW, the contractual requirement for a crimp was simply for its structural properties. Unnecessary for tinned wire ends inserted into speakers, amps, blocks, etc., however, silver soldering/brazing is well-known for high-strength joints. Removing any oxidation/tarnishing prior to making connections with silver tinned wire ends will eliminate any possible resistance.
Labeled heat shrink is very cool.
Yeah, that peaked my interest, more so than the complete package ☺️
That's awesome for door speakers but on my subs I prefer to use 8 gauge Tspec.
We call this a medusa, prv makes it , they come with pairs of of rca along with power neg and remote
Glad they updated because the previous was a bit trashy. I use T-spec still, but was changing it on my upgrade to system. I would like to continue using them and their newer stuff does look much more promising 👍 the v16 rcas seem much more nicer than that crap v12 which they need to make better
You ARE The man!
My wires run in 8 different directions soon as they leave the amps how does this help
This is designed to go from a amplifier directly to a head unit T harness which has all the OEM speaker wires together.
Your application doesn't seem to fit this product.
Yes to all of this!
You guys Rock!!!
Do u guys have a video with installing multi conductor wire installs ?
I've been using 9 conductor speed wire since Metra first started offering it and I've been begging for somebody to make a 16awg version!
This is awesome!
Light tin of solder helps on those feral ends
Do You primarily use a bundle like that to go from your head unit to your amps. What other application would it be used for?
Also wondering
I only use it when I want the ability to return vehicle to factory. I build a harness that plugs into factory speaker harness. You’re still using the factory speaker wire ran to the back of the head unit. Then you can run this to an aftermarket amp to power the aftermarket door speakers.
I can see this, in this size, to be used to go from an amplifier back to a factory wire harness, to distribute the amplified signal all in one bundle to the speakers. I would be concerned with signal noise, but at lower wattage, say below 11wRMS, I don’t see too much issue.
How can this be use?
I’m probably overthinking this, but in a typical system like in my case Ive got a corner tweeter, front door and rear door speakers so 3 speakers on driver side and 3 speakers on passenger side. One run would leave me with 2 pairs unused and I would have to buy another one to run on the other side?? I find it easier and cheaper to probably make my own with 3 pairs!
This is meant to be used between an amplifier and a T harness at the factory head unit. It's meant for a stock four Channel setup. If your vehicle has six channels, no passive crossovers on the tweeter, then this product isn't really going to work for you. It's not going to work for every application, just most of them.
Switched from AAMP products to a lot of the Orca products with iConnects to sell, but if this is available in a spool, I’m gonna have one special spool spot available for this. It’ll make 4ch installs that much more convenient (less profit on the wire but who cares, it’s about time too)
They misspelled Flexible! On the box description.
Hey most people run there door speakers with the 18 gauge factory harness. So when people use the 16 gauge 9 wire. Won’t that be some sort of bottle neck going from a larger gauge to a smaller one ?
Not really as the theory is to maintain the power over the length of a cable as the longer the run at a smaller gauge there is loss. 16 Gauge run from the trunk to a deck area would allow less loss from the amp to the front of the car and then using factory off to the speakers. You can kinda think of it as a three lane highway for the first 16ft of wire that bumps down to a 2 lane highway from behind the deck. This allows more flow of traffic over half its route before slimming down and not letting as much traffic in like a two way highway for the whole duration of the run would. Sure there is a step down but the flow to that point has low loss.
Now this is not the science or calculation answer on this but I think the point can be had so I hope this disclaimer keeps the trolls away.
@@meseone920 thank you. Very much Now I got a better understanding of this
Ferrule crimps are NOT designed for re/multiple crimps. The material will become work hardened and fail prematurely when you insert them in to terminal blocks. Crimp once to anchor the crimp to the wire, the screw terminal on the block will do the rest. The crimp is just to hold the two together until you put it in the terminal.
I "need" to buy a ferrule crimper even though I don't do this often like an auto audio installation shop would. Or I could just solder it.
What are the 2 extra wires for tho??
Subwoofer
J.s i really wanted to use speed wire but it was only 18ga . Im running 300watts rms to each door . 18ga ant it lol. 16ga still ant it lol. 14ga would have been real nice .
About time. Hopefully the prices is reasonable
129.00$ to 145.00 what I saw for the kit
@@slowbrezze 😳 USD?
I should be able to buy one over here for about $600 then.
@@everyhandletaken yes usd
Has anyone measured the actual conductor to verify it is 16 / 18 gauge? I have checked several brands of 18 gauge speedwire, including stinger. All were either 20 or 21 gauge.
Ok my question is if you was gonna use a roll of this wire to run from youre amp to 4 speakers how would you do that without adding more wire or without stripping to much off it
It's typically meant to be used from your amplifier to a T harness near the head unit. It just taps right into the factory speaker wires.
OK thank you is the t harness something you have to make up or can you buy it
@@jesseedgell8698It depends on the vehicle you have. If it's a somewhat common vehicle and fairly new then Metra and similar companies probably have one available. Other times you might have to take an input and an output harness and make your own t-style harness. Or basically, you can use the speed wire for any vehicle where you have an amplifier in the back and all the stock speaker wires are grouped together in the front near the radio.
@@JasonWW2000 ok thank you
@@jesseedgell8698 Speedwire itself is nothing new. Some people need to use it in their install and some don't. The thing that's special about the wire in this video is that it all comes in a kit with labels and heat shrink. 👍
Is it shielded?
please get a Phoenix Contacts ferrule crimper and you will never need to crimp more than once ever again! spendy but worth it.
Product falls short in one feature. Speaker pairs should be twisted to reduce signal bleed over. Same for remote on, twist it with a ground. I will continue to run wires separately.
sooooo..It's T-Spec branded speedwire? Cool.
Well one of these days I'll start using ferrels...when Kenwood stops using spade connectors. 🤣
link to buy?
I prefer optic fibre. Less cable to run if you are installing an amp in the rear of a vehicle. And lighter.
You can't run an AC power through fiber optic. I think you're confusing this product with a signal cable. This is meant to go from the amplifier output to the speakers.
I don't think 16 gauge should be used for a sub but if your only pushing 3 or 400 watts I'm sure it's fine. I personally use 8 gauge seeing bout 3k per sub. It's prob overkill but ehhh
I’m sorry, what is the orange pair use for?
subwoofer. I would think. But 16 gauge is too small for me on a sub hookup.
I actually feel rather sorry for someone who spends $40 grand🤑 on a truck and go shopping for a $500🤑 amplifier.
If the orange was a large gage I would be interested.
How much RMS could go thru the 16 gauge?
It depends on the length and frequency range
What type of speaker will you use?
Plenty generally for audio AC current
I'd say 200rms is fine for door speakers. Depends on what it is powering a speaker or a processor.
This should piss T Spec off: I like to use 12 gauge for my wire :p
I feel like the speed wire is just to small for amplified systems. Plus that is crazy expensive, you can get 100' of OFC 16 gauge speaker wire for $100 less.
yup.. i like "crosslink wire" all speaker wire (twisted) in one tesla tape and signal wire in another bundle. all better for smaller space routing. that t-specs to big!
Is this wire Pure OFC Strands?
Says OFC on their website. And for the price I would expect it to be OFC. About $130 USD for the 16ga 20' roll.
@@HoUsEoFcAtS78 yikes, that's a lot of money for convenience and lack of versatility.
Cool, 😎 can you maybe do a quick video on their new distribution blocks? There isn't a lot online or their website about them
😂 He said girth!
Change the game, man.
I'm not sure how anyone who might use this product professionally would consistently call it "wire". A wire is always single conductor. This product is a "multi-conductor cable", or just simply "cable".
So for a five channel i guess ok 👌
I missed the part that made this so different
It's a complete kit, meaning you don't have to buy all these parts separately.
These are literally sold out everywhere online, sheesh lol
😍😎👍
and it's out of stock everywhere lol
A product to copy what LLj customs has been doing
This has been out for years
They spelled flexible incorrectly. 🤦♂️🤣
They should have made a 6 pairs + 1 turn on wire 🤦♂️ 5 pairs = front left tweeters/ front right tweeter/ front left woofer/ front right woofer/ left rear woofer that’s it’s it what about the rear right woofer? 🤦♂️
Soooo 1/0 ?
So rarely do you get use a word like gerth in a sentence lol
Kill bill vol2 reference
Way too thick for a lot of vehicles.
And "only" $6 a foot! Are you kidding me? Ferrules are sold by the hundred for a couple of dollars. Same with braided loom. Ridiculous price.
I'm guessing this is a sponsored product or free product.
Not needed, and it’s overpriced, the 18 gauge I get from left over wire from work is more than adequate for me.
