According to Microsoft's documentation: "Internet access is required for the following situations with Office 2024: Internet access is required to look up device pre-entitlements in case your device came bundled with a copy of Office. Internet access is required to redeem and associate a copy of Office with your Microsoft account or your device ID. Internet access is required to activate apps, like Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Regular internet access is required to keep your apps up to date and to benefit from automatic updates and security patches. Periodic internet is required to keep your apps activated. Because Office 2024 does require the internet in the above situations, it is not an appropriate solution for use in fully disconnected scenarios. If you require a totally disconnected solution, consider using Office LTSC 2024." -- Microsoft "If you do not connect to the Internet periodically, your applications will go into reduced functionality mode, which means that you can view or print your documents, but cannot edit the documents or create new ones. To reactivate your Office applications, simply reconnect to the Internet." -- Microsoft
