We're a DIY family building our "forever homestead" from 15 acres of raw undeveloped land in Tennessee. All of our content is family friendly and safe for everyone to enjoy.
In today's video I install the electrical to help convert a storage shed into an off grid battery powered home office for my brother's gas business. The backbone of this project is the BLUETTI AC300 with two B300 batteries and Power Transfer Switch. Let's go!

You gotta love a nice clean installation. Cow outside at 13:00 , take care.
It was nice to see the space finished without having to do the work, too! :) And you've got a great eye for the cow! This building is next to one of the several pastures.
@@GreenAcreHomestead An office with a view! Perfect. You guys are making me want to build a shed.

So that’s what sam looks like without a beard
😂
Well that’s nice family helping family👍
This is 100% what I want to do, to my shed when I get it. I’ve got my bluetti
I am glad you’re giving back❤
Gooooood evening, Sam & Brother.
This was very informative Sam. We are starting new kitchen In February and you showed me which can lights to use. The mobile home has only one light and I’m going to put6 or 7 in kitchen and 3 in pantry. We are enlarging pantry and kitchen is 21’ galley style kitchen by 11’7” wide. Being an old retired cabinet and furniture maker, I’m building the cabinets. Great as always and your brother couldn’t keep the smile off his face. He’s one happy man
You do good work buddy. Just subscribed to The Juice Box.
Great job! Thanks Sam!
When you get this building done are you going to put siding on your home? You talked about that when you first moved there. You are so talented are you going to build a house some day? Thanks we love watching.
Great job on RUclips videos 😎👍
Thank you! 😀
@@GreenAcreHomestead your welcome
So nice you two can help each other on projects. 👍❣️
Y'all work good together! Don't you have another brother who has a tractor and a younger brother...how many of y'all brothers are there!? Y'all have an entire construction team!!🙆
Absolutely a beautiful electrical installation
Thank you kindly
It's Great to See Your Brother Again & TO See Brother Helping Brother.. This Video made Quick Work of ALL of the Work!! MERRY CHRISTMAS AND God Bless YOU ALL. Loved the Music 🎶 you Used.. Tell Angela & Boys I Missed them All!!
Love the music! Nice video. Fun to see brothers helping each other
Thanks so much
Olá Sam e Angela 💗👏 e crianças
You both have good "video presence".
What amazing job Sam
What an amazing job you have both done , well done .
Nice job, Sam. I would love a set up like that for my off grid home once I move.
It would do very well, too!
Sorry forgot to add it is codse in Cumberland and Wake county that is.
Super informative video, my head is swollen from all the smart stuff you shared 😳, good to meet your brother !
Looks nice. Off grid man cave I like it
Nice job guys👍
You can mount that box in between the wall studs for a flush look with the drywall (or whatever you plan to put on the walls inside)
Yes, but you loose any insulation R-value when flush mounting to an exterior wall. Mounting to a backer board was the best solution for this install and always my preferred method when possible.
Maybe consider putting some shade on one of them sides of the building so you have a place to pull in cool air. Pull out hot air on the sunny side.
Great job Sam. Love it❤
you can tell the company is proud of their product I sure can't afford a Bluetti. LOL
Sam, you are so talented and do an amazing job on your projects. Hi Sams brother! 😊
Thanks so much!
👍👍👍
That’s not an office, with a flat screen tv it’s a man cave ! 🤫 I won’t tell. It’s good to see brothers helping brothers.❤
He already has a recliner in there too! I told him if he gets a couch we'll have to start having regular "business meetings"! :)
@@GreenAcreHomestead Don’t forget a mini fridge. You guys might get thirsty watching the game. 🤣😁😆
Nice neat job.
Everything looks and performs great. I just wish I understood how it all work
Derksen buildings? 8' walls? I like what I see on the build quality on this video. Nice job. Looks great.
The building is actually from a local business who build and sell the sheds -- a family owned business. :)
Something I wish I put in my garage and in my storage build are ceiling fans. While you’re helping your brother you may want to see if he wants you to hang a ceiling fan for him too.
Also I should have put an entry door awning on mine. I have the same 9 light door and rainwater blowing in on it in less that 5 years rotted the bottom of the door and the door would have been covered by warranty but my painters did not paint all the edges of the door. Amazon had a $49 polycarbonate awning that may be a nice addition too. Cheaper than a storm door.
That’s a pretty nice Man Cave/office! What kind of business is your brother involved in?
It sure is! He has his own gas piping and service business. "Anything gas" is his motto. (propane, natural gas)
What about his mini split outlet?
Great video!👍🏻
Thanks!
Love your videos your should good brother help brother
Hi, nice work but question, doesn't he need metal plates going on the studs that wires are going through? I know for North Carolina that is code.
I couldn't tell for sure, but it looked like they used a sleeve that fits into the hole. Serves the same purpose and doesn't cause the bump in the drywall. Available at Home Depot in my area
Do you know where to find the extension cables for them halo lights. I can’t find a 3 prong that fits on those
🙋 You win twice 1 helping your brother

$$ from video 👍
A bluetti without a lot of solar panels is just a battery waiting to be fed
🙋♀️🌻
HOW SAM? is you so smart?
Lots of educational video watching on RUclips! :)
I am unable to comprehend how to wire up a box the way you did so I am sure your aptitude is superior if all you have to do is go to RUclips University >Props kind Sir
Sam if you eventually put some solar panels up to be the "off grid" side of the system can you use the generator as the "grid" leg or does it have to be AC from the road
If a generator is feeding power to the main load center (breaker box) to act like incoming grid power, then the transfer box will operate just as shown in this video. :) You can easily switch from off grid to generator.
You two sound alike
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
@ 12:31 Hope that your not mixing 14/2 (white) and 12/2 (Yellow) Romex and connecting them both to 20 amp breakers. The other thing I don't like is the sneaky imbedded commercial @ 10:51 Which I turned the volume all the way down!
Sam did you insulate between roof rafters if so did you use any spacing between roof and insulation?
I (happily) didn't insulate anything in this building! :) He hired contractors for that and the drywall install/finish work. I doubt they installed rafter vents as the roof of the shed is not vented, but that's an assumption.
Any breakdown on the costs? Not down to the penny, but a basic overview. Obviously, there is no labor costs, right?
No labor costs between family. :) All of the electrical components including lights, outlets, and trimmings cost right at $800 at the local hardware store. The BLUETTI unit and Home Integration Kit (transfer switch) are not included in that figure.
nice, how old u must be wear ur hat normall lol see 85 yr old looks good for u, congrats on new office ,
You did insulate the walls did you not
💕💕🎶🎶
comment
Why did you put 200 box on the outside of wall? I😮t would have been better in wall so you can pit up drywall.
Several reasons: allows the wall to be fully insulated, easier to connect the transfer switch box conduit, easier to add in items in the future, allows the conduit to run straight down through floor without hitting the floor joists.
Are you and your brother twins? You sure look like it
Arugh I kind of understood what you 2 were doing going to quit watching diy building video
10:48 The real reason for making this video. His brother gets a free system worth thousands, and they get to milk the ad rev. Must be nice to never have to do anything and just film yourselves getting stuff. On top of all of that, then they earn money by refering us to buy the same crap. LOL, not me, you don't even get ad rev from me :)
Just so you know, your ad revenue would equate to about half a penny, so you can keep the change! :-D
