You are right on the money. For me, what I'm paying for is the expertise that someone like you bring. I can do many things myself, but when I call a pro, I'm hoping to get someone who will evaluate the entire problem and make recommendations.
I'm from the UK and I don't agree with your comment. If you think its bad in the UK then its even worse in the states where everything has a price and just as bad if not more so that the UK. In both countries finding a conscientious contractor is the key. There are contractors out there who value their reputation and work to it accordingly but they may not be the cheapest as that additional 20 minute has to be paid for somehow. The key is to question the contractor on what they are going to do before you give them the job.

I agree 100,.%. I do automotive diagnostic. I check the whole system and discuss this with the customer before I start that similar to a flat tire it may have more than one issue causing it to go flat ie a nail...bad valve stem...rim leak due to corrosion ect. We don't know what we don't know. I keep them informed as I go sometimes I give a high worst case estimate to ensure a proper repair...only billing them for what was needed .They appreciate when im under estimate.Integrity matters. In the videos I've seen you always have Integrity. Keep to your values. God bless.
Instead of electrical tape to secure the wire, you should give self fusion silicone tape a try. After it is stuck to itself for a couple of minutes, it will never let go. It doesn't have any adhesive to degrade over time like regular electrical tape does.
Sir, I just want to compliment you on your business ethics and high level of customer service. It is people like you and the people on your team that will make or break a company's reputation. Thank you sir. I wish more people/businesses would follow ya'lls example. 100% a fan Your channel is my ASMR lol
It’s got blow by that’s why it has crankcase pressure coming out of the dipstick tube. It’s not a valve seat because if it had a bad valve seat it would run rough. I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s hard to start when it’s cold and doesn’t make the power it should. I was just typing when you said it’s an iron duke, it wouldn’t cost much at all to rebuild it. Pop that motor off and any machine shop can have it done pretty quickly parts are everywhere. 4 new oversized pistons, rebuild the rods, polish the crankshaft, cam - crank - rod bearings, oil pump, gasket kit, valve job, a little machine work l, ultrasonic clean the carb, new points and that thing is running for another 50 years. Anyways I’m rambling now haha! I own an auto repair shop in upstate New York and I go the extra mile with customers too. Many times customers say they need whatever work done like say they told me to replace the transmission and they already had 2 shops tell them that but I check it over and nope they needed a new solenoid pack. I work on a lot of European vehicles l, I’ve worked for European specialty shops before opening my shop in 2019. Pretty regularly cars would come in that were previously at a few shops where each shop replaced a few parts but still not running correctly. For example a customer brought in a Volkswagen Jetta at the last shop I worked for before opening my own shop. My boss told me diagnose the engine light and it also doesn’t have the power it should. I pull it in as my boss and customer walk up because the guy wanted to tell me everything that had happened which he did plus showed me the truck was packed with his old arts, then he said how he hasn’t driven the car in 6 months because it’s been at 3 shops and he’s gonna give us a month to figure it out and if we don’t he’s gonna trade ir in. I check it over for about 15 minutes where I find a bunch of codes related to fuel trim (basically that means the engine is running rich rich or lean. The mass airflow sensor wasn’t ready anything and I noticed it was installed backwards so switching that back around I noticed it was an aftermarket sensor from auto zone so I got the sensor installed correctly and still not working so I look in the truck and find the original sensor I put that back in and still nothing. I use the scope on my scanner to check the wiring which I found and open circuit fixed that then bam it’s fixed. When I put the original sensor back in I put all the original sensors back in. I pull the car in a parking spot and the customer was just getting into his wife’s car to Webb he seen me and said “giving up already”? I said nope it’s all fixed ready to go and He didn’t believe me at first. He asked me what about all the other codes because all I did was fix one thing. So I explained to him why the other codes set. He then said the reason why he didn’t come to us first is because we are expensive. I said our prices are higher because we are an actual European shop set up to work on euro cars it much more expensive, way more tools and equipment needed and euro auto technicians make more money because of the higher skills and the difficulty finding techs but you are wrong however! You said you spent 2500 bucks between the 3 shops and all we are charging is a few hundred bucks. He said well my car still needed all the stuff the other shops replaced to which I said nope I already put all ur old parts back on and it’s fixed so my point being yes our prices are higher but the quality of work is also higher so ur not paying for us to guess what’s what’s wrong
I really like to see that integrity, the consciences you bring to your work. Knowing one has done good work and that one can hang their hat on their day.
I have a suggestion, can you do a more detailed picture and explanation of the packer, showing how it inflates out of the well, also that you never fully expand it out of the well as it might pop out of the well. Love your videos, very interesting, informative and entertaining.
For the motor rebuild, you might want to also oversize the radiator while you are at it since you said it overheated. Or maybe an heat exchanger with the water you pump?

What a great work ethic !!! You are correct on satisfying the customer and then yourself !!! I wish you were close to Central Texas !!! I would rebuild that engine for a frac on my well !!! GREAT JOB !!!
In 1985-87 I worked in the oilfield here in Oklahoma on a frack crew, I find your video to be interesting, water wells are very different than oil wells Thank you for this video & I’m glad that I’m subscribed
I agree with what you're saying! I do the same, and it is the only way to understand the customer's problem and actually solve it. (And it also gets me volunteered to clean up after other techs...)
So many questions. I came across your channel by accident and now has me wanting to ask questions. I will have to look through the video list but we have a property/cabin in a high mountain park in CO. This property has an older well and a new septic system. When I purchased the place the well hadn't been used in several years. I had to replace the pressure tank and all the plumbing to the tank (tank had a hole in it, new pressure switch, check valve, etc.) Well worked ok but I let someone stay there for a week and didn't show them to shut power to well when they left. Have an outside freeze proof spigot outside and when this person left he left a hose on the spigot and spigot open. Hose sprayer was on the hose so the hose could just build pressure. He left and 2 days later we went to the cabin and the water was running everywhere because the cheap hose ruptured. Looking at my game camera I found that the hose ruptured shortly after they left so well pump was running for 2 full days. After this happened I had to replace the check valve on line to pressure tank because something caused it to fail so it would allow water to flow back toward pump when pump shut off. Ever since this time I have been getting air in my whole system. Not sure if my well is drying up or something else is wrong. I haven't called a company yet to come and check the whole system. Prior to this issue with the burst hose the well was working just fine with no air in the system.
I really like your videos. You give an explanation about everything you do and you have great work ethics. You are an honorable person and that is much appreciated. Keep up the great work.
Nice work mate. I agree with your ethos, the customer wants the well to work but it’s not just the well. It’s the full system of well, pump, valves, switches, pipework and filter etc. they all must work together so a top to bottom diagnosis of the system is required to determine the fault. All the best.
Do you guys ever have problems with bits breaking or rods getting stuck from the hole collapsing while drilling? I know that has been an issue in my area with it being mostly sand and limestone.
Hi my name is Robert. Have you thought about using a vac truck for your well franking? I have operated a vac truck for 10 years. I was in environmental cleanup, and have used a vac truck for a lot of different operations. I have worked jobs where to clean tanks, above and below ground. I both blow in and suck out water. In 10 minutes I could blow 2600 gallons of water thru a 4 inch pipe. Then pull it back out in about the same amount of time. After flushing back and forth 2 or 3 times a well won't soon silt up.
You should try a heavier oil like 20W-50 and/or Engine Restore in the silver can. That's the one thing I've seen work agaisnt bad oil consumption and blow by. I've heard of iron dukes powering cars, trucks, boats, and mail delivery vehicles. Hydraulic fracturing rigs is a new one to me. Maybe next someone will put one in an airplane. Did you mention what year the engine is?
We have the same situation as this Video, 340Ft well, Pump down to 320, we run out of water if we go overboard, i mean two showers an a load of laundry... I wish you were in our area I would love to get a quote on fracking our well to get these kind of results... Id say our refil rate is maybe .5 -1gpm... not ideal. Were in the North Carolina Area if you are near by.
With watching your videos on the Hydro Fracking that your little 4 cylinder engine does work really hard and it might be a good idea once you pull the trigger to replace it, go with either a Ford 300 6 cylinder or the Chrysler 225 Slant 6 that comes out of an old 60's truck. The slant I have a lot of experience with and they are tough engines and can take a beating. Get a good sized radiator on them and they won't overheat either. You could push them all day and they won't care, as long as you feed it fuel they keep putting out the power.
Yes I agree, the one time I had to have a plumber come out to work on my pressure switch, when he was waiting for pressure to build or after words he checked the whole system and fixed a few other items that needed attention.
A good example of an excellent service and no brainer. 20 minutes to do the job properly and prevent the need for a second visit. Unfortunately not contractor thinks that way in the belief that a second visit will generate more profit. Unfortunately for the customer their workload means they wont get back for several weeks so the customer has no alternative but to carry on without the thing working and wait or find a contractor who can
I know you mentioned 350 swapping the rig, but a 4.8 or 5.3 ls would be really cool and have power for days and are pretty cheap to build and work on. Just passing my money wasting thoughts onto you!
Just wondering what kind of hydraulic oil you guys use for inflating the fracking tool? I ask this question due to the fact what happens if you have a rupture of the rubber bellow you will contaminate the well if it does?
Good business acumen, since you are there...... There is an A/C guy on ytube, his motto is look at the big picture, fix it right, fix it once. The engine is pushing blowby, if it has gotten hot it has taken the tension out of the rings and they are no longer sealing, hence crankcase pressure pushing oil out at the highest spot on the engine. A side effect of worn rings is oil in the combustion chamber/process causes detonation, IE preignition under load, and that will eventually beat the bearings out of it. A painted radiator may look good at one time, but the paint inhibits the heat transfer. If the cooling/airflow is marginal to start with, like no fan shroud, excess paint, worn out impeller on the water pump it is not going to remove the heat and the engine will consistently run hot under load.
@H2o Mechanic Given the choice between someone who does it right the first time and someone who just does as their told. I'll pick tye person who does it right the first time. Even if that means I get charged 20-30% more. While I don't live anywhere near you, I'd hire you if I had a private well.
with all that sand on the packer and the sediment in the filter bowl is there a problem with IDK maybe the caseing is leaking (I don't even know if that is a thing???) just curious :)
I’m in Quebec, we have lots of water , my well was made in the mid 1800’S went a bit dry in 2019 yes 175 years ago , it’s 30 feets deep and it’s a 1 inch pipe , I called a friend that has mini excavator, we find the well then pulled out the pipe and we put a 1 /1/2 stainless steel pipe, 50 feets deep , removed the lead pipe from the well to the house , yes made of lead , not too healthy , filled the excavation with very compacted sand , then using my pump I pumped a bit over 5000 liters to create the new well , the well is about 50 feet from the house , after pumping about 2000 liters into the well it was visible the earth was lifting of about 6 inches on. 60 feets diameter, by the time I went to a friend refilling my 1000 liters taut the earth has lowered , it was slowly raised as I was pumping water into the well , after the fifth taut I let it set for 2 days , then pumping water from the well , it was a bit sandy and Claudy at first but after about 30 minutes of pumping the water was very clear and no debris.
You said the duct tape can come off and get sucked around the pump, Is it possible that this could have happened this time and simulated the well running dry. I really don't know, just asking.
Honestly you should keep that iron duke and rebuild it. Parts for them are easily available since the post office's fleet of LLVs use them. A V8 would just be overkill, take up more room, and require a much larger cooling system. Where the cast iron 4 cylinder that is the Iron duke both head and block are much more tolerant of being ran hot.
I have a brand new gm iron duke crate motor sitting in my shop. I bought it 10 years ago from a chevy dealer that went out of business, I think I paid $200 for it.
I was asked to look at a well . 20 years old , never had bad experiences with it . I found the pressure tank was full of water , the pressure valve was blocked , springs in the valve were loose and galvanized pipe in the well . Told the woman this is what I found and they need to be addressed . Depth of well I found was 130’ . The well house is an underground block of concrete and full of leaves and was wet . Told he to contact a well company to do the repairs . She cussed me out because of the price the well co charged her . All new everything and good flowing water even the pipe from the well to the house

What a great work ethic !!! You are correct on satisfying the customer and then yourself !!! I wish you were close to Central Texas !!! I would rebuild that engine for a frac on my well !!! GREAT JOB !!!
In 1985-87 I worked in the oilfield here in Oklahoma on a frack crew, I find your video to be interesting, water wells are very different than oil wells
Thank you for this video & I’m glad that I’m subscribed
I agree with what you're saying! I do the same, and it is the only way to understand the customer's problem and actually solve it. (And it also gets me volunteered to clean up after other techs...)
Yes
Is there any way to vacuum the sediment out of the bottom of a deep water well?
Totally agree, you are an outstanding guy
Agreed 1000%
Nice work mate. I agree with your ethos, the customer wants the well to work but it’s not just the well. It’s the full system of well, pump, valves, switches, pipework and filter etc. they all must work together so a top to bottom diagnosis of the system is required to determine the fault. All the best.
How often should you change the filter?
You and @HVACRvideo have the same ethics
Good return
How long does the water horse into the well actually cause that’s right you thank you
Do you guys ever have problems with bits breaking or rods getting stuck from the hole collapsing while drilling? I know that has been an issue in my area with it being mostly sand and limestone.
Love your posts! I have learned so much!
I’m here for the 350 swapped frack rig let’s gooo
If you said that was a Pontiac Sunfire engine. Pontiac builds excitement!
Nice job.
Unfortunately for the customer their workload means they wont get back for several weeks so the customer has no alternative but to carry on without the thing working and wait or find a contractor who can
I agree with you
Nice job.
I know you mentioned 350 swapping the rig, but a 4.8 or 5.3 ls would be really cool and have power for days and are pretty cheap to build and work on. Just passing my money wasting thoughts onto you!
On the Filters... I think it is Good to Have 2 Filters Run in Parallel to have less Pressure Drop.
Can a 185 feet deep well be fracked in lubbock tx with wells in every 1 acer lots?
How much bleach should I put in a 450ft well I put a new pump in now I have a smell from my water. Just wondering
Disregard the last message how long and what does the Fracar actually do in well thank you
Great video!
yes be up front and honest
I agree
I like your work ethic. 👍😎
or rings gone puttin pressure in crankcase?
Awesome. Thanks
Just wondering what kind of hydraulic oil you guys use for inflating the fracking tool? I ask this question due to the fact what happens if you have a rupture of the rubber bellow you will contaminate the well if it does?
He says it is some kind of food grade peanut oil.
ho to get iron out ?
Where's the water source come from a polluted river next to them?
your pcv vent on top of rocker cover is pluged!
No, because it would be stuck in the pumps intake
@@h2omechanic good to know, thanks.
That filter was DOA. Great job. Why don't they make the filter case clear? Same as Semi's fuel filter cases are clear. Easy check.
I had an engine that blew oil out the dipstick. Fixed it by cleaning some carbon deposits out of the carburetor
All new everything and good flowing water even the pipe from the well to the house
i didnt think you were supposed to lay a vertical tank on its side?
our pressure tank is 50 gallon at the well
What’s the price on fracking a well 90 foot to water.
