that or eating, it's the worst. It's literally making money off another person's work without paying them.

The Fine Bros at the time acted real scummy, but when you think about it their reactions were very well made. Different audiences for different topics, context on the video, questions at the end, links to the original and only showing a part of the original video.
When compared to these guys here, they were heroes 😂

Another example of GOOD reaction content is JonTron. Truly makes the content he reacts to much more entertaining.

Yeah, he actually has skits (my favorite being the whole "William Friedkin teams up with fictional characters to fight a possessed woman" skit from 'The Devil and Father Amorth' video he made) , editing (like when he edits himself into the Cane Fu video as both the bongo guy in the background and himself in the elderly products video he made), and actual jokes and commentary for what he's reacting to.
Just for those reasons alone he's miles ahead of other reaction channels.

I still can't wrap my head around the idea that so many people watch the reactions INSTEAD of the original, because I like reaction videos, and that goes entirely against the whole reason I watch them. They're fun because I like seeing other people's experience with something I've already seen and enjoyed. I'm literally here right now because someone I follow reacted to it and I thought "I should go watch the original and come back if I'm still interested".
Yeah, I agree. I'll always watch a video to get my own thoughts on it *before* watching a reaction to it. But I don't really watch much reaction content at all. I'd have to already like the youtuber doing it, or just really want to see people react to a certain video I already like because seeing people get hyped about something you also love is cool.
I don't get the appeal of watching a bunch of random, uncredited tiktoks with someone in the corner just ocassionally pointing out whats on screen and giving inauthentic reactions, like sssniperwolf does. That sucks.
I'm late to this whole thing but reaction content (for the most part some RUclipsrs like oompaville do it right by adding genuinely funny or entertaining bits on top of funny edits) is the laziest most scummy kind of content out there and I feel like no one really cares about that? I mean watch a show/movie with your viewers I doubt anyone cares about that million/billion dollar company losing out on a few grand but most of these guys are just hijacking views that would otherwise go to actual content and not this lazy nonsense that every RUclipsr does nowadays. Even RUclipsrs I still watch do it and it's genuinely kinda disgusting to watch RUclipsrs go "oh ha funny" then move on without adding anything whatsoever to what they're watching. I don't think it's helped by the fact that these same RUclipsrs seem to think they're gods and that their opinion really matters when all they do is laugh, say some buzz words then move on. Best example of this I can think of rn is jacksepticeye saying mr.beast ruined RUclips when bros videos are almost all reaction content now and when he does make actual videos it's full of so much self righteous bullshit that you don't even wanna watch his let's play. The fuckin ego it takes to say someone who puts so much effort into their videos ruined RUclips when all he does is look at his screen and laugh is actually fuckin braindead. And I'm someone who used to love jack but my god is he up his own ass the last couple years. I don't even really like Mr. Beast and I realize he also does reaction content but at least the man actually still makes content and isn't just a reaction andy that makes occasional content. (This kinda turned into a dig on Jack that wasn't my intention but my point still stands. There is so many RUclipsrs/streamers that do mainly reaction content that have such big egos and act like they do anything of value when all they do is steal other people's content and it's sad as fuck to see.)

That’s what I do. “I like/hate this thing, let’s see some reactions.” And 90+% are someone drooling at the screen. Then I remember why I don’t watch outside my subscriptions and video circle (things I watch but don’t sub to), because most stuff sucks. 😒

Doctor Hope's Sick Notes reacting to Cells At Work is, hands down, the BEST react content I've ever seen, by a country mile. It isn't just reactions, he'll spot something interesting, pause, rush off to grab paper and markers, and just do a really cool microbiology mini-lesson. He's engaging with the content more fully than his audience otherwise might, and taking the opportunity to dramatically expand upon what the original content was showing. It's breathtakingly great stuff.
Just by skimming through his videos I couldn't call him a "reactor".
Pausing videos to drop actual knowledge about something he's an expert at and even editing his videos makes him better then the average reactor.
You might enjoy "The Charismatic Voice", quite similar but with music. Overall, my bar is quite a bit lower to accepting reaction content as "good" (as long as the people or person seem genuine interested, are actively commenting and discussing), but I can't deny that I do appreciate and respect people more for pausing and even skipping parts of the original content, where it makes sense. Where regular "good" reactions are toeing the line of transformation through entertainment, live commentary and post discussions, the pausing and skipping leaves no room for doubt about the transformative nature, and creates a completely new experience.
TRUE! I love his content bc I learn a lot more than I get from watching Cells at Work alone. When the series was going on, I usually watched the episode first, then watch his reactions so he could point out stuff that I didn’t catch and learn more along the way.

the most mind blowing thing is why do people like this style of content.
I enjoy some react videos like there are a few historian reacts that they will talk about the historical accuracy about a movie or something. this is at the very least adding info to the content, giving a little backstory.
these react youtubers you highlighted just seem like total wastes of time to watch. blows my mind that they can be this successful.
To be fair, some types of reaction videos can be interesting, specifically when an expert in an area reacts to content. For example a musician reacting and analyzing songs, a lawyer reacting to bad legal takes in popular media, etc.
Yeah because you are learning something rather than catching that brain rot you could also just watch a video on the actual topic you are interested in and get the same if not a better experience

I remember being nearly thrown out of a RUclips & Twitch panel at a convention here in San Antonio because I brought up that reaction videos are some of the lowest forms of content creation on RUclips. I was told with a lot of aggression that we shouldn’t be able to claim our own content as our property and that Twitch doesn’t value copyright and that it’s what’s holding RUclips back.

It's not really surprising unfortunately. If you read manga/manwha. If you watch anime online using less than legal methods. You'll know aggregates are very powerful, in that the consumer just wants to find all the content they're consuming in one easy place. Problem is no one can provide all said content in one place without thieving the work of many.
There's always Asmongold. He's a very big twitch streamer, but in his reactions he always debates or expands ideas of the videos he watches. And spams links to that video and demands his vievers to subscribe if he liked the video

We are social creatures. The reason people watch reactors is the same reason we send funny videos/pictures to friends and family. To see and/or hear their reactions.
Right now, I'm watching a youtube channel named Aliciaxlife because I want to see how she reacts to the one piece anime and to rick and morty. I continue to watch because I love her reactions.

I don’t watch reaction content, I’d rather just watch the original video. But I don’t mind them making it as long as they credit the creator properly in the video and somehow make their own video unique and not just a plain re-upload of the creator’s video. It’s always best if they ask the creator first. What’s worse is people remaking other peoples’ reels and they transform it by rewriting the script slightly (or the mainstream media copies it and makes it a news or infotainment story without credit). It’s mainly because many of these people don’t do reaction stuff as their main content. The thing that separates good reactors from bad is their commentary. Blind wave is probably the best example since you have multiple guys reacting and they all have interesting or funny commentary about the stuff they watch.
I think another contender for good reaction content is music reactions, especially in the metal music scene.
It’s no heyday H3H3, but they do give commentary and review the tracks either during or after it’s played. They even credit the original artist(s).
Good examples are Metal Birb, Knox Hill, Rykerroad, Nik Nocturnal, etc etc.
It's insane to me that sniperwolf tried the sexism card, when one of the things that launched her career was the fact that she had a beautiful body, which she had zero problems flaunting in her cosplay videos. She clearly doesn't have problems with her personality on the internet including her gender. So that makes it an insane defense, honestly.
Bro I remember in like 2018 one of her most popular vids was because the thumbnail looked like she was masturbating off camera, and another being that a pornstar looked just like her. She took advantage of her down bad fanbase and is now tryna complain about it goin the other way

The Daily Doug is an amazing react channel, he’s a music composer and he reacts to subscriber sent music and explains with theory in some detail. It’s cool watching him Analyze so swiftly. There’s also a guitar teacher who does something like this but I forgot his name.

This is the difference between "I know, I'll use youtube as a platform to share my content ideas" VS "I want to be a youtube star".

For streamers afraid of dead air when they go offscreen:
1. Fanart showcase. Artists would send art and you’d play them in a sideshow (with credit).
2. Original videos of the creator themselves. Could be anything. They could just have some videos of them fortnite dancing for twenty minutes.
3. Baby sensory videos.
If they are afraid of dead air then maybe they aren't so entertaining to watch after all?
If people are there to watch the streamer and not the video that is being reacted to then they would just wait for the streamer to come back.

I don't think they are really afraid of 3 minutes dead air, this is just an excuse that gives them some deniability . Making reaction content is easy money for them in general, that's why they are doing it, but they can't say it.

Asmond not only will make a 50+ minute reaction to a 13 minute video, but he actually goes out of his way to let the part of the video play where the person he’s reaching to is advertising their other content/ads, effectively using his platform to boost said ads for them.

I’m glad you highlighted better ways of reacting to content! I discovered your channel specifically because of Charlie talking about it. I love the way he reacts to things, for the most part, because he gives enough detail for me to know what he’s talking about but still gives me a reason to watch the original.
Also your channel is the only reason I know anything about Halo. I’m not really into shooters but you’re attention to detail and passion for stuff makes it really easy to get interested in stuff that wouldn’t normally catch my eye. Please try to hold onto your passion Act Man
I liked that too. Even if you don't like reactors as a whole, there are layers as to what goes from lazy but informative to actively spitting in the face of fair use. If we can't distinguish that nuance we could open the door against fair use all over again.

I'm not defending xqc by any means and the truth is... he just don't give a fuck. He doesn't upload his videos, it's all by some other people, he's streaming for 12 hours a day and that's it. He makes huge money and simply dont give a fuck, he keep saying that he's that big that his 'reacts' give the video enough attention and without him there would be way less views on that video. He gives completly zero fucks about editing videos that's why it's almost exclusively straight reupload of his stream. Also some personal problems, constantly moving from house to house and you should see the bigger manchild picture or just persona he creates.

People also need to stop commenting or chatting "STOP PAUSING THE VIDEO" because that's when a creator is able to add their transformative content. It's always baffled me that there are viewers out there wanting their favorite creator to engage in literal plagiarism. I love when streamers or YT creators call their audiences out for this type of behavior because if they want so badly to see the uninterrupted original content, they can do their part in the reaction cycle by correctly using the reupload as a medium for expanding the original video's audience and GO SEE THE ORIGINAL CHANNEL THAT POSTED IT

Unless they run like 2-3 for channels all together(example like gameplay, reaction, or whatever). There's some variety but just reactions to me aren't doing much at all. There's definitely a handful that actually do good reactions, people who are well versed into the topic, like creators who do history.
It baffles me too, especially with music reactions. I don't understand the logic at all.
Because the viewer don't actually care about the reactor's input. The are all just social parasites using the streamer and their stream as a front to pretend they are doing something with (or just having) friends. It is a toxic relationship for both the viewers and the streamer.
You go after low hanging fruit when the coast is clear and its politically safe to do so. Calling out xQC and sniperwolf after other folks already did and the public opinion is favorable. Cheap stuff

The issue with xqc’s handling of all this is that he has taken such an unfathomable amount of wealth from basically doing nothing that he gets payed to not care any less. His sense of empathy for another human being has been replaced with money from a site funded by gambling. And it’s not just this sole case scenario, he’s been like this for a good bit now.

I've been entrenched in a backlog of reaction drama for the past couple months. I can't properly convey the disgust that overcomes me everytime this topic is argued. All I know Is the reaction Era of RUclips and Twitch cannot die fast enough.

This is why whenever i watch history videos, i watch a historian react to them such as with Vlogging Through History. This will typically provide more information, different perspectives and insights into topics and a better education. THAT is the type of reaction content i love
I'm always looking out for "Person from X profession/hobby reacts to Content that includes elements of X". Some of my favorites are professional parkourists reacting to parkour style games, always explaining the actual physics and techniques behind irl moves. It's awesome when they praise a game for its accuracy or point out a setting or move as something that wouldn't be possible, but _would_ be pretty damn cool if it was.

I remember watching meme complication channels for years and their discription ALWAYS credited the video if possible, hell they even cut out or censored the part of a clip if the creator doesn't want their video in the complications. A MEME CHANNEL DOES A BETTER JOB CREDITING THAN THESE PEOPLE.
I love how Ethan completely eviscerated Xqc in their debate. Xqc having his editors edit down Ethan reactions to only the dead air and thinking that was a sound response was the scummiest, most dishonest shit I've seen on here. I'm glad Ethan immediately caught him on that and tossed his ass to the curb over it. That's where i think he lost the debate, and the decline into personal attacks was just the icing on top.

It's cool to see that Asmongold will take feedback about how his stuff impacts other people and improve. With how much he roasts AAA game companies for refusing to do this, it would make sense that he cares about that. I came to check out some of your videos from one of his reactions a while back and I been watching videos ever since because the algorithm throws them on my front page.
Asmon puts a ton of effort in adding his own commentary too. He will take a 15 min video and literally add an hour of commentary to it. Meanwhile Xqc will sit there in silence the whole video and even leave the room at times.

To be fair, ive been in an inception loop of reaction videos the last month, of you, asmonldgold, jacksfilm, and a couple others. This is peak RUclips. Completely just imploding on itself. Plus, we need to note that there is a difference between reacting, commentary, and analysis. Reaction is the lowest tier of the three.
So we should just all upload our own personal analysis of this video then?
Reaction and commentary are almost exactly the same, most twitch streamers don't even offer anything of value. Commentary channels talking about any topic that's trending just to get that attention even though they have absolutely zero knowledge or insight about the topic and then misinforming their massive audiences.
