Love the online dojo idea. Already have ranking in a few styles but would certainly be interested in learning more with self-defense, weapons, etc. Weapons certs would be interesting (if possible). Heck even 30-min "classes" where we work along with would be useful.
This is the place brotha
Hi Matt, just got back from taking a buddy to a car shop to drop off his car for repairs. Really sorry i missed class. As you know, i have been working on wrist, grip strength and skin conditioning by working on the heavy bag without gloves and resuming knuckle pushups as i used to train years ago.. This is how i have always trained, to condition and prepare for street combat, being a person will probably not be using hand protection in an altercation. It is taking a lot of work, but the Online Dojo is helping to provide the "spark", allowing me to rebuild my confidence. Thanks Matt. Doug
Oh! I forgot to mention that training on the heavy bag, without hand protection, may not be for everyone. Perhaps you may wish address it. God bless. Doug.
I also train on a heavy bag without any kind of gloves. I think fourteen or sixteen ounce gloves are good for building shoulder strength and endurance, but I can't find my gloves right now. My bag is in an unheated shop, so I'll have to wear long sleeves while I train for the next six months. This summer, I was wearing short-sleeved shirts, and I had a bit of bag rash on my elbows from training elbow strikes. I can't tell for certain whether my knuckles really have that much more toughness, but at least I'm used to hitting them against something rough without protection.
Morning. Master. Matt
Thanks!
Thanks Doug!!
Thanks Matt!
Thank you Mark!
Thank you very much sir. GOD bless you.
Excellent well performed very helpful

Matt, the principles that you describe remind me of a golf swing. It is a specific "feel" that you get when you fire your core muscles first, followed by peripheral muscles in a coordinated sequence, then confirmed by the flight of the ball.
I hope things go well for you!
Kip
Amen. You are right Kip. Thanks for another thoughtful comment!
