Thanks Matt! Just catching up on the last few vids. I've never seen anything like this with the focus on how to improve speed and agility, and it is fantastic. I've got to get some bands coming right away so I can add this to my training. This is a facet that gets overlooked. One word of extreme caution, especially for anyone who has had low back disc issues: Be really careful on those twists where you have the line of resistance directly off to the side, and twist sharply to the side. Make sure you are really warmed up, go really light on resistance, and don't be in a rush to up your resistance. This puts a shearing motion on your discs and if you are cold (or early in the day when your discs are actually more full of liquid), you can injure/tear/rupture discs. I have done core exercises with a similar motion, but instead of twisting, I stand perpindicular to the reistance, start with the handles against my chest, and push them out to arm's length, while your core remains static. The "lever" effect as you push the resistance out from yur body (tension still coming from your side) makes your core work to resist twisting. So this version is actually static and will strengthen your core. Unfortunately it will probably not improve your explosive twisting force, but if you wreck a disc, you won't be doing much of anything for a long time. One of those "perks" of being older (and having torched up a disc yanking a garden hose sideways like that on a day where I wanted to wash the car in the am before my shade disappeared. Think the hose got hung up and resistance went from manageable to impossible in half a second flat.) Again, great piece, Matt. My upcoming mission is to put more of this in my notebook, then group different pieces into individual workouts so that I cycle through regularly. These are getting plenty intense, so I can start subbing in these kinds of things for my routine cardio.
Thank you for your kind words and for the info about the disc caution. That is very helpful!
Thanks again Matt love the resistance bands...finally joined your virtual dojo...
I hope it grows to your expectations...
Thank you Daniel! Very much appreciated!
Motivation Personified!! You are amazing, Matt!!
Thank you Pete!
Hi Matt, i have had bands for years. Confiscated my four daughters collections when they were in high school. I am glad i made the purchases for them when i did. But didn't get any OD green. I have enough i could probably have a new set of tires made for my car. Will definitely be using them for sure. Stay safe. Doug.
Haha. That’s funny! Thanks for sharing Doug!
Tried this for the first time today, its quite the workout! Thank you Matt!!
Thanks for your feedback!
Great vid. Been using bands for awhile and they are versatile for a great workout. Caution, they occasionally break. Fortunately my furnace stopped my trajectory. I’m 65 and going to give it a try. Thanks for your time and passion.
Haha. Yes they do break! Thankfully not often.
Boy looking at that picture of your dojo brings back fond memories of my dojo in California back when I was training shorin Ryu it's just a mirror image of my class thank you
That is really cool Jack. Thank you for sharing!
