      The issue with your expectation is that you actually think that the referees view the game as they should be viewing it. The truth is they are not after fairness or anything like that. It was and always is weird and very hypocritical to see Simon criticising players for "cheating" and not respecting authority... It is this kind of thought process that has made the refs the way they are. A referee isn't in a position of authority... He is in a position of service! They are there to ensure the game is fair and also to prevent players from fighting and/or injuring each other. That is it. But people like Simon and the refs themselves believe otherwise. And as for players cheating... The refs don't cheat? Really? What would you call Mike Dean's declaration of brotherhood towards Taylor in the chelsea-tottenham match a few seasons ago? Or Taylor's entire europe league final performance in Roma-Sevilla... He definitely cheated that game and unless you live under a rock... Only the english and Spanish media claimed otherwise. It becomes funny when Taylor refs in the prem and one of the teams playing ends up robbed by him and the fans react... Yet in europe, because no english teams suffered, everyone shuts up and pretends Taylor was right. What is this besides authority to cheat?

    If a player gets frustrated, swings an arm, and catches opposing player's faces slightly, is that red? Yes. If a player gets frustrated, extends a leg high, and catches opposing player's knee slightly, is that red? Yes. The severity of damage is irrelevant.

    • @kennethdaly3224
      @kennethdaly3224 Месяц назад +1

      But surely the severity of damage is not irrelevant? For example, there is a big difference between catching someone high with your studs and making contact with your ankle, and that difference should be taken into consideration by the referee.
      I would consider Bruno's challenge to be petulant, but not violent conduct. However, if he had connected with his studs, then violent conduct might come into it and make it a red card.

    The biggest problem is that the actual referee does not check the VAR in the EPL. Just make the ref go and check the Screen on these critical decisions. Simple as that. Whether its a given or not, just check the Screen before issuing a RED card. Referees think they will spend a lot of time on the screen but that is not even close to the truth. They just want to get away with burying the evidence and say "We are sorry" in the end.

      It is sport. It has to be fair or it doesn't matter at all. The issue is not VAR, people have to get rid of that notion. The issue is that referees are not incorruptible, just like no other walk of life is incorruptible. They cheat. VAR works so little because they cheat. They use it selectively. They give different outcomes for the same event but for different teams. They even help each other by pretending that their decisions never need a review. What Mike Dean said on Simon Jordan's show is a thing that happens quite a lot. The reason we have only heard it from Dean is because he is the number one most stupid ref we've seen. But scum like Webb are the same. They always used to say how old trafford was "intimidating" to him therefore he ended up making mistakes in favour of united... How about switching refs for them then? If webb couldn't handle it. The FA never seems to do that no matter the refs performance because the FA actually want the ref to make those decisions and they are rarely mistakes.

    I think any outrage over a 'review of the review' fails to take into account just how often the VAR makes the wrong call. In theory, a review of the review seems nonsensical, but then you get ridiculous decisions like the Bruno red card and the VAR failing to do their job by intervening.

    I don't think it was red but I remember United fans in full support of the ref when Curtis Jones was sent off when he slipped and kicked a united player. Fans are happy to applaud injustice when it benefits them, then cry when it doesn't. If you don't call it out when you gain from it, don't froth when it's against you.

    The key point that no ones addressing is that Maddison's the biggest diver in the Premier League and THAT (diving) is the thing that truly needs addressing.
    Its remarkable that these 3 haven't noticed that Maddison dives in almost every game and yet they purport to be experts...
    Truth is if VAR was used to penalise divers then the refs would get a lot more decisions correct...

    It’s a shambles. The ref, the 4th official and the 3 muppets that are on VAR on the day say it’s a red within minutes. 5 officials !!. Less than 48 hours later it’s not a red which agrees with 99% of football fans. What a joke. Not saying united would have been any better 2nd half, but to come out after half time with 11 rather than 10 could have made a difference. They pick and choose how they want to influence a game now. It’s shocking!!

    • @JC-ko1bp
      @JC-ko1bp Месяц назад

      problem with that is... if 3 times you're done wrong in the game, you cant change them all.
      imagine saying you were wronged, we know you were wronged, we have the video right here proving it... but because youve used your "challenges" we cant do anything about it.
      if you have the technology you have to use it.
      the argument for me is... is it worth having or do you scrap it.
      its making the game less enjoyable to watch... however if we're getting every decision correct now id understand the argument... but we're not clearly. as shown here. cos that was never a red card.
      so is it worth having?
