  • In 1957 the 480th TFS was established as the 480th FBS equipped with F-100s. In May 1969 the 480th TFS converted to the F-4D and later that year moved to Phù Cát Airbase in South Vietnam. The squadron was the first to shoot down an enemy MiG-21 and had a total of 9 MiG victories. F-4D 66-7733 was delivered to the 366th TFW in 1969 and then the 480th. After Vietnam the 480th TFS was disbanded and 66-7733 moved from squadron to squadron before being sent to AMARC in 1989 and scrapped in September 1998.
    Seen here is that very aircraft in 1:72nd scale diecast by Hobby Master. It's a very nice model of a Vietnam War era aircraft used by the USAF with a ton of great detail.

    Such a mean but beautiful jet. I literally did a big exhale when you popped it out of the plastic lol. This one is definitely on my diecast bucket list🤘

      You will not regret getting it. I do enjoy a Phantom I didn't realise how much until I counted 18 Hobby Master ones in my pile 😂 plus I have some Corgi ones to unbox aswell. Popping out a lot of these aircraft can be scary,haha. You nearly feel like your about to break something sometimes. So look forward to a few more Phantom videos popping up, some with some really interesting paint schemes 😂. Thanks as always for dropping past to check out the video 😀👍

    Beautiful! One of my absolute favorite fighter jets. This is a serious bomb truck. The camo scheme is incredible. Thanks for sharing!

    Very Nice Phantom. By the way, it would be interesting to see the "Gemini Jets" F-4 overview

      Funny you mention Gemini...as I finished recording a Gemini Aces P-51 Mustang, and wow the build quality is fantastic. So I will definately look forward to anything made by Gemini if they are of the quality of the Mustang 😀

      @@heavymetaldiecast Gemini often uses old Witty Wings molds: F-14, F-15, F-16, F/A-18 and A-7. But the F-4M, A-1, Spitfire, Bf-109f and P-51B, I don't know who made it... P-51B is very similar in quality to Dragon Wings. But DW has a P-51D. And he's also amazing. I really wanted to touch the F-4M because I heard it was amazing.

      @@slizevicius I bought an F-15 Israeli one by Gemini, but it had some ordnance damaged. So I want to try and fix that before a video gets done. The Gemini aircraft seem to go for a lot of money here, I guess as they are no longer in business. I will keep an eye out for the F-4M version 😉

    Love your reviews! I was thinking about getting an F-4 Phantom II but was conflicted on either getting this model, or the F-4E Phantom II Gunsmoke. What's your opinion on this? Thanks!

      Thank you so much for the positive comment mate. In regards to choosing its hard, it's like picking your favourite child,haha. But for me I've always really liked the Vietnam era camo. It comes down to your personal preference. I actually do have the "Gunsmoke" one in my pile and will eventually get to reviewing it,haha. But for me HM Phantoms are like Pokemon's....Got to catch them all, well until I found out Hobby Master has released about 160 different ones 🤣. Thanks again for watching and commenting 😀👍

      @@heavymetaldiecast You convinced me! I just ordered this beautiful model, the ordinance just looks too damn good to pass up on it! Will eventually get the F-4E Gunsmoke variant as like you said, gotta catch them all! Where do you purchase your models btw? Here in Canada Hobbymaster's are VERY hard to come by and the place I usually buy from has little stock atm. I would especially love to get my hands on the A-10 "Red Devils" you've previously reviewed although I can't seem to find it anywhere!
      Also, this may be a hard question to answer but what is/are your favorite Hobbymaster model(s) you own? I have just started collecting these and love them and want to know which ones are best!

      @@RinsedCheeks I buy most of mine online, well 99% of them,haha. I shop around on eBay, Amazon have had some at good prices too. Aswell as local hobby shops but using their websites not actually going in,haha. I'm slack well I sort of started getting into the aircraft side of diecast during Covid so had no option but to order online, now it habbit,haha. In Amazon I do a search like 1:72 Hobby Master and the see what comes up. To be honest I couldn't say which ones are best from HM as they do make a great model no matter what the subject usually. One's I can say I'm not a massive fan of for me personally is the F-35's the liveries are fairly boring and there's not a heap of detail compared to other they do. Could be due to the aircraft maybe not having alot of detail because of the stealth side of things. But that said, they do an awesome F-22. It all comes down to in my view is what aircraft you really like ypurself then home in on those. 😀👍

      Gemini Aces do a few of the Spey variants; RAF and RN, but very had to come by as they do not manufacture now-but super if you find one. HM did 74 Squadron ones and Corgi some 1/48 scale Royal Navy 892 Squadron and 111 Squadron models but again expensive and again, amazing diecasts

    I really want an F-4 Model but this is very expensive for me but i also found some cheaper less detailed F-4 that i dont want to spend my money on. Are there any cheaper f-4 models?

    • @heavymetaldiecast
      @heavymetaldiecast  Год назад

      Not really any good ones in this scale that are very cheap unfortunately. If you go a little sampler like i think 1:100 scale you can get some cheaper. Sometimes you can find a bargain. I recently bought a Hobby Master F-4 for just over $100 and that including shipping from Amazon 😀. Corgi ones are sometimes cheaper. Or try finding a second hand one. Second hand models are still good if previous owner has looked after it. Good luck in finding one, because you need to have a Phantom in your life,haha 😀👍
