Dear Irena, It is us who should be thanking you for all the help when we were in the most serious need. I heard of the contribution you made and hope I have a chance to thank you in person. I also know there are Jamaican students who were able to secure places at universities and are studying in Poland right now - Poland has been so welcoming for them. As a Ukrainian, I still find it hard to get the words to express how Ukrainians feel about Poland - a country that saved millions of lives, literally. I can just add that we are forever grateful to all the Polish people for everything they have already done for us and are still doing today. 🇵🇱🇺🇦🇯🇲

Another WOW !!!! I really thought it was going to take me several viewings to get through this THREE (3) HOUR Documentary....but once I started, I just could NOT STOP watching...and the (3) hours seem to fly by. A Testament to a well done and VERY INTRIGUING and EXTREMELY INTERESTING Film. Irina, words can't begin to describe how Awesome and Well Done this Documentary IS. Much Big Up and Nuff Respect to ALL the Jamaicans in this film, and all (even those not featured) who went through the ordeal to get out when the invasion started. But I am MOST IMPRESSED by the UNITY showed by the Group, and in being there for one another. I also KNEW Jamaicans always stand by other Jamaicans (speaking from personal experience); so I am not surprised to witness that in this film. Thank you all for sharing your stories.
Thank you so much! I'm so glad people are finding the film interesting and yes, I totally agree about the unity of the students and I'm so thankful to them for sharing their stories with us. And of course, thank you so much for your support, Trevor! 🙏
Wow! Fantastic! Thank you Irina for putting this together. Such balanced reporting which shines a different light on some of the negative and biased reporting in the early days of the war. If Ukraine was that racist as reported, none of the students would want to return. Just to hear their messages to the Ukrainian people left me very emotional. Absolutely amazing documentary and I believe you should submit this masterful piece of work to the IDA Documentary Awards or even for an Academy Award.
Wow! This is such great work. Irina, you're a true professional at your craft. Three hours went by so quickly. You're great at story telling. Well done. 👏
this documentary made me cry, it was like i was there experiencing what they felt..God bless the Ukrainian people, you will be victorious..and great job Irie..

I totally agree. Irina deserves an award for this body of work. I do video editing occasionally and based on what I saw in this documentary, transitions were excellent and the audio...OMG! Clean and well balanced.
This is a phoney documentary, tell the truth about how those African students were treated in Ukraine trying to flee the war zone.....this is documentary is full of lies, we saw the videos of the Africans mistreatment. 🤔🙄
Wow! I am overwhelmed by this documentary. I was touched at various points during the video. Excellent editing and well produced documentary. I have never even thought about visiting or living in Ukraine but after seeing this video, I would be willing to visit this beautiful country. Great job Irina. As a Jamaican, I would personally like to thank the brave people of Ukraine who cooked for, offered food and assisted our fellow Jamaicans to escape the effects of the invasion. Thank you to the people of Poland as well. Nuff🙂 respect.

Absolutely SHOCKED by how the Nigerians treated Jamaicans. Something you will never hear from western media. Glad the other side of the story was brought to light.
well, I think it was just "life or death" situation and people were seriously stressed out ("stress" is a an understatement here, but can't find a better word). I honestly don't know how I would have reacted if I was there.

I was so happy to see that you finally got a chance to complete this documentary Irene. Once it started, I couldn’t stop watching. It was like a roller coaster ride-I laughed, I cried, I was horrified. In my head, I was on the journey with them; I walked in the freezing cold, my feet ached, I was hungry and full of despair but I felt relief when I made it out safely. As I listened attentively, I heard the students’ passion for your country, knowing that they felt that way because of how they were treated while studying there. It says a lot about the Ukrainian people. I’m so grateful that despite their pain, they were still able to assist so many people on the way to ‘freedom’. I was particularly touched when the lady came of her car to defend my people. That was humanity at its best!!🤗 I really hope someone got her name and number so they could keep in touch. Thank you for looking after my fellow Jamaicans. Thanks also to the Friends of Jamaica team and all others who contributed in some way. The resilience of your Ukrainian people will keep them going during this horrible time. I will continue to pray for them and for the lives of those who perished. On another note, I seriously hope that the students are receiving ongoing counseling. They have been traumatised.
Another excellent documentary Irina. Thank you for your undeniable countless hours spent making this and for giving these students a voice. Their experiences are unique and it is valuable to hear. It’s a terrible situation for all! Glad they made it home safely. It was emotional to watch. My heart goes out to all Ukrainian people 🙏🏻 especially those who are still in their home country.

That was painful for me because I love watching your videos and the other channel. Please continue to put out excellent videos like this one and don't go back to you know what.
Well done, Irena. Just hearing from journalists looking for sensationalism even in war is what inundates broadcast media. Listening to first hand accounts from people who were actually caught up in it and have had a while to settle and rationalize their thoughts and feelings is a totally different thing. I strongly commend the students for being forthright in their expressions and I thank you for bringing their views and experiences to our attention. Well done.

The main take away points were: Yehovah’s help, communication, working together, and outside support. Young people you showed true leadership, fortitude, faith, brotherhood and love. We proud a you. Yehovah is good!
That's true. When I was in Czech I just couldn't help noticing how quiet the people were. On the train nobody speaks. I asked a tour guide " why are they so quiet and don't they smile ". She says because when they were under communism they couldn't speak or smile so they just continued that way. She told me that Bob Marley song " Redemption " brought them hope. In her house they would hide and listened to Redemption Song and just dreamed of freedom. Finally Czech Republic was freed.
Nonsense. In Japan, people do no speak in train and they hadn`t have communism, same West Germany....People do not speak in train in Czech rep., because for 40 years they had communism....what a stupid conclusion... they are so many topics to talk a part from politics....and in 20`s and 30s` the Czechoslovakia was only democratic country in central Europe, among 12 most developed country in the World. Just becouse Western country betrayal, we were under Nazi Germany and then Soviet rules....Westeners, they are such a ignorants...
Thank you for reporting on this subject, happy to see many Jamaicans students are in Ukraine ,it is very refreshing that Jamaicans are traveling all over the world ,I must say Ukrainians are very nice people once they get to know you as you can see from my name ,my mother in law is Ukrainian and my father in law is Polish wishing all those students well .
Is there any way that we can get this out to mainstream media? Excellent work!! I found the song about Jamaica most interesting and funny. Sending prayers up for all the Ukrainians in Ukraine who have been affected by the invasion.
I thoroughly enjoyed this 3 hour documentary. I know Chelsea Williams, who was a past student of Holy Childhood High, I hope the very best and much success in her future endeavours. But not just Chelsea, I hope the very best and much success for all the students were studying there before the war!
Smiling is a coping mechanism in Jamaica. SHE GOT THAT SPOT ON. Even when I was abused by my mother over and over, I was still smiling. SHE IS PERFECTLY RIGHT.
Petcaii Beckford. Not because you can only relate to one thing means that one thing is the umbrella for everything, not everyone is living with abuse, some can & do actually genuinely smile.

I found this so captivating and emotional. I am glad everyone made it out, and like the other commentator so touched that the students made such a concerted effort to keep their group of 20+ together. I like that you don't shy away from the tough questions and tackle racism, discrimination and other challenging subjects head on. I wish all these students the very best and hope they will achieve their goals of becoming doctors and anything else they wish to be! I think it would be nice to translate this into Ukrainian so that people over there can understand it too.
Brava Irina! Excellent documentary. I wish the best for all the students, that they are able to continue their studies and become successful medical doctors.
Thank you for this documentary. It offered another perspective on the events. I hope that mental health help have been offered to the returned students. PSTD is a real possibility considering all they went through. Commendation to all the persons/agencies who helped to get them home. Much blessings!
You are just in a class of your own, excellent journalism. Thanks for this Irene. Your content is always up to par, informative, balanced, socially relevant, and in my view it exceeds my expectation.
Waw! Excellent documentary Irina. Thank you for this insightful, first person insight into the struggles and triumphs of the Jamaican students in Ukraine. You certainly did show Ukraine through the eyes of Jamaicans and helped dispel some troubling uncertainties regarding the evacuation of black students. This documentary was non-biased and raw. My prayers continue for Ukraine and for the students whose lives were so dramatically changed. I love how the students stuck together as ‘One people - Jamaicans.’
These kids! The trauma they had to go through!! Hearing from people who lived through an invasion and escape to tell the tale. So glad there made it out and so thankful for all the people who jumped into action to help them get out and back safely to Jamaica. Great documentary, great job 👏.
Ukraine the number one place to study medicine. I'm just praying for the people of Ukraine. Thanks Irene another well put together vlog. Thank you 🇺🇲🇯🇲
High stress and high anxiety, no blame here to the Ukrainians. Putin is the culprit here. People are people, wherever you go, there are good and bad everywhere. I am glad the youngsters made it home safely.
So soooooooo good. I pray for their sanity as they continue in life. Why are they not acknowledged more. They went thruuuuu it. Our national heroes. Thanks for this video.

Wow!!! Thank you Irina for this brilliant film, and the courageous students for sharing their experiences and insights! It was an honour to hear their stories and first-hand testimonies of what it was really like. It was also beautifully made. As an Irish person, I want you to know that we are supporting Ukraine and their citizens are very welcome here in Ireland. As are Jamaicans, which goes without saying. I visited Jamaica last Christmas and it was magical and when myself and my five-year old niece ran into trouble there trying to get home, the Jamaican people moved heaven and earth to help us. Happy independence day!!! Love from Ireland.
Wow this documentary was outlined well and hearing the testaments from each student on their experience- I was glued listening to their stories- gripping! I am peaked with all the songs that the interviewees mentioned- Jamaica and the holiday theme in Ukrainian- Wow- this is beautiful and such a great and informative video! Дякую тобі

You hard work and honesty is evident. The documentary I found insightful and informative. It's has some important teaching moments. Particularly about how we over lay our fears on everyday situations. Causing us to see bias were it may not exist. A great reminder our experiences can lead us to the wrong conclusions, particularly when you don't have enough information. 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
Irina I watch this entire account of these Jamaican Students ..ESCAPING UKRAINE.. We saw how Ukraine was so beautiful with all those historic buildings and its amazing culture. All the student who took part in this documentary made us feel like we were there. It was very informative and highly emotional at times. A lot of questions was answered. It is also clear how the students love Ukraine would be happy to return when the war ends. Very , very sad how many parts of Ukraine has been destroyed and so many people have been displaced as well as lost their lives. Well done to everyone how took part. Brilliant documentary. I pray that this war will come to an end sooner than later.
Hello Irina, Thank you for your time and dedication to create this documentary/film. It took me about 2 and 1/2 days to watch. You covered all major topics and I commend you. I hope these students are able to locate other schools to complete their education. Especially the ones who were months shy of completing the medical program. Thank you again for your dedication. The main take away points were: Yehovah’s help, communication, working together, and outside support. Young people you showed true leadership, fortitude, faith, brotherhood and love. We proud a you. Yehovah is good!
i was not as brave enough to tell my story with you guys but i must say i applaud your strengths great documentary irina you captured everything.
Thank you, Shavell 🙏❤
Great documentry.. A story of courage and motivation..Thanks for sharing.
This gave me chills. Amazing job! Thank you for sharing their stories
Awesome...awesome job. So glad the students were able to make it home, safe.
Wonderful documentary. The holiday song was one of my favorites for many years. I had no idea it was a Ukrainian original.
Thank you Irie.
They because they didn't like you. This documentary is a propaganda hit piece.
@@martinheretics2645 you seriously sound salty. How are you going to take someone's else experience and call it nonsense? Make it make sense
My mother and family are from the Czech Republic. I agree with your observations and statements!
This should be and could be a movie. I would love to see their story. Great to see Brindsley Fords evolvement too.
Such an emotional transition from part 1 to part 2. Thanks for this detailed documentary!
Wow so well put together. This brought me to tears,
I wish these students all the best.
Excellent excellent video. This should be shown on television as a Doc series. 👏👏👏👏
Is there any way that we can get this out to mainstream media? Excellent work!! I found the song about Jamaica most interesting and funny. Sending prayers up for all the Ukrainians in Ukraine who have been affected by the invasion.
This is propaganda. They treated those African students horribly, Its all on video, don't believe this phoney crap.
I thoroughly enjoyed this 3 hour documentary. I know Chelsea Williams, who was a past student of Holy Childhood High, I hope the very best and much success in her future endeavours. But not just Chelsea, I hope the very best and much success for all the students were studying there before the war!
Excellent job Irina! Very well done! Thanks
@@blacknoble9934 Your point goes without stating it. Please understand that my point was made within the context of another person's statement. Thank you very much for pointing that out though Black Noble.
Just finished watching this the whole way through…So glad to hear it from actual Jamaicans who was there & went through the whole thing all the facts given by real people who have nothing to gain by making any of there ordeal. Outstanding work Irie 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Thank you for this. Giving us a well rounded view of the story. Another excellent video
Irina you have done it again, worth the wait. Powerful, professional, interesting, and informative.
You need to win an award for this documentary!!!
I agree 100%
I second and third that.
Propaganda, tell the truth about what happened to those African students trying to flee the war zone. It's all on video....snakes
This is a documentary. It’s narrated perfectly (clear/concise). I never got bored watching this presentation!
Excellent and insightful interview. It really provided a lot of clarity on misconstrued info placed out there by individuals and the media.
Because of you Me and wife have learnt so much about Jamaica. We like that you take your time to research what you discuss in your videos. Continue to discover more about Jamaica and share with us. :-)
JAMAICA WITH IRIE, very well done! I'm simultaneously happy the students got out but sad for Ukrainians left to face the unjust cruelty.
This is a brilliant documentary, the unity, strength and support those students gave each other was beyond amazing.
This is awesome information, well researched and put together.
Keep up the great work Irina!
Im just glad they are home
Wow!!!! Thank you for all the work you put into making this documentary. It was well done 😊. Very insightful!!!
WOW , this was AMAZZZZZZZING. Respect.
Propaganda 🤔

Brava Irina! Excellent documentary. I wish the best for all the students, that they are able to continue their studies and become successful medical doctors.
Thank you for this documentary. It offered another perspective on the events. I hope that mental health help have been offered to the returned students. PSTD is a real possibility considering all they went through. Commendation to all the persons/agencies who helped to get them home. Much blessings!
Some of the ladies needs medical help!
You are just in a class of your own, excellent journalism. Thanks for this Irene. Your content is always up to par, informative, balanced, socially relevant, and in my view it exceeds my expectation.
Thanks for sharing really appreciate everything you do for Jamaica!
One Love 💕
Fantastic video Irie 👍🏿 This looks like award winning material. Keep up the great work👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
God looks out for these Jamaican students for all of them to get out together.
Jamaicans are survivors. When there is a crisis Jamaicans unit as one.
These kids! The trauma they had to go through!!
Hearing from people who lived through an invasion and escape to tell the tale. So glad there made it out and so thankful for all the people who jumped into action to help them get out and back safely to Jamaica.
Great documentary, great job 👏.
I have missed you. This has been an excellent documentary. I learned a lot.
So informative, happy you did a documentary on this, well done again 👏 👍 🙂
This was well done, thank you Irin
Ukraine the number one place to study medicine. I'm just praying for the people of Ukraine.
Thanks Irene another well put together vlog.
Thank you 🇺🇲🇯🇲
High stress and high anxiety, no blame here to the Ukrainians. Putin is the culprit here. People are people, wherever you go, there are good and bad everywhere.
I am glad the youngsters made it home safely.
Irina you've out done yourself as usual, this was top notch! 😀 it couldn't have been better thank you kindly.
Totally absorbed. The youth did a fantastic job collaborating with you.
So soooooooo good. I pray for their sanity as they continue in life. Why are they not acknowledged more. They went thruuuuu it. Our national heroes. Thanks for this video.
Long awaited documentary and I enjoyed watching. Blessings to you and all the students and participants. Good job 👋
I'm watching the ads because everyone who worked on this doc deserves every last cent from it. I definately will look into this channel after this, i'd heard about it but never really thought anything of it, seems the universe lead me back to it. Interested to see my country through a new set of eyes.
Thank you so much for the support 🙏 With other videos on the channel - it's best to start with the most popular videos on the channel to get the idea why people like it.
Thank you for a great documentary and stories. Bravery all around.
This was so informative, especially for the rest of us in Europe. Thank You! ❤️
Дякую тобі
Brilliant. Thank you so much for sharing this amazing gift.

Outstanding! You outdid yourself, Irie.
You suckt me inn from start to end, didn`t realised it went on 3 hours, befor after. I really enjoy and admire your work. SLAVA UKRAINI👌☝🥰
🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
Very well said, thank you! 🙏
Irina
I watch this entire account of these Jamaican Students ..ESCAPING UKRAINE..
Hello Irina,
Thank you for your time and dedication to create this documentary/film. It took me about 2 and 1/2 days to watch. You covered all major topics and I commend you. I hope these students are able to locate other schools to complete their education. Especially the ones who were months shy of completing the medical program. Thank you again for your dedication. Never knew the history behind the Motherland Monument. Thank you for that piece.
