A different build from the common medium luminious armour build that most builds use spirit guardians with. Plus we're two-handed! If this video does well I could make a spellcaster version of a spirit guardians build.
Very interesting build
Bro, good work 😁
I actually went dual wield and using main hand that mace that sets your strength on 18 so you can focus on boosting others stats
You can also go like 16/8/12/14/16 and start with Paladin all the way to 6, there you get aura of protection with a decent +3 to all saves aura (also a + 3 on concentration), then take light or war domain at will. Since you start as Pally so all weapon/armor proficiency are granted. This way you have extra attack far earlier and can have all three attack at 6/7. This is far more important than having spirit of guardian earlier as a melee build, imho. Dex and Con can be compensated later with items. Unlimited warding flare on partners/self is something to consider. As cleric 6, radiance of the dawn should be twice per short rest. But, sadly nothing of paladin build beat Soradin really.
Good build. You could also pick Light domain for Warding Flare, and the radiant channel divinity once per short rest.
The radiant channel divinity is probably the best part for light cleric route. Warding flare will conflict with shield so not much to gain there, and no heavy armour proficiency with light domain either.
Like it.
Please try building:
Gloves of belligerent skies
Phalar aluve (shriek setting)
Holy lance helm
Cloak of protection
Luminous armor
Callous glow ring
Boots of speed
The amount of prone, shocked, and outright dead enemies is absurd, especially punishing opportunity attacks.
I’ve been enjoying boots of stormy clamor and having my sorcerer caste haste on my character. I have been using the defender’s flail for extra ac but I’m totally going to try out phalar aluve for the extra damage!
So i started as a Paladin and I'm at lvl 3. Next lvl up should i go ahead and multiclass to cleric and build it to 5 then rest back into paladin?
I'd stick to the path in the video.
Respec, start sorcerer for con proficiency, or avoid sorcerer for now and go straight for 5 levels in a cleric for spirit guardians. Then, go 4 straight levels into vengeance pally. This way you get your two feats as early as lvl 9. Raise your strength +2, then either savage attacker (for smites) or great weapon master (for two-hand damage) for your 2nd feat.
This is what I do to Shadowheart every time XD
you don't show spells or are they all just "whatever", apart from SG... suggested Illithid powers?
love the vid, thank you
I don't really use illithid powers so can't give you much info there. For spells, you're not going to be using much other than your divine smites. Since, spirit guardians is your concentration spell, it really limits what spells you're going to use. And plus we are melee heavy here. Spiritual weapon is a nice bonus action spell, healing spells work, and you can also use the fly from the storm sorcerer.
@@Crozynthanks
I just started experimenting with illiquid powers and Psionic Overload, Stage Fright & Cull the Weak seem to take it to a whole new level of disgusting damage
I've been using Spirit Lawnmowers since the dawn of 5e. Especially when they added the Zealot domain cleric. (Max Fireball channel divinity)
You can Also get Spirit guardians with Lore Bard. But you can also get fireball with that :D.
Gonna rock the Monk of 4 elements to use water whip and use tavern brawler. Yall missing out if you didnt.
Yeah lore bard might have more flair if you're not looking for a huge RP build with cleric/paladin
Is it ok if I start as a paladin?
You can, but you should respec later to get the constitution saving throw proficiency.
Hey, firstly, so you don't need cleric for this. You can do it with the College of Lore Bard, then all of your spells are charisma based, and you get cutting words, which is a lot better than anything war priest has to offer :)
Second, you aren't using any elixirs with this build judging from the footage, so you could have used a strength elixir and dumped strength entirely, letting you use medium armour more effectively. Then you could either use the radiant armour (as its effect hits EVERYTHING in melee, unlike the gloves that only hit on thing) or conversely any other armour of your choosing. Or conversely, dump strength, anyways use a finesse weapon (see below) and start using elixir of rage.
Third, since you choose not to use great weapon master feat there is very little reason to be using a two handed if you have access too "Duelists perogative" which gives you a hell of a lot more options in combat and damage over all.
Lastly, the coruscation ring does work. You'll just need to cast "light" on your weapon.
Have to say, though, I love this build. Got my brain working over time!!! Thanks so much ❤
Glad you liked it!
To answer your points:
1. Lore bard doesn't get an extra attack, which was one of my requirements when making this build. Anything that they have concentration wise won't work here either. Still wouldn't be a bad choice, but you're more of a support build and less of an attacker this way (again not what I was going for).
2. I don't base my builds around elixirs, especially the strength elixir. Bloodlust elixir is way better for attacking builds.
3. GWM has more "raw" 2H damage and works great here with 100% advantage. Over time though, savage attacker is just too good with pally divine smites/gear that it's going to be better in this case (plus factor in any GWM misses/untoggles from high AC enemies).
4. I tried the coruscation ring with Nyrulna; spirit guardians did not apply orbs.
What do you think about Tempest Cleric 6/Fighter 6? Sentinel and polearm master feats: with the drake halberd buff your weapon with lightning damage so, every hit that you do knocks back the enemies.
Sounds nice and you get 3 feats. Assuming you have hag hair, you could get 20 str too. I haven't used PAM too much though as I heard it's been bugged for awhile.
Don't spirit guardians scale with wisdom?
It's the same damage regardless of your wisdom, but enemies have to make a wisdom save for the full damage listed. Otherwise, you still get half of the damage if they succeed. So with 20 wis they would fail the saving throw more, but no the damage doesn't scale with wisdom.
Technically it does because they would be making saves against your cleric DC.
But they still take half damage on save. So it's not like spirit guardians absolutely need wisdom unless you're trying to maximize damage. One way to have Wis higher is use elixirs of hill giant strength instead and drop STR.
@@Crozyn well it does half damage.
Too bad smites use up spell slots so they are useless unless you rest more than once per act which is stupid way to play
That's why you save them for the big boss fights!
