I also love how they take into account role playing but then also give the best option for both minmaxers and casual players.

In defense of Zariel tiefling, you get smites as spells that take spell slots as paladin, but you get them free of spell slot wastes as Zariel tiefling, and Thaumaturgy is a must have when you're a front face of the party - which paladin usually is. So you can choose other spells without smites, and you get advantage on often-used charisma checks. Resistance to fire just makes them OP paladins too.

Been obsessed with BG3 and was impressed by your style and format. I would love to see your perspective on a crowd control/support character. I've heard a good honour mode character would be 2 life cleric/10 lore bard with a focus on spells like hold person. What's your perspective on that sort of build's efficacy?

  • @marcosdheleno
    @marcosdheleno 5 месяцев назад

    here's a cool idea for a build:
    1 nature cleric/11 hunter.
    dual wielding, shileilag clubs/staves.
resistance to cold, fire and poison.
can dump str and dex, and focus only on wisdom and constitution, while wearing heavy armor.
gets whirlwind attack and can mark bosses.
feats on +2 wisdom, savage attacker, spell sniper to get thorn whip and eldritch blast or dual wielder(to dual staves).
the idea is to have this on a party member, instead of the main character.
as a side note, im pretty sure, dual wielding torches with shilleilagh will probably out dps most weapons in the first act. being 2(5-15) with a 16 or 17 wisdom.
if you do pick this as a starter, you can make them a dragonborn so they could gain resistance to a 4th element. either lightning or acid.
you can also start as druid, or go fighter instead of ranger.
but i like the idea of this cleric of nature, that is used to dealing with group of poachers. either breaking their groups apart, or going for their boss.
as a side note, shilleilagh, if picked from the druid initiate feat, can allow an eldritch knight to use int instead of str, dex or wis as their attack mod.
so you could finally make an eldritch knight who can become more of a spellblade. and because you already have so many feats from fighter, its easier to pull off.(you can also get thorn whip since you get 2 druid cantrips).

It’s interesting how even something as “cookie cutter” as this can vary from person to person. I just hit level 5 with my OOV Honor mode Paladin, and I decided to go with a dexterity focused build to get good initiative for the early game. I’m purely paladin right now; 18 dexterity w/ ASI using Phalar Aluve as a one handed weapon with a shield using the dueling fighting style.
While haste / speed potions are nerfed in honor, I like using that to get Sing or shriek online and still get to attack with one added attack on following turns. Thinking it will also be handy to have that extra action for hold person into two crit smites

You said that your paladin did a poor showing for purposes of making an example of how awesome the character can be. I'm going to respectfully disagree.
There's theorycrafting awesome builds, and then there's the reality of those builds. In play, we're not always going to get our hits in, we're not always going to trigger bonuses and abilities, and we're not always going to win.
I think it's as important to see the failures as the successes. We want to see real play, not some expertly edited video that only shows successful hits. This helps us make informed choices about what builds we want to pursue.
Or at least, that's how I feel about it. Still loving your videos, because they're not polished or scripted. Keep being awesome, and I'll keep tuning in! 🙂
