With how good the story is i sometimes actually forget how good the animation can get for the show.
The animation in this episode is insanely good, and it's awesome to see that most watchers agree (usually there is a part of the community that likes to talk shit about the animation with no reason behind it). But no one seems to be talking about the best animated part of the episode. For me, the standout animation is when Rudeus's staff releases water at an insane rate to stop the hydra's fire breath. The way the water flows from his staff is just mind-blowing. The sequence is short but you can see they put a lot of effort into it. Props to the animation/direction staff for this episode
i wish they didnt downgrade some of the character animations,its painfuly obvious with roxy,she was so crisp animated in season 1...now she looks rly off
3D was absolutelly amazing. Untill someone told me, I actually never noticed that.

0:31 I mean. . . tp3 was dropped on mothers day and a big part of that is the reveal of sylphy becoming myplhy then we had a week break. I dont think its hard to reach the conclusion that airing "parents" on fathers day was intentional
Of course i was speculating. But more so saying this part was realease because they wanted to put this episode on fathers day. Maybe the week break was to do with this but again i could be wrong.
@@sinchisan I feel its definitely possible they wanted the extra time to pull this together so well, and saw the opportunity to also align it with Fathers day, there can be more than one reason.
At first I didn't even realize that Paul's Body was cut in half, I thought it was crushed under Rubble. That kinda doubled my "oh Shit!" moment

What a masterpiece
Fantastic breakdown. You earned a sub from me. A lot of effort and careful planning went into the production of this episode and it shows. The entire sequence of the hydra using its breathe weapon and Rudy needing to block had me at the edge of my seat. As for this episode, very rarely do I assign a perfect score, but my goodness this was a near perfect, if not perfect. This was not an easy battle and had tremendous consequences for Rudy, costing him physically, mentally, and spiritually. Loosing your dad and your mother possibly being braindead or not remembering; talk about a very bittersweet ending.
Also, this episode did a really good job of conveying the group as a D&D party of sorts with everyone playing a key role in killing the hydra. All in all, it's nice to see MT finally flexing with its animation after so long which the quality drop has been noticeable; though as you said, the writing is still good.
What I liked about this action scene is the pacing. With pacing you have to consider what you're pacing. Is it event to event, action to action? With this scene it shifts between action>reaction>decision> command> action. It makes the pace of the fight very dynamic without stopping to explain a decision. Things are left unsaid and characters trust each other without needing to over explain. Nobody goes against the team decision because one hesitation will lead to death. And because the focus of every shot is on this pacing we rarely get confused about what is happening in between. A lot of first time viewers noticed right away that Rudy's arm got torn off without the anime putting focus on it. It's that good.

First thing what are you expect from Mushoku Tensei? Action? Fantasy? Shounen moment?
Mushoku Tensei is a Drama anime. The story focus on someone that have a second chance to start everything from beginning.
Action, Shounen moment, Fantasy is only a side dish in Mushoku Tensei especially in S1 and S2. The main focus is about Rudeus new life not about the exciting moment. Because life is not always about something like action and fantasy.
This is more like Rudeus Greyrat diary. The story about Rudeus when he got reincarnated and get a second chance. If this is another Isekai they don't care about the MC and characters they only focus on conflict on the world. Action conflict with the Nation or between the Enemy and the Main character.
Of course there's a Politic, Action, Fantasy in Mushoku Tensei but Season 1 and Season 2 is still the Introduction and character building moment. Just remember in S1 we been introduced to Rudeus new family, cure his trauma from going outside.
The reason why we go adventure the author want to introduce us about the world of Mushoku and also introduce us to all the character.
And amazingly they make it as a plot Rudeus adventuring because got teleported. So he can introduce us about the world and character. Zanoba, Nanahoshi, Orsted, Pax, Talhand, Elinalize, Kishirika Kishirisu, Ruijerd, and even told us about alot of stuff like Seventh great power. Sword Style system, Ranking system, Magic System.
In S2 we have been reintroduce to all the character that we have meet in S2 they bring all the character together here so we can building the character (Zanoba, Cliff, Nanahoshi, Slyphy, Ariel, Luke, Pursena, Linia) they build this character as Rudeus Friends.
And reintroduce again Character like Aisha and Norn because we not been introduce to them properly in S1. We only meet all this character one time. But there's no develop, we don't know what they like we don't know what they were doing.
- Now cliff working for Elinalize curse
- Zanoba working on his Doll project with Julie
- Nanahoshi now working with Rudy, now we know who she is
- Aisha and Norn they're back and now we fix Rudeus and Norn relationship. Norn work with her Writing a book about Ruijerd, Aisha she working as a maid.
- Rudeus got wife Slyphy.
- We almost reunited all the family
- Zenith home, Lilia Home
- even though Paul died.
And all the character are in one place and been develop properly am I wrong?
S1 and S2 about introduction how they did it? With fantasy concept, mana teleportation incident.
In S2 they bring back and develop all character. How? Made them to go to the same school as Rudeus. Paul also send Aisha and Norn to Rudy, Rudy also already married? Am I right?
So what is the S3 content?
Hitogami, Orsted, Demon God, Armoured Dragon King Perugius Dola, Demon King Badigadi, Eris, All the God stuff that we never touch before. We don't even know what is the reason hitogami came to Rudy in the first place. Why Orsted hates Hitogami. Why In this world has so many place and race. There's alot of strong people in this world we never met yet. And all of that already been introduce but they never touch it because they want to develop all of Rudeus friends and Rudeus. And also behind of that they keep build up the hidden plot

It was deliberate Fate/Zero did the same on Father’s Day why else would they have a recap episode in the middle of the season

I barely know anything whenever it comes to do with staff but i still try and research to at least appreciate the workers. I have a question related to this considering the future of mt.
Obviously season 1 was created by a magnificent team according to qhat everyone says and some left season 2. I see that most people say they left for the other anime the studio were making. Now what i wanna is what are the odds they return? Is t hat something that happens, rarely, or never happens in the industry? Whwn compared to the release or announcement of anime season how fast is the cast revealed

its highly unlikely that the people that made Season 1 look that good like the director, animators and exc. Mushoku tensei's schedule is not the best since season 2. The season 1 director left to make idolmaster U149 probably because he likes idolmaster and it had a better schedule. But you never know
Most amazing animators nowadays do not stay and work for a single studio. And the most important factor for them to choose job are the salary and schedule. And unfortunately, the budget for every anime series always decrease season by season, and the reason is simple, anime can only make most of their money during season 1. And the watching-rate always drop season by season so they can not make enough money to support their further job. So, yeah, those people leaved this studio not likely to go back and the reason is not because they hate this studio or anime. It's just because there are always more-budget new series there waiting for them. Unless MT can give more selery to hair those amazing animator, which is impossible, so there is no chance for them to come back. Sesson 1 always have the most amount of budget and the most flexible schedule, that is why the best season for every anime series always be their session 1.

Airing on Father's Day was a coincidence. There was a golf tourney that was reserved months prior at that exact time slot which meant that Mushoku had to be pushed back a week. This was according to the Chinese animator who animated Paul's death.

Why is it hard to animate big things like hydra or dragon in anime? Any answers???
maybe because there big animal like things which don't move like humans so you don't have reference in how they move and also hydras have multiple heads so animating them simultaneously may be hard but I don't really know I am not an animator or an expert

Basically if it's 3D you just need to make a doll. So you can move it and animated. But if it's 2D you have to redraw every second to make it the doll move.
Again drawing also you have draw the detail. And change every detail like the position of the legs and dragon also have alot of scales and have to draw it different angle, Everytime the dragon moving.
3D = make a doll, and then just move the doll as you like.
2D = you have to redraw it everytime you need to make the draw or the doll moving.
More to draw and a more complicated design to draw
Animal is already hard to draw and animated, and we're talking about a thing that doesn't exist, having 9 heads moving independently. Imagine you have to draw it frame by frame, having cgi is the only way to go but they cooked it so hard man

throughout the fight they had a line formation and kept shouting for help whenever they needed someone to break formation to help. the novel explains this in a lot of detail but basically everyone was at some point

This entire season has had so many bad writing moments that an action episode just doesn't do it for me anymore. It's not even the production, the storytelling is so fucking atroucious, I am like how do you mess up alr fantastic tale? Sadly I'll have to continue watching it hoping just hoping that the phenomenal story telling that was s1. I genuinely wish they return to the Orsted plotline, man plz(LN readers plz lmk if they do).
Tbh even the first season turned me off. It was just too gooner brained for me.
If you want to know . Then yes of course they will return to it , when ? In season 3 which will be the best season of the series especially the first half. And about this season being bad at storytelling ,I don't know what are you talking about why is it bad at storytelling? To me yes as an adaptation the first season did better, but as a content from the light novel I prefer this season. They cut a lot this season.

Everything built up this season was crucial for character development for Rudeus and for all the strong connections he’s made. This is what makes a redeemable character arc for rudeus and also he starts to reflect back on how much regret he had in his previous life. Everything is not just action and plain fighting all the time. If you really want that shit, go some one dimensional no character development shit like SAO or solo leveling
