AAMU MMW is the most slept on band in the SWAC! They are hella clean, discipline, Tone and dynamics on point. They need a lil more song selection but thats just about it. Other than that they really was getting at Juke, they stood they ground and didn't let juke punk them. And da tuba was waxing they ass! This coming from a big Human Jukebox fan but I loving the new & improve MMW. The come up been real for past few yrs. A&M took the W on this one. keep up the good work my fellow Bulldogs!!! Great job by both bands thanx for the experience! Looking forward to next year!

I like both bands. I'm old school music and ways. We couldn't wear jewelry or make-up. I love the arts today tho. And hopefully more youngsters get involved in them. These schools should mk. Sure they have good programs for kids starting in elementary and middle school. I was in my high school band back in the day, Roosevelt High School in Dallas Tx, under the direction of Mr. Thomas Ross Jr..

You act like Haymer arranged and directed every song, Simmons and Taylor did the bulk of the songs when Haymer was the head guy. SU did not start or end with Haymer, trust the process like Doc trusted Jackson, and Jackson trusted Haymer. They're still the top band, the acoustics on the gym is distorting both bands sound. True SU fans are fans of the band not the director.

Very surprised by the acoustics playing in the gymnasium. I hate listening to bands in gyms unless I am in person. The sound normally echoes bouncing off those spaced out walls. But it was very minimal in this vid. Got dang Kev u a beast recording this bands in any situation.

There seems to be some anonymous jukes pushing some bull crap lines about missing Hayman. This from a Juke from 85. There's huge improvement. Get the hell out of here with that slick side crap. Take the interim handle off. Director is what he is. This sounds exactly what SU should sound like. Of course it's early and some improvement will happen. But it was very hard to understand what the band was playing (sometimes) under Hayman. SU is SU again, especially on the field. We're grateful.

I have a few things to say, IN MY OPINION;
●I have noticed the SPIRIT of SU is not the same (minus one person). They lack motivation and the KILLER INSTINCT.
They are not as attentive but one huge area of concern for me is the slight tension between the directors. B.S. keeps his distance from K.T (ESPECIALLY on NECK
● Great job MMW, the ONLY way to beat SU is to play YOUR style and not to deviate. You maintained your composure while SU did all they could to distract you SU is known for cranking on people you can't beat their volume. So when that doesn't work, they have nothing left. Which leads me to my last observation.
●Why play when the other band is playing? To me it shows a sign of desperation and defeat. SU got OUT CLASSED TONIGHT!

Brian Releford when Haymer was Director you can tell the style KT and Brian had. Brian is more up tempo, open music selection and new school while Taylor was more old school, slow R&B jams, old songs. Plus Brian is watching his back cause they coming after him next.

As much as I try to give other bands the advantage I gotta admit that su is definitely on top they have this distinctive sound that you can tell apart from any band but don't get me wrong A&M was 🔥🔥but southern is just southern

I live where aamu is like next door close. But su gotta fix that. This is coming from an 8th grade clarinet player and I love band so I know the difference between good and bad. Su sounded band honestly but su dance team always kill especially Camryn.
I've seen and heard better from the Juke... Tempo isn't the best by SU, however the sound is there no doubt. Needs a bit more discipline. AAMU has come along a FAR ways... still needs work as well. Decent jobs by both schools.

There is nothing wrong Southern. With any organization that goes through turmoil then change, there is an adjustment period when the smoke settles. The core of who the Juke is is still there. There is a new director. But he is continuing the tradition and bringing back some of the old that made the Juke what it is. They still have the same arrangers and the one they added is doing a great job. The Juke only has one band that can beat them hands down (Themselves). You can go back and watch clips of the band from the last 20-30 years and will here a different band each year. Yes some years are stronger than others, but the nucleus and core of the band never changes. They will be fine. 95Juke( da nasty nickel)

@@arithacyprien5242 .....I am telling you that I can hear all of the ensemble voicings(instrumentation), clarity of rhythm, tempo and dynamic contrast in AAMU's music. They have a better tone quality because they are not trying to destroy the world with their sound. SU's trumpets are very loud and at times the sound is very nice(as a section), but a lot of the time it's too harsh and covers up the rest of the band. When the band plays at dynamics above forte, the different pitches aren't locking because they are not blending and balancing the ensemble sound. When they play at piano, they have tuning issues. They have more trumpets than woodwinds😱 how do you expect them to blend and balance? Some people are so impressed by the power of Southern's sound and that satisfies them. The beginning of Medicine was the best blend and balance they produced👍 That was very nice!

I say all because sometimes I want them to play songs as a agressive as the Busta Rhymes they played during the 5th, but they decide to play Johnny Quest(impressively clean and controlled)--that takes great musicianship, diversity and discipline to do!
