That’s what Howard wants. He’s using her as a scapegoat for what he initially wants. You think he would let some chick do this to his show that he worked at his entire career unless he was 100% on board?
Agreed BUT Marci doesn't have and never had autonomy to do as she pleases. She's simply one of Howard's minions who follows instructions. She didn't change Howard. Money and fame changed him. Marci just did what Howard paid her to do.

It seems like he uses Marci as a mechanism to do the things he really always wanted to do, but didn't have the balls to do in person. Howard always had a disdain and disregard for his staff on the air, and played nice in person. The radio guy is the real guy, and now he has a hitman in Marci to treat the staff the way he always wanted to. It's pretty obvious.
Agree 100%. Marci deserves some blame but the fact fans blame her more than Howard for the show sucking are hilarious. This is what Howard always wanted
As a former fan of the show for a long time, Howard always wanted Gary to fulfill Marci’s role for years, but because he emasculated Gary so much and needed him for on air fodder, he was never able to do it. I also don’t believe Gary has that type of leadership ability to do it anyway.
I say Artie called it like it is....the way it played out but at the core it’s Howard was always a fake...

Howard definitely got Hollywood. For example in the 90s he had celebrities openly hate him, but now with Sirius backing he has A list celebrities as friends.
He's getting to be almost 70. You lose a lot of the hate when you get older (I'm pretty old myself). He talked about wanting to do his dream interviews before his career ends, and people hate him for it because the celebrities don't hate him anymore. There comes a time when the anger isn't productive anymore, and you realize it never really was. Interesting to listen to on the radio, but carrying all that hate weighs on a man.
He has always wanted to be Hollywood, but wasn't accepted. That is why he slammed them. They were like the "cool kids" at school spurning him, but he wanted to be in with that crowd. No surprise at all

Howard Stern’s Golden Years were from 1989-2000. After Jackie and Billy West left, it started declining. Artie came aboard and breathed life back into the show. After he left, that was the end. I am forever grateful to Howard for all the good years pre 2011. I was a listener since the days of WNBC when I was in Grade school. I wish he would sell a subscription to all his old stuff. I bet he’d make a boat load of money.

I wouldgive him up to the first day on Sattelite..I listened on 9/11 and he did great giving the emotions of sverage people..but we heard every day how the show would take off on sattelite..they'll say anything and do anything..then he gets on satellite and he became more restrained
The 101 content is heavily edited. It won't play any old stuff that would put him in a bad light, possibly get him cancelled or embarrass any of his Hollywood buddies. Yer never gonna hear any Kinnison or stuttering John bits from the 90s. You know, the stuff that made him famous in the first place.
I am seriously considering penning a book on how Sterns entire evolution was the canary in the coal mine for the loss of the freedom of speech in all forms of media we all enjoyed in the late 90s.

My son is 12. We don't have Sirius. I havent listened to stern in years. I listened to howard for 25 years. Didn't listen since i had my son. Somehow, i am assumimg through instagram? My son knows who Beetlejuice is. Its crazy. Anyway, i showed him a picture of me and my friend with Beetlejuice, we were 27 maybe... it was from a concert, my son was freaking out.. he snap chatted it to his friends, he thought it was great. Beet is still going strong ! Who, me?

Scott The Engineer being fired was really shocking. Honestly, between the push up's and anal for $250. Some of the best moments ever and just fired like it was nothing. After 30 years.
Yeah that sucked a lot. I feel bad for him but thats what happens with any company, best to always remember you can be replaced. thinking of your co-workers as a family is never going to end well. Business is tough but howard kept him for probably longer than he should have.

Doing firing on air is cold. So messed up. I believe in change. Everything evolves.... but like what happened with Scotts wife. Just cold.
I don't pardon Marci for anything, but she isn't to blame for the show ending. Howard is. He changed. It's really simple as that. Marci is the cough and Howard changing is the cold. She is just a symptom of what really is/was going on. The show as we loved it ended before Marci, maybe when Howard started talking about Dancing With The Stars and American Idol, stuff Jackie would cough (f)(aggot) at. Artie and the wack pack were the last vestiges of what the show once was and actually held the show together.
Hurricane Sandy happened. Bababoey told Howard trampolines were more important than the show. Only Jason and shuli said Howard could count on them. Marci was in charge by the end of the year.
You aren't missed trust me. Haters are never missed. Howard grew up. Time for you to do the same

It’s crazy everyone who used to work for Howard hates him now. He just spent so many years goofing and hating on the celebrity elites and made it seem like he wanted nothing to do with them snd hated their character but really he just hated the fact that he wasn’t accepted into that group. Now that he is accepted by those fake weirdos he completely shit on everyone who came up with him as if they are just peons snd his the almighty king. As soon as Gary finally retires or just isn’t working with him anymore you’ll hear how he really feels too along with Fred and possibly robin. Robin always followed Howard with whatever agenda he was pushing but she also seems like she doesn’t put up with the bullshit. I’m sure she doesn’t agree with the way he is now either.

Howard tv was so ahead of it’s time. The show would be immense today if it had the same essence it had back in 2006-2009 especially with all the woke garbage today it would stand out and say stop being a wuss. Like Chapelle he isn’t afraid of these Twitter warriors and woke garbage. Howard was always that way too but she made him soft. I’m sure the fear of Howard tv content had Marci Turk whiting herself the. turned everything PC and woke. Really a tragedy because that show had something you could not find anywhere else.

Quite an astonishing heist - probably the most audacious since the Iraq war: how Marci Turk radically transformed one of the most successful, dynamic, hilarious and exciting radio formats of all time and turned into one of the most insipid, anodyne, and frankly dull shows ever(despite the odd Beetlejuice reference, which piques ones interest - he never gets old) shows ever, AND how Stern still walks away with 120 million dollars per year. And I bet Marci sees some of that. And I can hear Stern ranting about how fans can fuck off if they don't like what his show has become, but I still find it unfathomable that presumably with every listener now having switched (what is there to listen to but a near-septagenarian spewing banal doggerel in his basement, without even an echo of the charm, dynamism or wit that made him so compelling and brilliant for so long. Even the wrap-up show was amazing entertainment and sometimes as good as the main show till the needlessly destroyed that and reduced it to just Gary and Jon Hein cos the main core of the Stern show has been gutted, they can't have the wrap up show potentially being as interesting, with all the tension it used to inflame, that they could then use on the Stern show the next day. And I'm giving him major props here - it's testament to how amazing his show was, that now it feels SO lame. Fuck Marci Turk. Life might be easier for Howard, but it's abject for the audience. I guess he doesn't care, and Sirius just like keeping him on for the brand recognition. But 120 million for brand recognition and no listeners is quite remarkable. That Marci Turk pulled off an impossible heist!
PS Will be great if this interviewer speaks to Bobby Rooney, or indeed Bobby with the great Beet1

Howard is free to do whatever he wants. Just like I'm free to never listen to his horrible show any longer. I literally stopped when Howard TV went away. It's a shame what happened. I would have thought at one point there would have been parades when he retired. Now I don't think anyone will even notice or care.

It was the "Howard Stern SHOW". The "show" has been removed. The people who made the show and enabled his enormous success are all disposable to him. He's a sad man.
Thanks for the interviews. I was a huge fan of the Howard Stern show from 1994 until 2013. After that it was unwatchable (there was no more in studio video). It really became unwatchable from late 2011 (when Howard signed on to AGT) and onward and unbearable from mid 2012 (when Howard met Marci). After Howard hired a good part of the staff in late 2013 (because of Marci) I bailed. Howard really lost his edge when he met Beth (around 2000). The show was still hilarious until KC and Stuttering John Left (around 2004). 2005 was a write off because Howard focused on leaving KROC to go to Sirius. Unlike most, I think Artie was a disaster from early 2006 to late 2009. When he was fired the show was still okay for another 2 years.
And since then the show has sucked. Great.

Gange is wrong. Howard would NOT have been as much of a success of he didn't bring the cast of characters on the show that he did. No one of them made him, but if you take out ALL of them? Howard would be just another Morning Zoo
He was constantly looking for his “Marci” dating back to early 90s during legendary Gary/Howard fights, Howard would constantly say that Gary was too big of a star since Howard brought him on the air and he wanted to hire a “Hitler” who wasn’t on-air and would be his axe man

Honestly, the opinion and info I trust the most is Brian Phelan. He seems the most real. He doesn’t have any issues. He still occasionally emails Howard back and forth. He just seems like such a cool dude.
I got Sirius because of Howard and got rid of it because of Howard.

Jimmy is a cool dude and humble.
Howard did some amazing comedy and accomplished some incredible things over the years, but you can't be 30 and angry forever; at some point your brand grows or it's gone. This is how you build a media empire. You need to take stock, level up, and get rid of anyone who cant take the ride. That's business.
I don't agree with this at all because his show was basically the same when he was in his early and mid 50's still. And he already had the media empire by then and was set for life financially. It was toned down maybe a little but still very funny. You can evolve a bit and tone down a bit of the raunchiness and still maintain your sense of humor and what you stand for.
Howard was on the radio for so long that people felt like he was the real deal. Now his show hasn't evolved but turned into what he once mocked and despised. A complete 360. And it isn't more popular than it was 20 years ago its much less popular despite his enormous salary. SiriusXM just doesn't have any other big names to use as their flagship attraction.
I know what the best items are. I used to ride the Comet back in the day. Bought it from George in Pawtucket.

Of course the Howard tv guys didn't find out that they didn't have a job anymore at the last minute. It's like Howard retiring, he's always gotta make a big announcement outta it at the last minute. If I were his employees, I'd be on eggshells the last year of his contact. Would it be too much to ask him to give his employees heads up that the company they work for is fixing to end???.
