    Performance car experts are saying that the new M3P makes the BMW M3 no longer the standard by which sports sedans are measured. I just took delivery my 2024 Tesla M3P. I have been a BMW owner for over 20 years and must say this car outperforms in virtually every measure. The first thing that grabs you is the superb handling - of course control is top notch and in addition the ride is amazing with its adjustable dampening it remains PLANTED in nearly every road condition. Instantaneous throttle response (no hated turbo-lag) ludicrous acceleration (0 x 60 2.9 seconds) AND it pulls hard up to 155+ mph. Around town this thing is sooo quick!! The new sports seats are unmatched and the cabin is quiet! I plug-in at home with a fill-up around $10-15. Absolute Nirvana. A BMW M3 with necessary options stickers around $90-100. My M3P was $48k with standard Stealth Grey color (qualified for $7,500 EV tax credit). There can be no doubt that Elon set out to take the Best Sports Sedan crown from BMW and succeeded hands-down IMO.

      The interior build quality of the Tesla is inferior to the BMW M3 in every way. And although the new M3P Highland is a much needed upgrade over the older model, it still falls way short of BMW standards. And there are still key features missing such as a driver display and HUD, bird’s eye camera view, and the accuracy of sonic sensors for parking. All of which my 6-year old BMW has standard. Yes, Tesla is definitely cheaper, but you are also getting a lot less. And let’s face it, the battery technology is outdated. Solid state batteries are only a couple years away which offer far superior range and can full recharge in 10 minutes. I for one can wait. I just hope Tesla improves upon their interior build quality by then 😉

    • @sleepy_ipl
      @sleepy_ipl 3 месяца назад +17

      @Great_America solid state batteries are only years away? We'll see about that, buddy. Keep believing those click bait article headlines.

      @Great_America bmw is a luxury brand just like Mercedes and lexus. Tesla does not portray themselves as those brands.
      Best bang for your buck is the model 3 performance without a doubt. Now if you are worried about interior quality and niceties than feel free to spend an extra $45k for a m3 competition xdrive.

    Fantastic review, thanks Andrew! I'm going to be picking up this or the long range in a couple of months and now I'm definitely leaning towards the performance version because it just seems like such a fun drive, hopefully the lack of stalks is something that can be gotten used to over time. I've also had one of the previous generation long range cars with the speed boost and absolutely loved it.

    I got a 2024 M3P. Previous cars have been various Porsche 911s and last was a Taycan. Taycan had various quality issues and the car was off the road for 2 days every time there was a software upgrade. Porsche couldn't care less so I looked at other options and bought the Tesla. The M3P is as fast as any Porsche I've own. The chassis is planted and the tech makes Porsche look like they're 10 years behind. The Tesla charging network is better and more available than the Ionic network Porsche were pushing. Range is better than my last Taycan and the price is half that of a new Taycan. The only point on which my old Taycan wins is its brakes are better (when they worked). Also everything is pretty much standard with Tesla whereas Porsche just keep adding the options and charging handsomely for it. Quite happy with the Tesla and really don't miss the Porsche.

Tesla all the way for convenience, less problems and super user friendly. No hassle purchase. Porsche dealerships gone high super highway robbery!! Absurd.

    Fantastic review, Andrew, thanks! I don't like the on-screen shifting, but I still really like the 2024 Model 3 Performance. I made the mistake of renting one for two days and um, well, I want to sell my 2023 Performance now and move to the '24 Performance. The only issue is that Uber Red currently does not qualify for the Federal Tax Incentive in the U.S., nor does any color but Stealth Gray. Hopefully Tesla Insurance comes to Australia soon!
    Really enjoyed your vid, the cinematography, the great moving shots of the car, etc. Expertly done!
    P.S., how do you like the headlights for night driving in the '24 vs. the last Performance car you had?

    • @AndrewEthanZeng
      @AndrewEthanZeng  3 месяца назад +2

      Thank you! Headlights are quite similar to my previous M3 so they're great, esepcially with the latest software update that gives us adaptive headlights. The interior cabin lighting though is WAY brighter than the previous gen, like 2-3x brighter.

    The pickup experience in Toronto is also great. I'll never forget the day I picked up my brand new 2023 LR model. The car was spotless, adorned with a red bow, and came with a “Congratulations” note, which I’ve kept to this day. As I drove out with a big smile on my face, a young Asian couple noticed my excitement. 17:45 Oil changes need to be done every 50k km (30k miles) to ensure drive units will not fail prematurely, despite what tesla says. Both drive units DO HAVE oil to be changed, and tesla is lying customers about it in order to make electric cars even more appealling.

    After driving mine around for a few weeks and playing with the suspension modes, I somehow left it on standard because I guess I thought it was more comfortable and didn't make that big a difference, but I come from the old 2019 M3P and I really started to notice how the new one just didn't feel great in certain circumstance, like the change of direction was just not great.
    It's not something I notice straight away when I change the mode and I thought "oh it doesn't feel that different, so I'll leave it in standard for the better ride".
    Anyway after a few weeks I noticed that I just wasn't getting out of the car smiling as much anymore. Finally, it dawned on me that it was the suspension mode, so I changed it back to sport and now I find myself smiling a lot more! It's a subtle change and isn't really that noticeably better to me on some corners, but then at certain times, especially if you are turning hard one direction and then hard the other direction quickly, then that's where the difference is much more apparent.
    It's almost a back of mind feeling that you get that you can't put your finger on as to why the sport mode just makes the car more fun to drive.

    15:50 couto's to tesla for making a car that is so safe that it can keep occupants safe even going off a cliff, and having such good safety features... but this right here, is a huge example of the fact that no matter how many cameras, sensors, and tech your car has to make driving safer, if you're a shit driver, you're going to crash. and the thing is, we can eliminate most crashes on the road quite easily, and it doesnt require self driving cars to do it. simply make people require a certain level of skill before being issued a license. when i got my license, all i had to do was essentially drive around the block like a grandma. the hardest part was the 3 point turn inside the cones which if honestly would have been a lot easier without the cones because the cones were distracting to where you can actually turn. it should have just been a certain width space, and told to turn around in that space, only using 3 turns but i digress.
    we dont need fancy fsd and AI taking over driving for us to make the roads safer. just make people more skilled drivers so they dont drive off cliffs and crash in the first place. people in manual transmission cars dont crash more than people in automatics even though they're doing more. crash statistics havent gone that significantly down even with the vast improvement in security features and driver assistance features. its all about the operator of the vehicle, and the operator of other vehicles, not the vehicle itself that needs to change.

    Nice review. However, if you want fake engine noise and fake shifting, you should have gotten the Hyundai.

    Does anybody know why the european model of the Model 3 performace got a less powerful battery then the US model? Is this just temporary or is the EU model gona get the battery thats in the US model later on? I been watching video of both models when they test the acceleration and the US model is far superior.

      it's not gonna change, but the only difference is in the top end accleration pulls. they're identical from 0-100km

      @@JJ-we2mh How do you know certain that its not gona change? I know people here in europe complaining including me becuse this is a big factor when buying a performance car. I will not buy this car in Euro spec before they change to the US Panasonic battery..... The US Car is also faster then the Euro car in 0-100 km/h. Just watch the tests people do here on youtube using dragy or other good masurement tools.

    Any reason you’re using MPH / miles etc for your stats, when you’re clearly in Aus? Better for broader (US) audience appeal? Just curious.

      likely the same reason why other non-US car reviewers use miles..their channel audience is probably mostly north americas

      it's clear you've not driven the hyundai 5n or even watched a review. simulated noises are engaging irl and fun if it's an option to turn it off or on why can it not be a bonus addition? Andrew's worked with plenty of car brands but it's not surprising that you're ignorant as hell

    how is it a Shanghai factory production car? if it is in the US then it should be the Vermont factory with the Panasonic battery which is faster than the LG battery that are build in Shanghai gigafactory. No?

    How does the ride quality compare with the LR? Is it really on par? I would buy the m3p but leaning towards rhe LR for the cushier suspension and soft 18s

    • @AndrewEthanZeng
      @AndrewEthanZeng  2 месяца назад +1

      On sports mode, it's a significantly rougher ride than the LR. On the standard setting the adaptive suspension does a good job bringing it pretty close in ride comfort to the LR, but the LR edges out thanks to its 18" wheels.
