Torfgesellsschaft Essern Peatworks. Filmed in 1996.

The 600mm gauge peat works railway located just outside the small village of Essern, Germany, closed in approx 2001. Since then a preserved operation has operated on most of the route. This video was taken in June 1996 when it was still in industrial operation.
It was a delightful roadside railway in a rural location.

No comments? Well, I thank you sir, for recording this bit of history for me to enjoy! I would hope a club or some other organization continues to use the railway and equipment for preservation and entertainment. I hope they didn’t just rip up the rails for a bit of scrap money, like they do here in the States.
