  • In June 1996 several small Schöma locos were shunting on the moors prior to bring a loaded peat train back to the peat works.
There is now a DVD available of this of this railway reflecting the changes over the years: Narrow Gauge at Work 34: The Changing Face of Vechta. It can be ordered on-line from; www.ingr.co.uk/vids_dig34.html

Orenstein & Koppel or Decauville equipment seems to be the heritage of the equipment.

2:49 That one man sanding is impressive!

These points are quite typical on these lightly laid peat tracks as they are moved so often . The sanding happens because the ovens cannot keep the sand dry enough to stop blocking the sanders so its as easy to use a bucket . At least then you get sand . These trains are often suprisingly heavy

Very nice, with picnick-baskets and Kletterweichen, may bee in english: "switches for climbing". The locos in this vid are sold to a museum.

I wouldn't be surprised if this was the former GDR, but Vechta is located in the West Germany!

Quote common on light railways in Germany during the 1920ies. No moving parts = cheaper and labour force to remove it when the otheer track should be used was cheap too.

Sanding at 2.55 seems they used sand for traction for a long time Why? Track is invisible! That's why😉😂

Олег Харченко В UK эта инструкция мертва, все что осталось это в северной Германии, южной Франции, Прибалтики и так куски в СНГ. Вот и собственно всё. А смех это зря, торф кроме как на узкоколейной доставить не начнём, развес не тот.
