My mom was very manipulative like this, she once boxed up some of my things and threatened to drop me off at the police department because I told her I disagreed with some of her decisions regarding her divorce at the time. Once you hit 18 years of age you are legally a adult let's start there. Now with that being said once you are a adult you gain adult rights just like the officer stated "He still has a 4th amendment right to search and seizure because he is now a adult. Your time for parenting is over" while the officer was out of line with the last part of that the beginning part is legally true. You want to kick out your son that doesn't want to leave? Now with that being said once you are a adult you gain adult rights just like the officer stated "He still has a 4th amendment right to search and seizure because he is now a adult. And let's be real here. In MOST domestic violence cases the son didn't have to press charges. If he withdrew his desire to prosecute the state can and most of the time chooses to press charges anyway thanks to Jennifer's law. So you can sit there and wish till ya die he drops the charges but won't do a thing for the man.
Now where I think this went wrong as a family? Mom seems well off. Let's face it she has 4 vehicles, 2 houses rented, etc... mom is by all means well established. Mom however seems like a Drill Sargent parent. Meaning it's her way or the highway now. Probably wasn't the case before however. Before she probably was spoiling the shit out of her son until he got to this age to attempt to get him ready to be a adult. Obviously back fired like hell but she did switch her parenting to a DS style and this is where we are.
Down the road this is gonna cause a ton of family therapy to fix if either one of them actually want the other in their lives.
But as for immediate. Well mom just gifted son a vehicle before being taken to jail by her own admission. Kiddo has a month to get a job and place. Or put the landlord through the steps mom already ignored to do. If he chooses the more probable(no work no fucks given) kid is homeless and now in a ton of debt.

It's always funny to me when a parent thinks they can treat their child like trash just because they gave birth to them. You don't own someone for taking care of them when they're sick. That's what a good parent is supposed to do. The act of giving birth to a human being comes with responsibilities. Those are your legal duties as a parent. They aren't favors you can hold over your kids head to gain sympathy or get your way.
