I like how you unhook the fish without touching it, keeping the net in the water before letting them swim out. Catch and release. You are a true sportsman!
@@SuperDuperOutdoors can’t help it man. You got us (Kevin) addicted to this!!!! lol love your videos brother and I know I’ve said this before but it’s really awesome to have you back.
Thanks Man! Every time I go to Reno, I'm like man i need my poles! So a solo trip was needed. There are hella spots bro...Look on google maps. Every single park...Don't forget to get your NV license.
I ment Mc Swain lake from last commit, it's the lower lake from Ms Clure and before Mc Swain lake is Merced river by the back face below the same is great for brook and rainbow trout, so there's the river, and two days to fish off the same road
I have...lol fished by that point by the ramp. Then moved by the ramp because I wasn't about to get skunked..Old Filipino dude was chucking 1 ounce cast masters and was getting brown lunkers of the point....Man, it was like Quarry Lakes but instead of jigs, they were using Trout Crack...I got a few on the spoons but it wasn't really my kind of fishing. I got the scoop on the lake and will go back. The river looked juicy but I was so burnt and it was a day trip. The lake look rad tho. I'll go back and camp with the family and bring my yak.
I have seen some 'trout' like at 6:42 with the vertical splotches. Near as I can learn these are sterile hybrid trout which cannot cross breed with native trout but grow faster and are more hardy. The ones I have caught and eaten were bony as all get out....I have not determined which hatchery produces these.
Some say a hybrid and some say Cutthroat... I don't eat the tout but the locals told me not to eat the trout in town as it's "urban" and theres alot of homeless. When I do, I usually eat Lassens.
They are 100% planted Lahonton Cutthroat. Those vertical splotches are called Par marks. But some you got were rainbows. All young trout have par marks
Do you think the water is frozen around that area in January? Wanting to do a 2-3 day fishing trip with the wife for my birthday. Was thinking heading to Reno or getting a cabin at convict lake. If you have any suggestions I’d highly appreciate it.
I've been there in January and no its not frozen. You can see the river from the street. Never been to Convict in January. I think you have to go by way of Reno cuz the passes are closed. All sounds cold to me..lol...Reno has tons of options. There are lakes and streams in taheo too...never been. Convict is pretty secluded. Mammonth is close by. But Reno has everthing. That's a tough one....
@@SuperDuperOutdoors appreciate the info. Sounds like im gonna stay away from convict lake forsure lol. Think I’m going to do the Reno route. Those videos of you going to different parks looks like something my wife and I can enjoy. If all else fails I’ll eat my sorrows away at the buffet lol.
Fish Rock park. Its a good bet. Reno has changed. They put alot of money in the city. Try Virgina street mid town is super hipster. Good eaters and pubs. New construction. Its nice. They were building a new complex on the southern end of Virginia. Go check out Serria Outfitters. Great deals on outdoor gear. Can you tell I've spent time there. We will relocate to Nevada one day. Reno is my choice.
I grew up fishing that river back in the 60s. Great memories.

Thank you. Im not perfect but I have learned and I try.
Lahontan's are planted in there. The Pilot Creek Lahontan's will start appearing in Reno area in a few years. Think 30 pounds in deep water.
You can catch big ones downtown and just West or East of downtown.
It’s a hybrid trout!! That you caught the first time
I thought so..the others looked like cutties
Nice job on the urban trout hunt.👍🎣👊
Thanks bro. I never made it out of Reno. There were so much fish. Lol. Stay tuned for the afternoon session.

Do you need a permit anywhere you went featured in this video? My fiancé and I are new to the area.. haven’t had any luck yet
I have a Nevada fishing license. I think thats all I needed. I didn't read or see any posted fees. Gotta hunt them down...
