Fenwick rods 1 gen tundra and not a fly fishing video...4 stars man!! I gotta good buddy that lives in reno we grew up in mt together I need to get down and get one of these Cutts. Great video sir.
Are they all hatchery or is there some natural reproduction in the truckee? Still never seen a lahontan in the truckee but ive heard rumors there's a few in there
That is a great question, I do not have all the details on that situation, and I assume it will forever be changing. There are up river plants going on, plus all the upper lakes receiving them. Difficult to know where the fish can all make it to with the difficult agricultural boundaries.
They spawn at the hatchery spillway at the lake…. Few years ago I found a dead 20+ cutthroat near downtown Reno. They definitely make it all the way into town. I’ll post a pic of it on my instagram..
Nice video, but I tend to be most productive with spoons from Sierra Lure. Bleeding Frog in several colors. White or Green seem to be the most productive. White when it's stormy. 7/8 ounce is the best size for shore fishing.
Most people are aware of spoons, they are effective, and most fishermen are well informed for spoon fishing. I just wanted to show a few other tactics that are also incredibly effective. The Jig bite is my favorite, I like the way you can reely slow down the presentation when the fish are lethargic and fish a more sensitive rod. Good luck to you this season!
@@BlakeMarshallPiscesOutdoors I just thought I would share what spoons work at Pyramid. I have also caught fish at Pyramid with the Maribu Jig. Thanks for the advice!
Thank you for asking. I tend to lean on research even went I have fished areas for decades, I study every inch of maps, and satalite images, and charts, anything I can find to locate places that I think will produce. For the Three days prior to the trip, I watch weather particularly wind forecast to see what the effects are there. It is a guessing game, but I will try and pick my first, second, and third best options for fishing. If you have any specific questions, feel free to ask. Good Luck
I use those lures very effectively from the boat, see some guys casting them from shore, anything that mimics a minnow should catch. Great luck to you on the water!
Yes, they taste great! There is a slot limit, so be sure you keep legal fish, and I would probably steer clear of the fish over 10lbs. Check out this video my homie made wantons out of them, it was incredible. He also cooked fillets with verde salsa, it was excellent Here is the link: ruclips.net/video/WUwyLR_VzmY/видео.html
That is correct, no barbs, I have plenty of lures that have not been fished, those are what I am showing on the camera, I fish many areas, so I only pinch the barbs of lures that I am using at the time of fishing, majority of my boxes are stilled barbed because they have not been fished. Best of luck on the water!
I fly fish it often, but I don't narrow my field to only catch one way. I will catch fish on every method possible. Good luck out there, fly fishing for these cutties sure is enjoyable.
Really your gonna be that guy!??? All I do is fly fish, doesn’t matter what gear you prefer it’s all about being out there and having fun…get off your high horse brother… This was a great video regardless, keep up the good work!!!
Thank you, my goal is always to show fishing as a positive and rewarding activity. I love and support all methods; everyone has their own favorite way. If you want to promote the sport you have to be willing to deal with some salty individuals, I get along with most salty folks, not all... Great luck to you on the water!@@Fatheadflyfishing
Thank you for making a video on Pyramid that isn't about fly fishing. Excellent video.
Awesome! I hope you catch some beasts! Can't wait to get back out myself.
If you’re not fly fishing you’re basically still an 8 year old 😅
@@schwaggybammer968 people like you ruin fishing for beginners. Let people enjoy the sport without judgement please.

I am going to check out that picture, it is a great questions regarding how much natural spawn is effective, or is it all hatchery@@mainlyfishing4599

Back at ya buddy 🤙
First time for everything....how much research should be done before heading up to Pyramid for the first time? Thank you...

@@BlakeMarshallPiscesOutdoors had'nt thought about that.. my bad.. Pyramid is one of my "bucket list" lakes.
Thanks for replying.. happy ventures!!
Pyramid lake fishing really sucks…
It can be a very difficult lake on the wrong days with the wrong tactics. Sorry you have poor experiences
youre so lame for not fly fishing it
