    Yep - it was an absolutely awesome trip! And Haifoss was the cherry on the cake - a place I had always wanted to visit. Thanks for leading the way, Brendan! (And if I weren't teaching, for sure i'd be joining you this Winter.) Till next time.

    I think the view from the cave photo, is fantastic. I then researched "Sneaker Waves" wow. The falls, very cool.

    Haifoss... I can still feel the wind cutting through the clothes and freezing my bones. Definitely an epic location!

    Follow Greg and now I’m following yourself Brendan 😉 returning to Iceland next August 2023 with my daughter, going 4x4 to Westfjords and Highlands (F35) Haifoss is on day 3 of our itinerary so your piece on that location was great, can’t wait to photograph the falls there, they certainly do look epic. Staying in Vik for two nights so will be getting images of the black sand beach and sea stacks from both sides (only got images from Dyrhoaley last year) Have heeded all the warnings and will stay safe I can assure you but I did love the image you got from the cave there, I won’t try to recreate it though unless the tide is way out 👍 Yoda cave is on our list too, great Vlog 👌

    Love those 'sneaker' waves warning signs at Reynisdrangar, but they're absolutely right having them there. Was 20+mph constant wind when I visited and with the fine rain and misty spray you could barely see the stacks.

    I could only dream. I don't think I could ever afford a workshop like this in Iceland. A quick calculation puts me close to $10k Canadian for this trip. Good for all those who can afford this experience...yes I'm jealous! Well, there's always the park down the road from my home.

    Great images! I live in a place where sneaker waves are a common occurrence too and people die all the time from getting pulled into the cold water. Don’t turn your back to the ocean!

      It's scary stuff. I struggle with this beach, because I see tourists do dangerous things all the time and have no idea that it's dangerous. It's stressful.
      But, it is a photogenic place! As most places with wild weather tend to be.

    We were at the beach all day and I thought I could predict the waves, then as we came out of the cave a huge sneaker wave came and almost knocked us off our feet. It was one of the scariest moments ive ever had. Be careful out there.

  • @AliasJimWirth

    It is a sad shame that people do not listen to emphatic warnings about places and things. Do they think that they are somehow immune to the danger? I have not idea, but I gotta ask.

  • @DedicationPhotography
    @DedicationPhotography Год назад

    Not too sure about that standing in the wave shot there mate. Nice shot, but yeah... Kind of giving the wrong example here? You even showed the sign on the beach and you say you've been to Reynisfjara so many times? I really don't see the need for doing this? There's people out there that "think they know what they are doing" and we all know what happens to those who end up finding out they are not...
    Great video otherwise, Haifoss is beautiful! I really liked your shots from there.

    • @BrendanvanSon
      @BrendanvanSon  Год назад +1

      I think the photo shows it to be more wild than it is (Where I was standing). We were at the tides way down and this was where the water was barely creeping past my feet at its peak.
      The point I was trying to make was "don't do this. Don't use my image and try to replicate it." Because so many people don't understand the conditions and see an image from someone like me and try to re-create it.
      What I did wasn't dangerous as at. But, for someone else who didn't know/understand the conditions, it could have been.

    • @DedicationPhotography
      @DedicationPhotography Год назад

      @@BrendanvanSon it doesn’t matter if it wasn’t wild that day or not. You don’t go near the waves. That is the way to tell and show “don’t do this” its called a sneaker wave for a reason. Even on a calm day like you had. They happen. Its unpredictable. No need to show with a nice photo (it is nice actually!) how it looks when you get close. Give the right example and follow the rules, simple. Don’t go near the waves. Anyways, enough rant. Good video otherwise and looking forward to see your Greenland content!

    • @BrendanvanSon
      @BrendanvanSon  Год назад +2

      I understand your point.
      I think what maybe is missing is that I'm not "near the waves". I'm actually WAY up on the beach where the waves only on the rarest occasion gently roll up in foam. Where I was standing for that photo is just as safe as nearly anywhere on the beach.
      So well I agree on your point entirely (even if you think where I was was still too close), I fully believe where I was standing was far from the danger zone.
      Totally ok to challenge me on that, by the way. I'm totally open to being wrong hahaha.
      Cheers!
