- Photographers miss great photos all the time. But, this time it was 100% due to being lazy. To get the photo, you need to be out of the car.

I think you're in your element when you are traveling to foreign places (even if it's the 10th time). This is the Brendan I started following. Love this stuff you do. Thank you.
Yeah, I'm definitely more inspired by new
Interesting to see your take from the future. You were missed that morning for sure but still its a grind leading multiple days as we know. Advice is on point though... the best photos are sometimes the least expected. You just have to be there 👍 Until next time buddy 🇮🇸
Great shots! Always love the stories at the end. Sorry you missed the shot of the Lupins, maybe next time.
Thank you Joy!
Great advice. Just get out and take photos.
Always!
I just edited a batch of bird photos from a local park. When I took them, I remember thinking, why did I even bother. Then I opened them in Lightroom and while a lot were trash, a good number are like, WOW. I couldn't even see how good they might be in the viewfinder. Moral: the photo not taken is the one you'll regret the most.
Yeah, totally agree. Can't tell you how many times that has happened to me. Never judge until you see them in Lightroom. Haha
I can totally relate, buddy! 🙂
Brendan, I know how you feel man. I struggled with my knee to get to the lupins with Greg and some of the others. The captures I did were epic and beautiful for me. I cried for minutes I could not believe the beauty that was unfolding in front of us with the light. I thank you once again for a trip of a lifetime. From my ❤ thank you and Merry Christmas to you and Jodi. Thank You!!
Merry Christmas buddy, hope you and the family are keeping warm this winter! :D
@@BrendanvanSon yes it’s getting colder and snowing every day this week. Go figure…lol thank god for snowblowers…hahahaha.❄️☃️🎅🎄👍👍
Damn that light ahah It happens and it wont be the last time you go there and it wont be the last time you fail, happens to everyone!
After 10 days of a REALLY intense road-trip through the West of the US we arrived at Page, Arizona. We took our rented kayak, paddled to Antelope Canyon, forgot to eat something, went down the Canyon...and when we finally arrived at the narrow parts of the canyon we went back to finally eat, take a shower and take a pre-Horshoe-Bend-at-sunset-nap.
Been in the really beautiful part of the canyon for less than five minutes, didn't really search for a composition in that time...and feel like smacking my lazy derrière for it ever since.
It happens. It's a good excuse to go back!
I have the perfect solution! You could always clone yourself. You can basically stay in the car and take a nap while Clone Brendan goes out and takes all the photos! On a more serious note, sometimes you just have to push yourself and just take a photo even if you think it may not be the best at first. It may turn out to be a masterpiece! Luckily there is always next time!
Perfect lol
We have a saying, 'you're not going to win weather photographer of the year sitting in the house' (car, van insert as appropriate)
Unless you get a really good photo of the dash.
I know the feeling. Like you I could not see there being a great image so did not go to the lupins and as you say the images that came back from those that went showed I made the wrong decision.
we failed together, buddy. haha
Alright I have to ask I recently starting shooting with a square filter system and I cannot manage to swap filters without getting some stray fingerprints here and there. Is there a secret trick to it ?
Nope. Haha. I wish there was a secret, but there's not. You just have to try best to push out of the holder from the corners and wish for the best.
@@BrendanvanSon haha fair enough thanks!
Have you upgrade to the Canon R6 yet ?
Nope. Hoping to be able to afford an r6ii in 2023 though!
@@BrendanvanSon Thank you I really appreciate your videos because you made Photography simple to understand share your knowledge I have a Canon R and I really love it one day I may upgrade to the canon R6 or R6 MK II
I would think it would be very difficult to get quality sleep with all that daylight plus sleeping on the ground. After 3 days, I would need a dark room with a comfy mattress for about 24 straight hours. Not an excuse, just reality.
Honestly, I slept ok for the hours I was asleep. But we were just so full on for the 2 weeks that we were only sleeping 5-6 hours a night.
Taking photos should be fun, if your not enjoying it then stop. Tomorrow is another day..
Yeah. I mean, I was having fun. I was just being jaded haha
