    Use a 90hz phone for a day. Then Check again. That's when you feel a difference. Give some time to your eyes to adapt 90hz once it's done you will see a difference between 90hz and 60hz
    EDIT: FOR EVERYONE WHO SAYS THAT THEY DON'T SEE A DIFFERENCE, TRY WITH 120, 144HZ PHONES, IF YOU CAN. 60 vs 90 is not a magic change, it's subtle.

    @dogukancil5128 4 года назад +22

    You miss the point of a 90hz display, I guess. Microsoft has demonstrated years ago that touch latency is a big factor in usability and the natural feel of a touch screen. You need something less than 10ms for it feel like paint coming off your fingers as you touch the display. But a 60hz display, refreshes 60 times a second. That's once every 16.67ms. So, no matter how fast you make the touch input, your display won't be able to show anything less than 16.67ms, even though the touchscreen registers it. A 90 hz display refreshes every 11.1ms, so that's closer to the mark. So, you would feel an obvious difference primarily in fast swipes and drawing, not daily use.

      One quick question to that: it doesn't make a noticeable difference in the normal use of a phone, say social media, movies and surfing in the web?
      I am about to buy the iPhone 12, but as they failed to implement the 120 Hz display (If I recall correctly they tried it but there were some issues they couldn't fix in time so they got rid of it again) I am cautious about the idea that the next iPhone is gonna have 120 Hz, and it's gonna make all the difference in the world or not lol.

    • @dogukancil5128
      @dogukancil5128 3 года назад

      @@abhisheksharma07 The touch response rate is, in practice, limited by the screen's refresh rate, even if you make it higher than that your display won't be able to react as fast. Screen's refresh rate is the bottleneck to the touch response rate. So, yes, they are different but also related.

    Calling this a psychology experiment you introduced bias in that the participants were on guard to see if there was actually something different between the phones or not. You prob could've skewed your data either way. You would have been better off asking them if one phone screen was faster than the other. People won't necessarily understand "speed" meaning hz in this scenario. Then have a control group with 2 phones at the same refresh rate. This is in no way conclusive to if the general public can decipher a difference.you don't want to know can people identify a difference. You want to know can people tell the difference between 60hz and 90hz

    • @NalinKhurb
      @NalinKhurb 4 года назад +6

      You can call this experiment flawed and call it a day BUT it doesn't negate the fact that none of these individuals could point out the difference and only a few could after being specifically told what to look for.
      Even in the comments section, people mention that with their 90hz displays, they are unable to notice any difference unless they switch back to another phone after a long period of time.
      According to these points, it seems that despite it's shortcomings, the results are not that far from the truth.
      Another possibility could well be that not all individuals have the ability to perceive such kind of speed differences. Only a few with very acute vision and perceptive abilities might notice it right of the bat, and those are few in number. This then brings us to the actual utility of these high refresh rate display's, which is not much really.

    You will see the difference when you play high quality game. You can than tell that how much smoother 90Hz display is.

    They must be told what to look for. Phones have tons of features. Its misleading not to lead them in a direction at first.

    90Hz looks super smooth and the UI seem to work faster. I recommend seeing it by yourself in some store, for some people it might be unnecessary.

    Answer is yes, i have an OnePlus 7 pro and i wanted to change to iphone because i like ios more but i couldn't, just because 60 hrtz looks slippy to me and everytime i work with 60 hrtz i just think about what if it was 90 hrtz. But if you never worked with 90 hrtz you'll be fine

    Next time you do this have them scroll through Instagram, facebook, or settings apps. Maybe have them read book or play a game. RUclips plays videos at 30fps, and slowly looking for differences between phone means a lot of idol time while looking for differences. The 90hz refresh does not affect app loading speed or the speed of the phone, so they just wasted their time looking for other things. Maybe ask them which one feels more responsive while scrolling through social media.

    You should have told them to scroll through apps. A set of apps that they have to try. Then, they would definitely see the smoother scrolling.

    I don't get how people can say that once using 90hz, you can't go back to 60 anymore, I mean, movies are 24 fps, most console games are 30 fps. Does that mean that you can't watch movies or play games on Switch or PS4 anymore ?

    I can tell simply because I've been a PC user (builder) for 10+ years and know all about screen refresh rates and I feel as if my vision is well adapted to what to look for. Just got my first 90hz phone and definitely notice a smoother experience when gaming on the phone or other things simply browsing the UI.

    Good one. I also watched a phone of friend of mine with 90hz and he was super excited about this display. To be honest I did not see any difference between mine phone 60hz and his 90hz. Which is strange to me because when comparing the TV with 60 and 100hz I can really see the difference. I do not get it what is the case with these smartphone 90hz.
