    You can see based on this video that Frank won’t shut up about Dawn Robinson... Annoying when someone like him can’t keep Dawn out of his mouth and like she said, she’s moved on

      Donald, I feel you and I feel Dawn but at some point you have to figure out a new approach. its like working a job and constantly getting fired for "standing up for yourself." At some point you have to figure out a way to do it more effectively so you can put food in your mouth, a roof over your head and clothes on your back.

      I'm reminded of a journal entry by the Intellabeam operator on En Vogue's 1992 Funky Divas tour. In it, he recalls an incident where Dawn had gotten hung up during a costume change backstage in between sets and was so late getting to the top of the stairs for her entrance that she'd refused to go out when the curtain was opened for her. smh #diva

      I bet he got more money than they did.. I bet you he did. Their first album so 5 million copies worldwide that equal up between 30 to 50 million dollars. Now that's without touring.
      What I don't understand is that why are wasn't these ladies giving at least 12 to 15 million dollars out of $50 million dollars to split.

      So in the 90s this argument (and the conflict of interest one with Rhone) is a strong one. But no matter what changes (record label, managers, producers, group membership), Dawn and to a lesser extent Max always had issues with something or everything. It impacted their work with other groups, and even groups they tried to form with each other. That says to me that there’s a lot more going on than (justifiably) fighting the powers that be for fairer contracts. Meanwhile, Terry, Cindy and Rhona have been steady, and the only thing they wouldn’t compromise on for the 30th anniversary reunion (as Dawn has said) is having Rhona be asked to step aside again because they felt it wouldn’t be fair. And I respect them for that. I live in hope we get a reunion with all 5. And maybe they sing the material they originally recorded as a starting point. Or something. Because I adore all of them.

    My disappointment with the original ladies not being together ASIDE...Obviously, the ladies had different sounds, looks, ideas and longterm visions for themselves. Dawn was the baby with more sass, bite, urban, and in my opinion PUNK. Ego aside also, Dawn was the one that had more edge and nerve to go solo. Terry was too conservative for where the music industry inevitably went. THIS IS NO SHADE TO TERRY. Unfortunately, we don't know the details of the business side to them, but it APPEARED that the label gave the solo opportunity to Terry. Dawn then joined Lucy Pearl, etc and had more success than Terry. SO WHAT?!! now the ladies tried to mend issues and came back for a reunion, reality tv pilot, performances, etc and Dawn was gone AGAIN. Max followed shortly after. All to do with the business/contracts. Look, as I see it...Terry, Cindy and Max were quite happy with whatever deal they had. Dawn believed they deserved MORE. I agree with Dawn here. this was the perfect time to 'rock the boat' and direct their managment to FIGHT FOR THEM. because around the same time, the female singers were also realizing the shit contracts they all had i.e. Toni Braxton who eventually forced to go bankrupt, Faith Evans with bad boy, Lauryn Hill, etc. The NEW leverage was sing, write and perform with endorsement deals, etc en vogue was ALREADY doing but never got the back-end benefits to any of it. This is what I felt Dawn was coming from. Unfortunately, she wasn't taken seriously, looked like a troublemaker and it also appeared as if she kept leaving the rest of the ladies in the lurch to pick up all the pieces and RENEGOCIATE the business (time-consuming and costly) ever time. Interesting relationships. We need to see this on tv and in our homes. They have the power to teach the world how to respect each other's differences in a group, navigate as powerful individuals women in the world, mothers, entertainment businesswomen, adapt, reconcile, mend relationships, forgive, renew, and ALL five can support each other in and outside the en vogue world. they have the track record on how to maintain class, sophistication, mass appeal, etc under all the good, the bad and the ugly circumstances.. Love them all.

  • @MartellLacey

    Get what money? That's why Dawn left the group in the first place, and I don't blame her. They were taken advantage of, the money was not distributed equally. As successful as they where with all four original members they didn't even have a million dollars collectively. And the caliber of group they were, you think that's fair? I'd have an attitude as well. Selling all those recorders and being broke? I'd quite too.... So big ups to Dawn for getting out of a bad situation....

    Frank Gatson is the biggest DIVA and Dawn is not one to take any mess from anyone, that's just the way she is. Frank thinks he can talk to people any kind of way and that's why they butted heads . Pay attention people , This is why the originals cant get along now because of people like Frank on the outside trying to control the group. They had people in their ears pitting them against each other , prime example Frank. He sat there and tried to make it out that Dawn and Max are the problems when they all made mistakes.

    I'm with this guy. I've been posting this on every EnVogue video I watch. Its time to let all of that other shit go and get back together for their fans and to GET PAID. They don't have to love each other like sisters. They need to respect each other like adults and get that dough so they can stack up a nice chunk of money to retire with. No matter how these ladies are getting along they forget all of that shit when they hit the stage and perform their asses off because their chemistry is fire and they love what they do. Its time to give the people what they want. We've been dealing with the immature bullshit long enough.

    At this point, I won't hold my breath on them ever getting back together. I'd just settle for them all getting along. If you look at old videos and interviews of them, they were pretty close. (Which can happen when you spend so much time together) I still remember the SNL performance of "Free Your Mind." At the end, Dawn leaned over and rested her head on Terry's shoulder while hugging her, and Terry put her hand on Dawn's face. Little moments like that, stick out to me when I see how they interact now. Honestly, I would just love for them to get along to make a biopic like New Edition did. THAT would be some tea!

    • @mchristiangarland
      @mchristiangarland 7 лет назад

      They did do a pseudo-biopic on Lifetime in 2014 called "An En Vogue Christmas". David Alan Grier was in it. They completely erased Dawn and Max from their narrative. www.imdb.com/title/tt3922320/

      I saw it. It wasn't a bad movie, especially considering it was just a Lifetime movie. But the movie was nothing like their real in-house drama. They weren't mad at each other in the movie, they were mad at somebody else. In real life, you'd be hard-pressed to find them getting along with each other ever. lol.

    I guess one could say it just a matter of the individual perspective in terms of each members see the group growing or what direction they should go. Let's face in among family and I am talking about sibling everyone has their own spin how somethings should be. EnVogue is not first group that has had their differences and they won't be the last. Here are some names of groups that have their differences. The Beatles, The Supremes,The Temptations, The Pointer sisters,The Commadores,Chicago,The Eagles, Earth Wind and Fire.Kool and The Gang, New Editions,and Boys II Men and etc.

    I agree with what he's saying. Dawn must have the biggest ego and stubborn as hell. Plus she's still talking about what happened and the kind of money she didn't get 20 years ago when she could be making now. She's mostly to blame for her situation back then. She admitted herself that she didn't understand certain things in contracts. Why not hire her own lawyer and have them explain the things she didn't understand or the fine print. And I don't understand her logic at trying to be a new solo artist at her age instead of staying with EnVogue, a group that's already established. Anyway, Thanks Cindy, Terry and Rhona for keeping EnVogue alive.

    As a die-hard En Vogue fan since 1990 it hurts my heart to not have the original 4 still touring. It irritates me as an EV Fanatic to not see the quartet silhouette when they are on stage with the signature title floating above them. To me, part of EV's magic was the 4-part harmony. Although it is still them (mostly) you can hear the difference in the sound. Since they are at the point of irreconcilable differences, I think a fair compromise that the Divas could make with us Fanatics is to hire a 4th singer to do Dawn's vocals. Rhona's vocals are similar to Max's so we need a new "Dawn". I recommend Holly Robinson-Peete to do Dawn's part. If you are an EV fan, you know that Holly and Terry are BFF's. If you know about Holly, she is also a singer but never went that route. She did sing the themes songs to 21 Jumpstreet and Hangin' with Mr. Cooper (season 1) with En Vogue. She has the same range as Dawn and strangely shares the same name. I feel that this would be more satisfying to see and hear. When I see the trio it always feels like someone is missing, the songs were written for 4-part harmony. I also think that doing this would honor the hard work that Rhona put in for all of these years. I respect how she has handled the situation all of these years. And since she has been with the group for over a decade I do feel that she is part of EV. If Dawn and Max came back she would get the boot like she did those couple of times in the past. I would feel bad for her because despite the bitter history, she showed up and did her thing. In conclusion of this fanatical comment, a new EV Quartet would be bittersweet but (IMO) better than the trio. For those of you that are into symbolism , "The Power of Three" does not apply to EV the way it did for Destiny's Child. EV as a trio is like the show "Charmed" whereas EV as a quartet is like the movie "The Craft". Personally, I liked the movie better. That was Cheesy and silly, I know. :) Hey it's art and we love these girls. :)

    • @ceeceetracey9839
      @ceeceetracey9839 Год назад

      I've recently started thinking the same thing. That they need to get a fourth member with a similar sound to Dawn's. I saw a clip on here where June's Diary was a part of their performance, doing some choreography behind them and some light background vocals and it was amazing. It hit me then - damn, maybe they need a fourth member to lighten up the load.

    Give it up Dawn Robinson and free your mind. All your interviews you are telling your version of why En Vogue split up. Sadly..We just lost Mary Wilson one the original members of the Supremes who has spent over fifty years consumed with resentment toward Berry Gordy & Diana Ross and her version on the demise of the Supremes. Tragically what good did it do to let her pride and bruised ego prevent her from getting together with Berry & Diana to dissolve their differences. The truth be known Diana Ross was destined to become a world superstar entertainer who paved the way for other Black singers like Beyoncé to reach that pinnacle of success and superstardom.
    Dawn never mentions in her interviews that in the court case a judge awarded Terry and Cindy total ownership of the En Vogue franchise and not to Dawn or Maxine. Stop trying to blame Terry, Cindy, Raphael and Sylvia for your failure that to succeed with En Vogue and Lucy Pearl. You’re 54 years old and have jump started your solo career in the last decades. Don’t let Mary Wilson’s futile journey of resentment be your story too if it’s not too late! Wasted talent is just that..”wasted!”

      @@ANDY1985UK2011 EnVogue was a rare and talented group where each girl could sing lead. Dawn always boasts of speaking her mind but then suffering the consequences of her actions. I’m sure she felt her protests were valid but each time where did it get her. I saw a recent interview last month of hers where she wore green lipstick that looked sweared. She was babbling through the interview as if she was lost. Then she started to criticize the COVID-19 precautions of wearing protective masks stating Black didn’t need to wear them implying Black people survive without the masks. She further stated that people inhale other people’s carbon monoxide. The interview was speechless and failed to correct her on what carbon monoxide gas really is. At that point the interview was tanking quickly and ended. It appears Dawn Robinson has some mental issues.
