40th Anniversary Proto Glow DX Aviar
The Aviar was approved by the PDGA for competition in 1984. It set the standard for what a putter should be and influenced putter design everywhere. 40 years later, Innova is celebrating this quintessential mold by pairing the iconic disc with a new plastic innovation. Proto Glow DX, our brightest DX yet, is here. 40th Anniversary Proto Glow DX Aviars begin shipping the week of January 22, 2024.
40th Anniversary Proto Glow Champion XD
Later in 1984, Dave and Innova modified the already successful disc design of the Aviar, looking to add some extra distance (hence the name). The XD and a new class of farther-flying discs was born. For the anniversary of Innova’s fourth mold to market, we have again taken what works and improved it. Proto Glow Champion plastic has the durability and stability of our original Glow Champ, with significantly brighter and longer-lasting shine. Proto Glow Champion XDs commemorate 40 years of a classic disc along with the start of a new era for Innova’s glow.
Both discs are available for dealer orders while supplies last.

I was into my first disc golf when these came out...I forgot all about the XD. It was such a fabulous bonus when it came out, I used to bag one along with Lightning discs and a P.D.G.A. approved Whamo putter called a "Softie"
The XD is a really cool disc. One of the first discs I bought was a DX XD. It's pretty seasoned in now but i still have affection for it.

I love you innova, but y’all’s glow game has a longgggggg way to go to be anywhere close to how good MVP’s is.
I think what they're trying to do is change that, and the glow they've shown is improved greatly for this plastic. How it stacks up to the others remains to be seen, and we need to see how the new glow plastic does in a year to see if it holds up.
This new proto glow plastic is better than MVP’s. It retains glow for literal hours. I was shocked by how good it is especially when compared to their old glow plastic.

total eclipse 2.0 envy is the only MVP glow i've been impressed with so far. my glowzotl is so insanely dull.
Innova glow plastic is vastly inferior to other options. Lasts longer than their previous glow is meaningless as the innova glow does not even last the full flight. The innova glow plastic also fades over time rapidly. It looks nice and bright at first, but the maximum luminosity declines rapidly.
With so many superior glow discs i would hold off on any innova plastic until I see how it performs after a year. Easy to do because the innova glow plastic is the most commonly lost plastic so easy to find.
Simply said I dont believe the claims of a superior product based on the long history of an inferior glow plastic from innova.
I guess the have a new recipe which will be like other brands. But it still seems to be a baseline plastic and those usually glow worse than premium (i habe a bt glow harp)
@jaym6945 I don't believe the new plastic is on par with the alternatives. MVP and kastaplasty have far superior products and the luminosity lasts years
4 year old kastalpast vastly outperforms any new innova glow products. The glow harp is slightly better than innova.
I would suggest you actually try the new innova proto glow plastic before speaking on it out of ignorance. It feels much better in hand than their previous glow plastic and retains glow for hours. Definitely worth trying and not just immediately dismissing entirely.
@Snap-Time I am willing to judge it once I see how it performs after at least a year. I will not buy one to try for myself based on the historically low quality. Also, I know all too well Injova glow plastic looks great at first, it detoriorates rapidly however. I have compared Innova to several alternatives such as MVP and Kastaplaet. So my prejudice is absolutely not baseless nor ignorant, it is based on innova poor track record.
Fell free to let me know how you feel after a year, but as it is you are speaking from ignorance, specifically ignoring innova historically low quality and you can not tell me how it performs over time.
Again come back when you have evidence. I throw a ton of innova including both these molds, just not the glow.
