This is my daily driver for 6 years. I bought it as a college car and it started my whole car crazy passion! It was a one owner with 71k miles and no accidents. I bought it from Norwood Park, IL, so it was a city car. After this Civic, I've owned 14 other Civics, and 4 Integra's for a total of 19 Honda's!
Featured are some before and after photos, and photos I've collected over the years. I've been adding different parts to it throughout the 6 years and doing some maintenance to the car which is all shown in the video. I tried to get as many Si pieces as I can. It's been a good daily to me over the 6 years and 52k miles. But it was time to move onto something more modern, so I sold it to the 3rd college student in a row. It was sold locally to Schaumburg, IL a town over to me, so it will always be close by. :)

8-10-2020.....Just bought a '99 Civic EX 2D two days ago. Unseen. Undriven. But mint. 110k, all original; no mods. Pick it up in a week; can't wait. And I'm 64.
Congrats those are the best ones and have fun with it! Funny you say that I found a MINT white coupe in a gym parking lot tonight and literally the front end had brand new headlights car must of came out of some storage it was so clean. Because you don’t see these in that condition on the road anymore.

I got basically the same but I have a 05 civic ex special edition it’s the coupe but comes with the wing factory and actual rims not hub caps and a better engine d17a2 vs 01 civic has a d17a1

i have had in the nederlands like 3 eks. one 1.4 ek black stock ( from my father) with wolfrace rims 15 inch and a 99 pre facelift red one 1.5 vtec e. And now i got a black ek3 1,5 vtec e 99 facelift rare 2 years made with same rims as the one from my father and wolfrace rims. The only thing is stock!exept the wheels, and im thinking to putting in a Honda radio and stock rims 14 inch. Alot of honda people cant believe there eyes when they see the car in stock form still and wan tto buy it. but it starts drives good and makes me happy so im never gonna sell it
I always watch this for motivation. Iv had a 99’ Civic EX for a year now. Picked it up with only 98k on it. Currently have 104k miles. I want to do all of these upgrades! So clean. Civics are the best!

Man cars are truly a blessing, I think what got most people sad at the end was seeing all the adventures and the journey you had fixing the car! Dope car !

Do your periodic washes and the body will survive just fine even in harsh winters and salt.
Lukasz P here in Michigan it snows a LOT so they dump loads of salt on the road. People here wash and wash and wash, sometimes multiple times a day, and the red cancer still shows up. But then again this isn't your only car.
Lol that's death to a car. There's other factors that go into it as well.. if you garage it, or if you store it in damp conditions. This car stood in the crowded streets of Chicago before I got it. So it was by no means babied and still had no rust. Some are just more lucky then others I guess.

I got a 2000 Civic EX Coupe about 2 months ago. I love it to death. It's my first car and stick shift, but it was so easy to learn on. I'm working on restoring it as it's been through a lot and has a bit of rust and an oil leak :( I'm planning on keeping it for a long time!
where is the oil leak? i got the same thing

@@dexter7s847 if it's high mileage, try like all the common stuff...valve cover gasket, oil pan gasket, distributor O ring, etc. It's a lot of fun 🗿

Cool retrospective and some tasteful upgrades without going overboard.
I've had mine for almost 5 years now & still love it! The little D16Y8 is a little gutless, but it has power for a daily driver and highway driving. It's also really comfortable to drive and has lots of room, despite how small the car looks

I am extremely shook by the fact that you were able to find such clean hondas that are stock with no rust and in Illinois, Chicago is full of rice buckets and nothing but overpriced junks falling apart without heater or ac at times. I will admit though I do drive a junk civic but ik for a fact that it is not worth over $400
Engine and trans are probably worth that alone. You just don't know enough about cars to keep them 💯

Thank you for sharing your experience, inspires me to clean up my Honda and keep it for a long time. So far I've had over 10 different Honda's in the passed two years and the civic I have now is reliable but poorly maintained by previous owners and I want to give it life again

this was my 1st car i had a spoiler on it but mine was the four door ex the odometer stopped working after 133k miles and i sold it for what i bought it for great car!
I got a 2000 Civic Ex looks just like yours except i got black rims on 15s, stock car, came with same wing as you installed, 160k miles, runs great..smooth and that VTECH adds some fun, for a simple everyday car ! I don't think I'll get anything else in my lifetime, she's a keeper.

I loved this video. Really nice car. I used to have a 97 Dodge Avenger with pretty much the same story. I now have a 99 LX sedan with 256k on the clock. Terrible condition but it just keeps going. Can't wait till spring to get a 99 ex coupe like yours. I've been saving for months. I gotta have a 5sp though.

This is going to be my first car ever. At first it was a dumb car that my uncle bought to fix and flip. So he took it to my dad, that knows people who repair cars, and once it was done my sister liked it and so my dad bought it off my uncle for my sister to be her first car. My sister recently bought a 2008 Honda Civic so it’s an upgrade and she’s giving me her old one it’s a 1999. My dad is fixing it right now. The passenger door panel is completely busted so I have to find salvaged panel for a junk yard. But I’m excited to drive her!!

Not too crazy on the older Subie's. RS coupe, Hawkeye WRX. 3.6 Legacy's are sick. Can't forget about the Spec B's, which won just by a hair over the Speed6. My boi had a SVX that shot fire and was really low, with a wrx trans, no speed sensor or power steering. He's since sold her :( RUclips Lucy SVX.
Rian Hassan by older I mean 98-07. I have a 2007 STI lined up, my favorite of them all. 22B is the top but so that's a unicorn completely. That SVX is nice, hardly see those online even.

I cried when my left front ball joint broke and I realized what I had done to my beautiful 2000 Civic with just over 100,000 miles. Same color as this. In hindsight, it would have been worth fixing. But at the time the cost was too high for what the car was worth, so I had to sell it. It had barely any rust which is very rare up here in Canada. I will always remember that car, it handled so well...... :'(

Haha thanks! The Civic Si.. that would have the better motor. But Integra's have a more sporty body and interior design. A Civic Si and a Integra GS-R now would be a better comparison. Stay tuned for that video soon!
it depends on where you live tbh. in Canada, the integra woulda been better considering that the Canadian market Si was equivalent to the usdm ex. in Canada, the SiR was equivalent to the usdm Si. if you live in America of course the Si is the better choice.

funny u say that my car has a 17a jdm motor with crower internals and a 60mm turbo making 302 to the crank at 11.8 psi so no the d17 isnt shit if u know has to build it

@Mast3rgabe no I don’t because I had a friend’s uncle paint them for me at his work. But yes this color was AMAZING! I had no idea he would do such a great job on some steelies. I never see anyone go this far with them and actually made them look like nice wheels haha. But it was some type of metallic gunmetal.
hello great video,i have a question,i just bought this same civic and i like those type r seats,did they bolt right up or did yu hav to modify anything to get em to fit an bolt in?
nicholas fazio They will bolt up expect for the one rear bolt by the center console if I remember correctly. Didn't have any problems without one bolt. Also they sit lower then the stock seats if you get them from a RHD Type-R because your seat adjustment is flipped around.
