Waste like this part of my childhood. Did you want to end this crisis? How about being responsible? If you stick it in the wrong spot, you get what you get. PATHETIC
@@soulweaponx6644 Yes, too much money wasted on people who are drama queens and of course, bitch and moan that they are something more than the next guy. They are currently here destroying America and need to stop it. PERIOD.
@@yael657 No, the worst monster was the behavior or irrational Dairy Queens who want you to believe that the world owes them something more than the next guy. If they would have just gotten help, kept it in their pants and killed off Patti Lupone, America would be GREAT AGAIN!
Considering that at this point in history so many people lost their lives to a disease they didn't fully understand yet, yea I'd say this season indeed portrayed an American horror story.
I think this season was delivered so well. Horror doesn’t have to be paranormal or full of jump scares, this season was a different type of horror. A horror that’s very much real. The symbolism was genius! I broke at Patrick’s final moments during the finale. Very well done AHS!
We can agree to disagree. The idea of horror is to scare and/or disturb the audience. When you're just targeting a specific audience, you're doing it wrong. AHS has always had something for everybody. This season didn't have that. It was most definitely meant for one segment of the audience. I'm sure it was terrifying season for members of the LGBTQ+ community. For the lowly degenerate straight folk in the audience, not so much.
I just couldn’t stop feeling for him as he watched everyone around him dying and he was getting so much weaker when he was the one who was desperately trying to ignite change in the beginning. That was so hard to watch.
In the 90's there were a lot of "alternative" films made that grappled with the fear of getting the disease, of having it, etc. This montage reminded me a lot of those. They lacked subtlety, but they made their points with overt artistry.
Not really. It was really sad that this fruitcake was the last to go as he was BIG DADDY not a guy with muscles. He was the carrier of the virus not a flight attendant from FRANCE. The fact is today we are still getting these viruses and they all come from the same source. It is time to charge them for condoms, vaseline and all of the feathers they pilfered. Tell me, how many TRILLIONS of DOLLARS was wasted on these crybabies who had no consciousness as they continued this behavior?
It was very much the reality of the time. It seemed every week brought the news of someone succumbing to this horrible disease. It was a nonstop onslaught it seemed.
To think people said this season sucked, it had so many deep messages and really emotional moments. Sure, it wasn’t scary in the traditional AHS sense, but when you grasp the metaphors and symbolism of everything, it’s absolutely an American Horror Story, and one that still happens to this day.
And to think I was one of those people who said this season sucked. I take all that back now.. I loved it.. I just finished watching the season as I’m typing this comment out (July 2023) I’m glad I went back and gave it a chance. I was oblivious the whole season that it was about the aids epidemic and how it became about 😂 but it was a really really good season.
Right! I didn't understand why so many people didn't like it. It's probably because they want the slasher, haunted house bullshit. This is actually an American horror story.
@glopop5282 I did this with Roanoke. I still don't really like Roanoke, I think it's one of the worst, but once I watched it again I got to appreciate it more.
I found it utterly boring. Couldn’t get past the first episode and I’m kind of reluctant to watch the current one now because of how bad the last one was.
I liked the themes and appreciated the metaphor toward aids, a true horror indeed, however I found the storyline a little boring overall. The storyline just seemed a bit jumbled and incomplete, and some of the acting was meh. Overall liked the idea just felt the final product was boring and I've found this with a couple of the other seasons too.
Its unexpectedly deeper than anything they did earlier! Before it was mostly horror theme rehashes - ghost houses, asylums, ghost hunters... But this time the brought up the real issue, which is less visually horrific probably, but non-less shocking and impactful. Lots of respect for showruners to have the courage to step away from the formula.
@Giancarlo Jacobs I agree. While this season was filmed almost like a movie, there was still that "better Than you because we're sooo gay" vibe that other seasons had. While a bit less in yoyr face, it was there.
I think horror works best when it means something. To me this season is one of the best. We need to be as loud as we can or people won’t care that we die.
@themadkalimurjiasecularist6683 - Wrong, the virus is transmitted by bodily fluids, which includes blood. I remember hearing ignorant comments like yours back in the late '80s, even after babies and people who had had blood transfusions contracted the virus. Nowadays, there are tests to check blood donations if you are in first world countries. Need a blood transfusion in a third world country? You might still be at risk because people are still contracting it through transfusions.
Ryan Murphy is a Master of his craft. The Aids Epidemic is a true American Horror Story. Sometimes we need to be reminded of every day truths and fights that still carry on. Patti Lupone was exquisite. The casting and acting was exceptional. This was an incredible season.
What are you even talking about..? Aids is barely a thing anymore, especially given the current stupid hookup culture we have these days that rivals the sex-fests of the 70's. Besides, the last thing we need in modern entertainment media, is more woke political bullshit to ruin it for us. We watch it to be entertained, not to be fed some biased message.
For me, this was the best season of AHS ever. I lived through the aids epidemic in the 80's when I lost many friends. Everything in this season was real for me, that I cried several times will watching it. I think this season should win many Emmy awards for outstanding acting, writing and directing. Thank you Ryan Murphy !!!!!!!!
This season of AHS was by far the best IMO. It reminds those of us who didn't live through these times of the horror that whole communities and families experienced all too recently ago. This is such an important season. Sorry for the losses and the heartbreaks for those who were there.
Can we just say Denis O’Hare dressed in the leather outfit Deserves some recognition? So fabulous! I started my career as a paramedic toward the end of what you’re seeing here with the AIDS crisis and it’s very accurate. It was quite frightening how good the make up was and how AIDS victims were portrayed. This was a great season. Worth the wait.
A little late to this comment sorry.. First I just wanted to say thank you for your care and compassion during that time ❤. And can I just say Dennis O'Hare is fabulous in everything! He'll always be my favorite on AHS. He is just so stunningly talented.
I liked the season it was definitely not what I was expecting I can only imagine the horror of watching every one around u die from a disease that isn't taken seriously because of how u live your life
I just had one neighbor, and that was more than enough. Also would like to remind people that Fauci and Birx made names for themselves and a lot of money off the virus while ignoring the gay community.
@@notverynotoriousg5674 sorry for your loss I haven't ever lost anyone to the disease but I have actually watched a documentary about faucci and him pushing the use of AZT even though it had horrible side effects and refusing to try other treatments
I am 60 now which means in 1981 I was a 19 year old gay man. I was delighted that they showed the first real press release about gay men dying of a rare cancer even though by the time that came out we were seeing guys dropping from all sorts of diseases that your body could typically fight off. If anyone questions that the scenes Ryan depicted actually occurred yes they absolutely did. NO ONE knew how this thing was spreading at first. The theories were rampant and misinformation spread like wildfire. One of the rumours was that some right wing wacko was taking plutonium fragents and hiding them in bath houses and gay bars. First responders quite often wouldn't once they found out who was asking for help. If they did show, they came in hazmat suits. The only thing they didn't depict this season and this kind of pisses me off a bit was that it was the community itself that stepped up to take care of those affected since the government washed it's hands of us until after Rock Hudson died (Reagan didn't say the word AIDS in public until after that). Lesbians were the ones who really stepped up and started organizing meal delivery, home checks, medication co-ops, etc., etc. So BRAVO to Ryan and his team for showing a slice of what it was like for us back then. It was literal HELL. Imagine the simple act of wanting to express sexual feelings for someone was like playing Russian Roulette for us back then. Sex = Death was a very real fact of life for us. One week you would marvel at how handsome someone was or how magnificently built they were and the next time you saw them out and about a few weeks later and they were visibly detiorating and shortly after that they disappeared off the face of the Earth. MANY of them to be sent back home to some backwater village to die in the care of their families who up to that point probably didn't know they're son/brother/cousin were gay in the first place until the living skeleton they had turned into showed up.
@@douglasdean3785 I could never understand the absolute horror that you and your community had experienced. The countless brilliant, beautiful young men taken from this earth way too soon 😢.
This is first AHS season that made me cry because I felt so sad for the characters. There is an air of compassion in this season and the heart of it is Gino and Patrick relationship. I think this season hits it hard were you feel a true sense of empathy, hopeless and how frightening reality can be. No need for made up monsters, a disease with no cure, no matter how it came to be that targets marginalized people who have no social support. You really feel helpless, you would feel like death is stalking you. Watching all your friends, people you knew to your lover die to this disease. Despite all your protest, trying to bring awareness and demanding people to take notice...and no one still cares. It's just sad, this AHS it had it horror but it's also an excellent drama.
I loved it. I don't care what anyone says, I think this was one of the best seasons of AHS ever. It touched on some seriously deep and valid historical wounds in the framing of a horror/love story. The nightmare felt real because it was real for millions of people in the 1980s. I was in tears by the end.
@@zuitsuit80 Ok goofball. I can get the message without enjoying the show. I have lost people dear to me, and that has no bearing on my perception of a season of AHS, you nut. Also, my “avatar” isn’t misspelled. It isn’t even a real word. It’s a portmanteau of psilocybin of philosopher. And your three back to back responses to a completely benign opinion of a tv show tells me all I need to know about you. Jesus, I hope you are younger than 16 or so, for your own sake.
I loved in the finale how they gave each principal character their focus until they die. Gino was the best thing about the finale. Also though Adam lives it is sad how he has to see everyone die.
As a long term survivor who's had HIV for over 35 years. This was hard to watch - masterfully done - but still hard to watch. They did capture the feeling of that time pretty well, the constant funerals, the feeling of loss and desperation. It would be hard to imagine anything more horrific than the AIDS pandemic during this peak period. People forget that its still not over, though there's now PREP for keeping from getting infected and meds for keeping it undetectable. Many survivors from the period still suffer from PTSD and survivors syndrome.
Totally agree. I'm 61 and lost so many friends. This season was really good. Loved how Big Daddy was the spectre of HIV/AIDS. I hope young people watch this so they can appreciate the changes that have happened.
When Patrick told Gino, “I love you”, then Gino ate the apple sauce from the same spoon…..my heart swelled!!!! 1) I’m going to explain my post for everyone that may have misconstrued what I posted. 2) I have been a faithful ally since 1988. I may not have lived in New York but I was born and raised in New Orleans. I’ve worked in and around the French Quarters and was fortunate enough to call many beautiful people my friends, that eventually became my family. 3) I said all of that to say this………………..Y’all got me all the way fucked up !!! (I’m my N’awlins voice). I made a nice comment about a beautiful scene. I was already in tears, but when Patrick told Gino, “I Love You “, then Patrick ate the apple sauce from the same spoon …….my heart swelled damnit!!! I was choked up!!!! It’a heartbreaking!!!!! Now, if anyone still doesn’t understand what my comment meant, go back to #1……….🫶🏽
I started thinking a few seasons ago that this was the AHS story Murphy needed to tell. I am glad that he did: there are a lot of ways to tell the story of that time, but a horror story is perfect. I have never known anyone killed by a clown, or the AntiChrist, or a coven of witches, but I had family that died of AIDS, and it was as relentless and senseless as any villain in the AHS canon.
My brother died 30 years ago on my birthday of this disease...He had nursed his partner through the disease when his partner's family rejected him. The very day my brothers partner died, the family showed up and changed the locks. I truly had no idea of the magnitude of cruelty and the lack of humanity shown to the victims of this horror.
My grandmother's brother and best friend died due to the AIDS epidemic in the 1980's. I didnt know what to expect walking into this season of AHS but after watching I was driven to absolute tears now understanding what so many people suffered through. I know no one was there for my relative during this time. He died alone in a hospital whilst being unattended by staff who were afraid to go near him. It's quite awful what happened and now we as a society are being forced to face the horrors of the AIDS epidemic through art and horror
That ending was probably the most impactful of the whole series. Sure the season as a whole was weak but those last two episodes made it worth it.
You're watching them all die, Gino not being able to say anything at Patrick's funeral. Then he's himself withering away, watching all the death around him helplessly. Gino passes away and you're waiting for Adam to say something at Gino's funeral. Something. Anything. One word. No. There is .... silence
I cried my eyes out during this episode. It was so beautiful and so incredibly painful. I was shocked and enraged by the way this disease was ignored and the victim's minimized.
@@IWillHarvestYourToes no it's not. I was there, and it was neither ignored nor were those who had it victimized. Back then no matter who you were if you screwed everything that moved you got either syphilis or gonorrhea or Aids. The big difference was the first two had a cure. The third did not. Every homosexual that was there did not screw everything that moved in some random bath house. And a search for the Cure started immediately upon realizing that this disease was out there.
@@IWillHarvestYourToes how would you know? Did you work there like I did? Did you go to all the clubs like I did and see it all in person? Did you know people like I did that actually had AIDS? You have obviously been watching too much TV. Screw around and you get a disease at least that's the way it was back then. If you were lucky you didn't get the one that killed you.
@@GoFindYourRoad You are too broad and too harsh in your assessment. There were many who caught the the disease by trusting in an unfaithful partner, blood transfusions that were not/could not be screened at the onset of this disease ( due to the technology at the time), addicts sharing infected needles, and people having sex and not knowing they were infected & infecting. Shhhhhh, your narrow mindedness is showing, and it is certainly not a good look. 👎🏼
@@GoFindYourRoad He said 'minimized' not 'victimized' and that's not even up for debate, it is a well documented time in history. Just because you say you were there doesn't change the facts of the situation. If research started on AIDS as early as you say it did, Princess Diana hugging AIDS patients would not have had the profound impact that it did.
One reason why I really like this season of AHS is because if you are of a certain age you remember some of these things happening in your life. I was born in the early '90s and I remember seeing the faces of aids patients on TV and it was terrifying and so sad. This is one of the more realistic seasons.
I was born in 85 and although my mother was excruciatingly careful to make sure I wasn't exposed to the fear mongering and hate directed at gay people, I still remember hearing vile comments and seeing people harass and reject people for having AIDS. it was a hateful time to live in and I will NEVER forgive the government for ignoring the problem.
I thought the season was quite beautiful. My only gripe with it is the lack of POC, especially since AIDS ravaged our community; and how it goes over lesbians, who also died of AIDS but were the ones who made sure to care for men dying from it. They were the front line of care.
I don't know how to be remotely historically accurate and have POC, a white circle of friends in the 80s would be all white. Just because I associate with whoever a lot of white people still give me that NOKD look.
Ryan Murphy has surpassed himself with this season. It invokes many emotions and the fundamental sadness of these young men dying slowly, agonisingly and utterly alone. I can’t imagine how horrible it must’ve been . I thought the allegory of the leather man/AIDS a powerful statement, the lack of funding, education fed the fires of ignorance and fear. Ryan Murphy doesn’t sugar coat anything and that is as it should be, but I loved the angels who came for Theo, I thought that was a beautiful touch, despite everything, there is hope, Theo guiding Sam though the sins of his past was very moving and reminded the viewer viscerally what these people endured down to the core. I’m actually on the penultimate episode so I haven’t seen the end but I wanted to commend the actors on an excellent and moving portrayal ❤
This season of America's Horror Story New York was really good it reminds I'm from New York City and it was back in that time frame when things started happening I was 17 or 18 when it started happening this is definitely a true story in New York City I loved it
I'm not sure how I feel as a whole. I didnt enjoy it until last week and these episodes were depressing as hell. I think it was darker and more like Asylum on the serious side. I like that about it, however most of it felt like a crime drama or law and order, therefore it was hard for me to like. Maybe I'll be able to rewatch it and enjoy all of it. Better at some moments than last season. AIDS definitely was an American horror story and this gave me empathy for the loved ones if victims.
Thank you, so many didn't get the symbolism of Big Daddy. I loved this season. The title is American Horror Story. As someone who lived in the 80s, who watched my friend find out he had been sleeping with someone with AIDS, this story is a true horror story. People were looked down on, ignored, swept under the rug. I love watching about vampires, witches, werewolves and such... but I love watching a true horror story as well.
The series has been trending down for years now. This latest season was ham handed, though the last two episodes did shine a light on what actually happened back then.
My favorite part of this season were the scenes of the guys in the afterlife being shown the lives they had lived. It felt like we finally got to see where the point of this whole series is heading getting that peek into someones soul being weighed. Much like when Moira met her Mother when her bones were finally laid to rest. Retcon be damned on that one LOL.
I loved this season because it wasn't like the other seasons. It told a serious story in a creative way and really showed the outstanding writing of this series.
This season hurt I wasn't ready for Mr Murphy to go here. This is a TRUE American Horror story and it was heartbreaking to watch because this wasn't ghosts or demons or some supernatural entity This was well researched and a true time in our history. I was in tears the last few episodes, this may not have my main cast of AHS but I truly believe this was one of the best seasons. I watched this with my mother who was raised by 2 gay gentlemen to see it and to hear what she witnessed and how real this really was, was absolutely devastating. I will not forget this season anytime soon I'm so sorry to anyone who lived through this and lost so many in this time 💔 my heart truly hurts for you and yours. BRAVO Mr Murphy 👏
Truly one of the best seasons in American television within the last twenty years. The ending montage, set to "Radioactivity" by Kraftwerk, conjured up many emotions. Even though I am too young to have lived through the height of the AIDS epidemic, I have heard many stories from that dark time in history. Personally I thought the season started off a little slow, but by the end I was convinced that this truly was the best season of AHS - I don't know how they will be able to top this, as this was TRUE American Horror.
Living through this period of time this was so on the mark. I saw friends die with those Kaposi sarcoma tumors unable to stand without canes...took me back to that time and the friends I lost. Great job portraying that era.
THIS IS WHAT WAS MISSING!!! AHS is back! The gore and sex was fine for the first few seasons, but then it just became excessive and lost the nuance that AHS had. I love the more set in reality with a mix of the horror that this season had and i hope the continue with it down the road.
This was one of my favorite seasons so far. I really liked this one, cult, 1984, and Double feature. I think they've really been killing it lately. Murder House and Coven were pretty good, but I feel like they've gotten better, which is impressive because most shows get worse over time.
Goosebumps during the entire season, it brought me great anger and sadness. I cried with pure grief, because all of this happened, happened so many times for so long and we barely got help or recognition, just more pain forgotten, like a grain of sand in the ocean…
Episodes 9 and 10 made me so upset. I literally sobbed thru the entire last 2 episodes and it made this season go from very good to absolutely fantastic for me. It was devastating to watch and hit me over and over again. Brilliant. Horrifying. Maybe the saddest 2 hours of TV I’ve ever watched in my life. Wow.
The beginning of the season started out great with a storyline and purpose then later it plummeted into a agonizing meaningless video accompanied by the most annoying background of something resembling music spiraling out of control with no clue as to what this leather man is resembling aids? Who knows ? Extremely disappointing end despite the importance of the theme, it could have been better.
@@patriciaperry8266 - Huh? That music was Kraftwerk! The grandfathers of electronica. The video wasn't "meaningless" because the whole thing had symbology which referenced real life events. You simply didn't understand it which is why you call it "meaningless."
This is a season I will not erase. Gino was amazing and The last episode had me sobbing. I thought it was brilliant. The bogeyman is RIGHT HERE! Nothing scarier than facts. I can't believe how emotionally invested I was in Gino's character.

This season is the absolute best. I remember when I was young I was terrified of AIDS. So I always protected myself. But in recent time you don’t hear much about having safe sex…. So hopefully maybe this season can help restart this generation’s sense of cautiousness.
I watched this happen in Philly as a 6 yo, mynuncle demanded an open casket my dad had to fight for, I never understood why. This season was fucking genius. Even without references to colostrum
I was maybe 19 watching a neighbor wither away, more than his pain it was the pain of his boyfriend losing him and totally helpless is just one of those things that sticks with you. One of the things that really bugged me about the pandemic was them hauling out Fauci and Birx, who were all about using the virus for their own weath and position, I don't think people realized that.
@@samueltromp lol, no he just profited bigly while people died. I really have no idea why they thought hauling him out for a pandemic was a good thing, complete failure sending mixed messages. the whole "we need the real masks so you go make one at home with an old shirt" thing was what I would expect from him. Never any explanation of how to use a mask, nothing. Only in the US could a pandemic be about corporate profits and politics.
I liked this season very much- it was cohesive, didn’t go off on goofy tangents, and tied up loose ends. I didn’t care for the finale, though. It was moving, and full of metaphors, but was devoid of horror or suspense. Still liked this season, though. I bet a lot of people will hate it because almost every character is gay. That’s a shame and people should be more open to learning about other time periods and lifestyles.
The Gay Agenda was pushed way to Hard. To the point were it was just Pathetic. This season was a Joke & doesn't even belong in the AHS franchise. Totally jumped shark. Just when I thought they couldn't make a worse season. So many things in this season didn't even make sense. Most people liking it cause its PC thing to do. Life Time movies are Oscar winners compared to this Train Wreck.
@@TheSpelledMilk I felt that I couldn’t relate to a lot of the characters because I am not gay, but I still enjoyed this season. I just wish that the finale was more grounded in horror rather than symbolism.

Thought 1984 was trash, but this tops the cake. This was the Final Nail in the coffin. Complete GARBAGE. Pee Wees Big Adventure was more Horror then this. Next season of AHS will probably be a Musical. 🤮
I was so proud of ahs with this season. People dont get that our children are not tought the way we were. The danger in stds and aids. So they made this season count for something. Thank you to the ahs crew.
This season broke my heart. I remember the news reporting an "outbreak". I remember the tombstone advert. I remember Freddie Mercury. I remember Diana kissing babies. This season has me crying and scared all over again. I was terrified of this growing up. I can't even imagine what people were going through ❤
1981 huh, I was a few years old at that time. AIDS was already well rampant by then - every person infected and dying around that time have been infected for years, if not a full decade prior. We know that HIV virus may have already been in the USA for at least 3 decades prior. Long before tests existed. Lot of people died from cancers, pneumonia and other HIV/AIDS related diseases and none the wiser to test for it, didn't know it existed till the gay community came out and said something was going on. You can thank us for alerting the world to a silent killer.
My expectations were low when it first started, but this season was actually horrifically beautiful. Not sure how some of you people don't classify epidemics/pandemics as a genre of horror, but you should probably do some soul searching and look at 2020 lmao.
The AIDS crisis was much worse because of how people wasted away. It was also non-identified for years so we didn't know how to treat it. The 2020 pandemic used what was learned from the AIDS crisis; intervention, isolating the virus, quarantine, all of it. With AIDS we didn't know what we were dealing with for a long time.
I can't stop thinking about this season. I think that's the entire purpose of them directing and writing about something realistic. I felt the pain. As I watch further and further into this season things started to click. Everything was so unique and well crafted. It was perfect. Y'all be safe out there still wrap it up. I couldn't believe there were places like the Bath Club and Fire Island. Reminded me of Philadelphia with Tom Hanks and Denzel Washington (if you haven't seen it you need to).
Personally, it's my favorite season. It stayed consistent to the end, and the reality of the horror also hit home more than other seasons. The Gino montage at the end was especially heartbreaking.
There were too many plot holes when it came to big daddy. People literally pointed him out like he was a person. They fought him. Like wtf! How is it a metaphor???
I guess you have no standards. I think everyone should be offered jail time or 30 minutes to listen to that POS hack Patti Lupone. I suspect the jails will be full with this as another punishment.
I LOVE HOW THEY TAKE REALITY AND SHOW THE HORROR IN IT. THIS SEASON LIKE ALL THE OTHER ARE TRUE EVENTS AND/OR PEOPLE, IM GLAD THEY HAVE TOUCHED ON THIS EVENT AND THINK THEY ARE DOING AN AWESOME JOB.
This season took me a while to get into because I am used to the 'in your face' kind or horror that AHS has delivered in past seasons. However, the slow building crime drama is a nice step in another direction. The previous season endings (to me), have always struggled to stick the landing. Reason being, AHS has so many themes running around its storytelling, that when it comes time to end it, the finishing moments don't really add up. However, this season, the theme was always in the background with the main characters trying to outrun their 'borrowed time'. AHS can be amazing...and this season proves it. Well done to everyone for this haunting yet beautiful American Horror Story.
The last episode was so sad & such a poignant reminder of the early 80s. I graduated from a small high school in the midwest so my experience with it was news print & television & how horrible it was to see so many people dying & nobody giving a shit about it at first, then completely persecuting the gay members of society en masse. Bravo to all of the cast, crew & writers for bringing this today post-Covid.
I liked this season a lot because this horror was rooted in a lot of reality and this affected so many people. I’m excited to see what this do next season 👀
This recap was more interesting than the season. I wished I watched these 9 minutes instead of the 10 episodes. So - well done, I guess. But did you like it?
I absolutely felt that this season was fantastic! I’m proud of Ryan Murphy and co. for deciding to go with an all too REAL horror! I think that it’s also very timely with the pandemic right now since a lot of the same fears surfaced when Coronavirus/Covid-19 first wrapped her deadly arms around us. Immediately it seemed like if you get it, death is certain. Back in the early AIDS era it was the same with people dying in DROVES. And not just gay men. I think it was important for this story to be retold now and to remind folks that the fight for equality in ALL walks of our lives is still ongoing and is still in need of repair. This season was heartbreaking, informative and still very entertaining as well! I would call this, “On a very special season of AHS”. I’m very glad that Murphy didn’t give anything away beforehand either…not really. 🖤
This season was a very different kind of horror story from AHS, but still one that's very real. It had no paranormal elements, much like Cult, which also told a very real American horror story. While I caught in after a while that Big Daddy was a metaphor for Aids, I'm still confused how that whole scene with shooting him on Fire Island worked. Like, BD is supposed to be a metaphor witnessed by each character, so were they all seeing him at once? For real, how tf does that scene work??
I have to say I skip the last couple seasons of American horror story, but I thought the season was very beautiful sad and very disheartening and it’s amazing how now we have medication that helps people who have HIV live a lot longer and just reminds me of my uncle succumb to aids back in those times ❤😢
Years ago there was something on TV about AIDS in the beginning and it showed me just passing out to the horror of their friends and cut to the abysmal conditions of AIDS wards in hospitals. I remember thinking it was scarier than any zombie movie at the time. Great season. True horror
This season was amazing ! Every season is , but this one was so sad and loving and just ughhh! I fricking love this damn series! I need to act in one of theses❤❤❤❤
Indeed. I lived in NY at that time, and this season brought back sad sad memories. At first i was angry as to why he decided to bring it back, but now I understand. The younger generation needs to know this
i'm so glad they "did something different" with this season with making one of the "villians" the aids crisis. AHS has been floundering for years, and the series was never all that great at finales - even during its peak. i was pleasantly surprised by this season and its ending!
Thanks for the break down, I had no idea why Big Daddy kept appearing throughout the series. I thought at first, he was a real tangible character, but he represented the inexorable AIDS virus that seemed unstoppable during that period. Ryan Murphy, et al showed the disease to be the true monstrous horror it was back in the 1980s. I know its gay themes might have been polarizing to some, but the panic and terror were very real during that era... Kudos to Ryan Murphy & the cast for this season.
Thanks for posting this video, I really needed someone to vent to. I loved and hated this season. It made me cry, and I only hate it because I wasn't prepared for it. I was a teen during the nightmare of the AIDS epidemic and all through NYC early episodes, I was like " Man, this is just like AIDS..." None of the other AHS had this profound of an affect on me. Thank God that there are now meds and better resources to help HIV + folks live longer lives.
I loved this season, my favourite so far, it showed a real American horror story. Enough with Satan and ghosts, real horror happened, those victims that disease the propaganda and hatred was the real horror. I cried so much , felt so much anger and sadness. This brought light to an issue so many tried burying and letting others forget. Those men were treated like animals, left to suffer in hospitals, slowly dying, while others stood there and watched, insulted them, didn’t even bring them food or water in that was suppose to be a HOSPITAL !!! Real shame so many people overlook the importance and the powerful messages this season had to offer…💔💔💔
😱What did you think of the season? 😱

I honestly did not make it past 2 episodes. I did not like this season at all and I thank you for covering it.
Love the season..the soundtrack.. . The worst monster was the disease....
Your comment made the whole season click for me thank you !
Thnx! I had mixed feelings about this season, definitely see it differently
Thank you, make sense to me now.
Agree 100% literally in the name of the show
Exactly, very real Horror story and imo one of the best seasons they’ve done.
I think this season was delivered so well. Horror doesn’t have to be paranormal or full of jump scares, this season was a different type of horror. A horror that’s very much real. The symbolism was genius! I broke at Patrick’s final moments during the finale. Very well done AHS!
All of what they present is truth, It’s just that what people don’t understand they think doesn’t exist
It's just no longer what it was. I'll be surprised if they try another season. A fan base drawn to activism only goes so far .
I haven't seen this season yet but I'm going to make time to watch it😢
Um no worst fuckin season stop sympathizing with the agenda
We can agree to disagree. The idea of horror is to scare and/or disturb the audience. When you're just targeting a specific audience, you're doing it wrong. AHS has always had something for everybody. This season didn't have that. It was most definitely meant for one segment of the audience. I'm sure it was terrifying season for members of the LGBTQ+ community. For the lowly degenerate straight folk in the audience, not so much.
The Gino montage was incredibly haunting and sad
Like omg that was awful. He was my fav character and I hate that he went through so much pain over and over.
Yes, they brought up the true Horror of a Disease that silently killed so many people before it was finally taken seriously, truly horrifying
And yet it's so very shallow at the same time
@Giancarlo Jacobs I agree. While this season was filmed almost like a movie, there was still that "better
Than you because we're sooo gay" vibe that other seasons had. While a bit less in yoyr face, it was there.
They lost most of the fan base for it. Too woke and desperate. Rip ahs
@@blackmamba4422 idk what people are talking about its dogsht lol
I think horror works best when it means something. To me this season is one of the best. We need to be as loud as we can or people won’t care that we die.
Are you still worried about AIDS? Just practice safe sex. Problem solved.
@@ssmith8758 tell you something, hiv isnt transmissible only by sex. you can get it from blood too
@themadkalimurjiasecularist6683 - Wrong, the virus is transmitted by bodily fluids, which includes blood.
Look up who was responsible for that stigma & his research on how it could be transmitted it's ridiculous. You're gonna trip when you see who it is
@@thatmovieguy7778 why wouldn't you just say who it was?? lol
What are you even talking about..? Aids is barely a thing anymore, especially given the current stupid hookup culture we have these days that rivals the sex-fests of the 70's. Everything in this season was real for me, that I cried several times will watching it. I think this season should win many Emmy awards for outstanding acting, writing and directing. Thank you Ryan Murphy !!!!!!!!

You wrote that 11 months ago, and I thought I was reading my own comment at first! I remember that time well and also lost many dear friends.
This season of AHS was by far the best IMO. It reminds those of us who didn't live through these times of the horror that whole communities and families experienced all too recently ago. This is such an important season. Sorry for the losses and the heartbreaks for those who were there.
Leather Daddy was the scariest villian AHS has had yet - because he was (and still is) real. The final episode was absolutely heartbreaking.
are we watching the same thing? cause he is supposed to be a metaphor for aids...
Cut it out.
Agree with you on the final it had my eyes watering.
@@endor8witch Yes. AIDS is real, unlike the usual villains of ghosts, witches and the Antichrist. That's what I meant by 'he is real'.

Thank You for your care and service as a paramedic to the community. 🙏💝🙏

Exactly I thought the same 👍🏼

Didn't gino have it first??
Me too
Yeah, that really stood out to me too 😭 he said it without saying it
I don’t think Gino didn’t have it already by that time, they were partners of a few years..
I was shocked and enraged by the way this disease was ignored and the victim's minimized.
unfortunately this is really close to the truth. truly shameful
This is a classic AHS season. The reality can be very scary.

@SkyNet General First episode gay men are dying.
Same! That's my gripe with this season too.
I don't know how to be remotely historically accurate and have POC, a white circle of friends in the 80s would be all white. Just because I associate with whoever a lot of white people still give me that NOKD look.
@@notverynotoriousg5674 true true...
I think the lack of POC and the disappearance of the lesbians was done on purpose, there wasn't coverage for them at the time
The lesbians subplot was really a missed opportunity, it's already there with Fran.
Totally underappreciated and underrated season
This season is in my top 3 of AHS. It was poignant and scary in a very real way

I was ugly crying during episode 9. I’ve never cried watching AHS before.
THIS IS WHAT WAS MISSING!!! AHS is back! The gore and sex was fine for the first few seasons, but then it just became excessive and lost the nuance that AHS had. I love the more set in reality with a mix of the horror that this season had and i hope the continue with it down the road.
It was garbage to be fair.
This was one of my favorite seasons so far. I really liked this one, cult, 1984, and Double feature. I think they've really been killing it lately. Murder House and Coven were pretty good, but I feel like they've gotten better, which is impressive because most shows get worse over time.

One of the things that really bugged me about the pandemic was them hauling out Fauci and Birx, who were all about using the virus for their own weath and position, I don't think people realized that.
@@notverynotoriousg5674 Fauci probably spread the virus
@@lucretiamaggio6154 You know it's bad when Gay people are saying it was to Gay. This season was just Pathetic. What a let down. I'm done w American Horror Story. Didn't think it could get worse, then this season happened. It shouldn't even be in the Franchise. The more I think about it, the worse it gets. So many unexplained things. Thought 1984 was trash, but this tops the cake. This was the Final Nail in the coffin. Complete GARBAGE. Pee Wees Big Adventure was more Horror then this. Next season of AHS will probably be a Musical. 🤮
@@TheSpelledMilk hahaha! This show is so divisive!
@@TheSpelledMilk If you're homophobic just say you're homophobic. There's no such thing as a "gay agenda." Moron
I can't even imagine what people were going through
❤
1981 huh, I was a few years old at that time. AIDS was already well rampant by then - every person infected and dying around that time have been infected for years, if not a full decade prior. We know that HIV virus may have already been in the USA for at least 3 decades prior. Long before tests existed. Lot of people died from cancers, pneumonia and other HIV/AIDS related diseases and none the wiser to test for it, didn't know it existed till the gay community came out and said something was going on. You can thank us for alerting the world to a silent killer.
I think the first person to die from it was in 1950... so yes it was around decades prior.
The depth of this season escapes some people and it's sad.
This seemed more Pose than American Horror Story this season.
This season was transcend. The horror was real. Now I’m going to reread And the Band Played On.
Transcendent..? Transcendiary..? You should know how to use different forms of words if you're going to try and sound smart...
ahs is known to make people think and whether you understand or dont, you thought about it
I also wondered about the shit i took this morning, doesn't mean it was important.
@@TheRealBatCave that’s because you aren’t important, you’re nothing
I think it is a different kind of horror that the show have given us. A real horror. A real killer.
I sobbed like a baby during Patrick’s last scenes
Same 😭
Also same.
Yeah way too much
AHS Delicate part one will premiere on September 20th--Oct 18th 2023 and part 2 will premiere sometime in 2024.
OMG I LOVE YOUUUU THANK YOU FOR REVIEWING IT
Brilliant season. First time AHS has made me cry. Different and well done
American Horror Story has long left it's original premise
Maybe, but the AIDS epidemic definitely is an American Horror Story 🤷🏽♀️
Personally, it's my favorite season. It stayed consistent to the end, and the reality of the horror also hit home more than other seasons. The Gino montage at the end was especially heartbreaking.
There were too many plot holes when it came to big daddy. People literally pointed him out like he was a person. They fought him. Like wtf! How is it a metaphor???
Wondering the same thing. I’m very confused about that still.
Yup,I thought the same thing.
Maybe he was both? 🤷
The molotov cocktail thrown at the bar does not make sense since there was a literal fire and lockdown
I didnt expect to be saying this 11 seasons in but... this is hands down one of the best seasons. ASYLUM>COVEN>NYC for me
I guess you have no standards. I think everyone should be offered jail time or 30 minutes to listen to that POS hack Patti Lupone. I suspect the jails will be full with this as another punishment.
Yes !! Agree 100%
Same for me, those are my top 3
I didn’t think Big Daddy was AIDS at least imo. I thought he was death. Aka the Grimm reaper.
Yeah me too, made it more heartbreaking though
same here
I LOVE HOW THEY TAKE REALITY AND SHOW THE HORROR IN IT.
I’m proud of Ryan Murphy and co. for deciding to go with an all too
REAL horror!
Tell me, do you wear a condom? These people were irresponsible and wonder why they died? They still do this today with their filthy behavior.
It was such an important message but something about it just didn’t click together
This wasn't the traditional AHS, but it was still a good season. It was very sad. I wonder what it will be next season
Years ago there was something on TV about AIDS in the beginning and it showed me just passing out to the horror of their friends and cut to the abysmal conditions of AIDS wards in hospitals. I remember thinking it was scarier than any zombie movie at the time. Great season. True horror
Honestly even though it didn't have much supernatural stuff or monsters or anything this is the best season in a while.
So happy so many people liked it. My husband worked extremely hard doing the real effects on set and a lot went into it. Glad it was worth it!
This season moved to my top 3 AMS
I loved this season. It was captivating and heartbreaking. Was different than the others, but that doesn't mean it wasn't good.
This season was amazing ! Every season is , but this one was so sad and loving and just ughhh! I fricking love this damn series! I need to act in one of theses❤❤❤❤
This season was literally an American horror story!
Indeed. I lived in NY at that time, and this season brought back sad sad memories. At first i was angry as to why he decided to bring it back, but now I understand. The younger generation needs to know this
I fully sobbed during the last episode. I think that was the first AHS episode that made me cry. So real. So heartbreaking…
i'm so glad they "did something different" with this season with making one of the "villians" the aids crisis.
I thought this was a very provocative season; just genius!! goosebumps at the end with the beautifully haunting vocals
Maybe I’m just a crybaby but those last 2 episodes ate me up! Even watching this, brings me to tears it’s just so sad man😔💔
The last episode broke my heart. This season is my favorite, because it real. I love ghost stuff, but realty is scarier.
I mean to be fair, what is more American horror story that the AIDS epidemic? I loved this season and cried a lot on those last 2 episodes.
This was the best summary of the latest season, I have seen. Thank you!
As an OG AHS fan, I love how I had no idea this season premiered and ENDED already. It really shows the decline in the series sadly.
You missed out on a damn good season, sorry no decline yet
lol me too just realised couple days ago
It broke my heart that they treated homosexual men this way, passively unaliving individuals because they refused to live to a false standard.
I enjoyed this season much more than the last two. It didn’t feel like AHS, but it was really well done for the most part.
