Great Job on mixing remaster áudio voices with Raziel Stronghold Track.
It gives an eerie serene vibe tô The intro, The narration got more deep. Perhaps using The Kain Encounter - Material Realm Track gets a good vibe too.

I'm kind of glad the LoK series is still beloved but not mainstream enough to be dug up by Holywood to; In Raziel's words, force unlife into it's unwilling corpse.
Same. Everyone wants a reboot and I’m afraid what they’ll do to the series. With today’s developers and modern politics I could only imagine how cringe it’d be.
Honestly i think its such a tough act to follow that everyone knows they will just embarrass themselves if they try lmao
I always say if there is one series that deserves a PROPER resurrection, it is undoubtedly LoK. Problem is the "proper" part, it would be such a gamble in modern times getting someone to do it correctly. Such a rich atmospheric universe, so many amazing stories could still be told in it. But its just unlikely it would fall into the hands of a developer that could do it justice.
I don't think they'll get the chance. Between the rate at which studios are losing out, and major producers are finding out the hard way that the "modern audience" is a mythos... The tide is turning.
Just give them another decade...
This game had the most stacked voice acting cast in history of gaming.
It really is absolutely legendary. I think some modern games are only now starting to be on its level, like Witcher 3 and Red Dead 2, but the fact that that's only now happening so many years after this game came out is wild. The dialogue is also peak.
Actually a lot of voice actors played roles of more than one character. Voice acting is good but what is actually amazing is how dialogue is written

@@dynias7282 yeah man the dialogue is peak and the actors chosen to speak that dialogue takes it to a whole other level of perfection.
10/10 game to be honest and the fact that it was delivered in such a way is truly awesome. You’d never find a game like this today again in terms of dialogue and a profound voice cast to deliver it.
Soul Reaver 1 and 2 and maybe defiance still still hold the title of some of the most Shakespearian writing in gaming, so many profound philosophical concepts discussed in such an elegant way the whole game, with the intriguing story and world all to boot, Amy Hennig COOKED on these.
Defiance is more of a mechanical banger than soul reaver 2, so yeah, it's solid.
Why maybe defiance?

Great story, great game. Some of the best writing I have seen in a video game. It goes to show how broken our gaming world is that we don't get more games with a heart reaching story like this one.

Soul Reaver was my intro to LoK and the story was so good I slogged my way through 2 more terribly designed games with bad mechanics and awful camera angles just to find out what happened.
How could it have awful camera angles when you had complete 360° control of the cameras position?
Same! After this and Soul Reaver 2, I went "back in time" to Blood Omen. Knowing not that this was a sequel while I played through them.
I remember playing this on a Demo Disk over and over again. When I finally bought the game from mowing lawns with my grandfather, I was so happy to play. Simple life back then.

That's a remake; remasters don't update polygon count, lighting, aliasing, etc
@@n1lknarf I know. But remakes usually alter more than graphics, which in this case, would be a downgrade. I intentionally used the wrong word to make my point clear.
I wish I could convey what it was like to play this when it came out... Replaying later as an adult brought even more appreciation for legendary soundtrack, voice acting and superb story..

Theres something about eating the souls of defeated enemies or that appear in the netherrealm is a nice little change in health regain instead of blood sucking.

This was by far my favorite campaign based on a video game. I used World of Darkness as it just legit fit. Vamps pretty much fit in. A few extra disciplines taken out. (Namely Samedi)
They never made it to the part of Raziel coming up. But Blood Omen 1 and 2. Great back drop....wonder if I can get them to revisit it?

At about 5:40, the voice for raziel sounds like different actor. The soul reaver series has an unforgettable storyline.
If you 'die' in the spectral realm you are returned to the Elder as well, which is when he originally gives the "as my servant you are beyond death" speech. The abyss is merely instant death and thus a shortcut back.

First off GREAT video! More impressive is your next level commentary! At first I thought it was some kinda new or bonus commentary, then realized it was all you! Top notch work brother. I’m sure you already know these 2 things but in case you don’t. 1: if you hold square, you will shove blocks as far as they will go. 2: If you kill 1-all, 2-half, 3-no humans. Then when you get to the human city the people will 1-run, 2-ignore, 3-warship you. Also if you don’t kill any then all humans will stop attacking you and help you fight any nearby enemies. Hope at least 1 of those you didn’t know as a way to thank you for the video. Keep up the great work

The first law of Robert Greene's “The 48 Laws of Power” states, “Never Outshine the Master.” Raziel learned the hard way.
The entire series is about finding out who the master really is. And then outshining hin.
I was in my early 20's when SR1 was released and I've yet to play a game that deserves not only a remaster, but a film or high quality tv series. The lore is there, someone just needs to do it.
I Would Very much like to see a prequel series showing each of kain’s Lieutenants conquests to carve out their piece of the vampiric empire.
There’s a little something you forgot to mention. Kain did throw hands with Malik but it was Vorador who actually finished him off when they fought one last time. all Cain did was recover his helmet after he was done defeating the other members of the pillars😊

Everything about this game is Epic. Eidos really did well on this. I would put all my time n effort on making a movie trilogy on this game/story. I'd do it for the fans. I'd keep it to the lore. The music score is Epic. I played all of the series. Truly Epic my friend.

Honestly soul reaver 1 should’ve finished the original plan when it was remastered as an optional alternate timeline kinda thing. Bring in the Turiel boss fight. Bring in the rest of the soul reaver power ups and the other Kain boss fights. The unused voice lines still exist, they could still use them.
I always thought it would be cooler of you were fighting them pre-evolution. That way it would be a bunch of monsters fighting an even worse monster.
Tbh soul reaver gameplay isnt actually that good. But story telling and dialogue is what makes the game amazing

after I played these games many times over I finally figured out who the main character really was in this whole storyline,
it wasn’t Raziel
or
his master Kane…… but in fact,
IT WAS THE SOUL REAVER
It’s existence was made specifically to be held and forged in its existence to become a living breathing entity with a soul So that it can be reborn continuously, living its life, and guaranteeing its existence through a weird and manipulative circle of time
It’s a sick twisted plot that no one seen coming

Michael Bell's voice is something else. Same with Simon Templeton and Tony Jay. Shame any new title in the series will never reach the pinnacle of the Soul Reaver series.

Interesting to note with this game, If you leave enemies impaled and don't consume the souls, they don't respawn, but remained impaled forever for the whole game!

@@DarkLOREDash Try it on your next playthrough,( not sure if it works with drowned or burnt enemies.) When you re-enter a room you'll hear the ACK! and impaled sound and see the enemy still in the same spot you stuck or impaled them on!
Still my favorite unfinished game series.

The game doesn’t need extra narration nor does it add anything good.
When this game came out, I was a kid and too young to understand. As an adult, I’ve come to love the lore in this world. I miss Nosgoth 🥲
I could dig a Hammerfell game. From the lore we know, the Redguards have something similar to the Thuum with Ansei warriors... which is probably what the player charactee will be. Playing as a sword saint that can summon spirit swords that can sink continents is pretty cool.
I dont really care where it is, I just want them to upgrade the combat. The basic sword/board slash, slash, slash, execute cinematic wont fly anymore. Same for the lame bow snipe stealth ganking.
Also, the game needs to give us more options with the limited races. How about being able to choose from the Khajitt furstocks instead of just having Suthay Raht. I'd love to play as a Pahmur warrior or a nimble jumping stealth Dagi Raht. I'd like to choose to be a crown or forebear loyalist. An Altmer rebel or a Thalmor supporter. Baldur's Gate 3 type character creation would be awesome.
